Hotel de La Paix

I needed a place to stay while visiting WWI sites and this hotel did what was needed. My room was comfortable and the double-glazed windows kept out the noise. The two men who seem to run it were friendly. I speak French so can't judge their English skills, which some other reviewers have raised. My main complaint was that I felt it was a bit over-priced for what it is, a small simple family-run French small town hotel. On the other hand, the buffet breakfast was good value. I'd also point out, that unlike many hotels of this type in France, my room had a coffee machine, a microwave and a small fridge, so you could eat a simple meal, which is not bad since this is not a particularly good food part of France. Beware that you don't have many choices in Albert. It's the center of the Battle of the Somme area and has an excellent museum, but it has very few hotel or restaurant choices. From what I gather, there's another hotel near the church that was closed the night I was there, and one modern one on the edge of town. I guess most of the many tourists I saw at the sites stay in Amiens or did day trips from Paris.

Front desk man was kind and friendly. Shower needed more hot water. Flushing Toilet needs upgrade. Breakfast was good.

No English spoken. Breakfast was ok. No lift. Main road location. Old fashioned traditional French hotel. I thought the room was tired and the tiny shower room with macerator toilet was disappointing. Paid €99 plus €11 for breakfast and 80c tax

Hotel had no English speaking staff, which made coms difficult. Bathroom damaged and towels very tired, one socket in the room that had to power everything inc the fan that had one speed. Macerating toilet was very noisy. Breakfast was okay if basic but the coffee machine only dispensed hot chocolate. Croissant was fresh and there were usual preserves but no apple juice. Manager owner was polite and made us feel welcome. Did not see the city tax and was chased for €1.60

We had a comfortable stay at this Hotel. Convenient parking and owner very helpful and friendly. Room was large, clean and quiet. Easy walk into centre.

Pleasant place to stay handy walk to town centre

Slightly tired in general but the room was clean and comfortable, even though power sockets not easy to get to. Very compact bathroom but all clean. Happened to coincide with the owner?/receptionist on arrival, but had instructions for entry in an email. Apart from that no contact with anyone.

Good basic clean hotel. Great location for the centre of Albert and its facilities
