tea horse guest house is one of the main check points along the trek, and has a viewing deck (with bar) where you can get a cup of coffee and enjoy the views of the mountain. the location is superb, and is the perfect spot to stop at if you are doing a 2D1N hike. sit outside of your room and look at the stars at night. as the area is being developed to accommodate more tourist, you’d notice lots of construction going on… amenities are super basic, soap shampoo is provided in sachets and the en-suite rooms have wet toilets (open shower and toilet without partitions). food here is basic, nothing to shout about. my stir fried vegetables came swimming in oil… which i learnt is just how the people in this area cook their food. you can scribble your signature on the walls floors chairs furniture etc as a momento… but the scribbling was too overwhelming for my liking. consider this location for the heritage (being the middle point of the entire tea horse route)… and for the views. even the shared toilets have a view!

It was an enjoyable stay. The hotel contacted us before our stay and arranged for free pick up from the train station. They also added us on Wechat. The staff were friendly and helpful with our requests and queries. Even if they had no answers, they tried to find out and get back to us. They also helped us find a driver to take us to sights that were further away. As there was no lift in the property, the staff helped us carry our luggage to the fourth floor. When we checked out, they did the same. When we came back with too much shopping, they happily helped us with our bags too. The dining lounge on the fifth floor had a splendid view of the mountain range. On good days, one can even catch the sunset. There is free afternoon tea each afternoon from 2pm to 5 pm. Every evening, from 8pm to 9.30pm, the owner would host a buttertea 酥油茶 gathering for all his guests. The hotel is about a 15min walk to the Ancient Lijiang City. There is an underpass halfway between the hotel and the ancient city that leads straight to the Big Water Wheel. It's a good place to shop and eat while avoiding the sun enroute to the ancient city.

Great GH on the hiking trail in Tigerleaping gorge. We had so much fun with the Korean travel group and the spontaneous flute concert! Rooms are clean, food was good and all staff was very nice. Communication in English was also very good and helpful. The GH is clearly marked on the treck and easy to find For those who want to hike the upper treck (highly recommended!) try to arrange transport directly to the 28bends (28拐 / er shi ba guai). We took the shuttle bus to the tiger leaping gorge scenic spot but it drops you off at a big viewing platform on the street and far from the hiking trail. We ended up walking by the street and getting a ride with a local woman passing us

Location was great: Within Lijiang Ancient City and just a 5-min walk to the main road. Stayed during winter season and was glad to know that hot water was consistent. Room was cleaned up daily in the 4 days we stayed there to explore Lijiang and the surrounding areas. Breakfast provided was hearty with a good variety. Reception area is also conveniently located beside a cafe so you can also enjoy a cuppa over breakfast. Shoutout to the staff who were friendly and responded to our queries in a timely manner. They also helped to link us up to a local tour agency that helped us out with a Jade Dragon Snow Mountain day-trip which we thoroughly enjoyed. This was despite us not having a local Chinese number and only having WeChat as the only communication tool. All in all, really enjoyed our stay here at Songzhuju (松竹居) and will recommend it to my friends and family who are looking to explore Lijiang.

Innkeeper Liu and wife are very good, hospitable, helpful and have fast response. The inn provided a list of recommended restaurants nearby. The Inn is 1 year old and getting better with time. Good location inside Dali old city 5 min walk from the east gate, and 10min by motorised tricycle to Erhai. There are no stairs in this inn. The family room bathroom is a little awkward but the other room bathrooms are very modern and clean. The air-conditioning, bed linen and beds are good. There is a good amount of glazing but no openable windows so we kept the door open whenever we were in. The inn is homey and safe. The neighbours sing karaoke but this is part of the China experience, as are the neon lights across the street. Enjoy that along with the beautiful views of the mountain from your room.

Very convenient location about a 1-minute walk from Sifang Square. The main Wuyi Street is a short walk north, and the other big street Qiyi is a short walk south. Room was clean and the staff very helpful. No English is spoken, but I speak some Chinese and the staff can add you on wechat to communicate and share locations. The staff upgraded me, and the room was nice, clean and quiet—despite the very central location. Location could be a bit hard to find the first time, but the Trip.com app opened up Baidu maps for me and led me straight to one of the hotel entrances, though it wasn’t the main one (was just 10m west of the main one). I called the number and the staff guy came right over, so no problem. Other reviewers also say the staff can come guide you over, so you could also try that.

My only negative comment is that the hotel is located on the 7th floor or a high rise building, so I was wondering about for ages looking for the hotel until some kind Chinese students stopped to help me find it, the sign is in the lobby of the building near the lifts in Chinese. When I called the hotel for directions, no-one spoke English. They need to have a better sign or just be aware the hotel is in a high rise building.

The location is superb! Not so deep in the town which is good for your luggage (the road is uneven, it’s a risk will damage your roller). Convenient to travel around the ancient town, near lots of popular restaurants and attractions. Their place is clean, neat and nice looking too. We really like the service here, the staff is really nice and very supportive as soon as possible. The staffs tried their best to communicate with us even though our Chinese is not so good. Highly recommend everyone to stay here when coming to Lijiang.

The hotel staff are very helpful and the rooms are clean and warm. The most important thing is that the location is very good, it is quiet in the bustle, just near Erhai Gate. This place is not a hotel but a penthouse of a condo converted into a very nice, warm, welcoming and hi tech BnB. The place is clean, convenient and comfortable. It’s near to Erhai park, lotsa dining options and it’s convenient to call for a didi. As it is a penthouse, you have a spectacular view of Erhai. Recommended.

As we were not used to using disposable towels, they have replaced them with normal cotton towels. We were staying at the 2nd floor and bathroom and has good water pressure. Service at the reception is top notch and really commendable. They were patient and offered to help book tickets and shared coordinates of locations as we were not able to read Chinese. When we checked out , we received 2 boxes of flower biscuit which was unexpected and was a pleasant surprise. As the hotel is situated near the east gate, it’s a good choice if you intend to travel towards erhai lake area.

I would honestly stay in this hotel for its service. The staffs and bosses there are very welcoming and would answer any and every question I have thrown at them. They have helped me to book tickets to the surrounding attraction and helped me with transportation there, making commutation a lot easier in such a big place. Additionally, the view from the rooftop is impeccable as the location itself is quite near to the mountainous area providing a breath taking view of the clear sky and mountain. Would love to go there again

The road is very narrow and always pack with tourists and motorists, u will get stuck and won’t be able to shift yr car at all. We had problem locating the hotel, one of the staff came to lead us and help carry our luggage to the third floor. But when we check out, we couldn’t find anyone around, end up we had to bring down the luggage ourselves. Room cleanliness can be improved as I can find strands of long hairs on the floor, water stains on the shower panels.
