The Appenzell Sollegg Ski Lift is right next to the property and Appenzell village centre is a 10-minute walk away. Shops, restaurants, bars and cafes can be visited there.

This was our second stay here and it was every bit as good as our first stay. The location and setting are quiet and peaceful and the view over Appenzell is great. The rooms are large and very clean. The breakfast has a nice variety of food, and we enjoyed it so much that we rarely ate lunch. We ate dinner at the hotel every night and had something different each night, and every meal was excellent. We travel all around Switzerland and this is one of our favorite hotels. Thank you Robert and Barbara for making our stay so enjoyable.

The hotel staff and owners were fantastic and the rooms were spacious and clean. The food was excellent and the chef/ Owner, Robert and his wife work hard to make the hotel in our view a 4 star rated facility. We found the hotel to be much better than some of our USA hotels that we have stayed over the years. As for transportation from the train Bahn to the hotel and vice versa was provided by Robert and his wife. You do not get this kind of personal service in the USA. The area of Appenzell is beautiful with great hiking and at day's end a hotel to look forward too relax and dine. A big five to all at the Freudenberg!!! Thank you for the experience!

I had a very comfortable room with full bath, balcony with a view over the town (preferred to stay here rather than in the town as quieter but still close). The set dinner was outstanding as was the breakfast buffet which had beautifully arranged fruit of all kinds, yoghurt, cereals, eggs cooked to order, ham, cheese etc. Honestly cannot fault my stay. The lift came in handy as well after hiking in the mountains!

Although we did not stay in the hotel our b&b made the recommendation for dinner. We had a fantastic evening! The views over Appenzell are stunning, even on a foggy rainy evening the view was good, until the heavy rain started. The staff were very kind and welcoming as were the local guests. The food was lovely, well presented and large portions. There were heaters to warm the outside seating area which was a very good idea as it made a great a**osphere. While you can drive up it’s only about 15 minute walk from the village. It’s a steep hill though so be prepared. Worth a visit!
