City Centre Motel Armidale

Good - Bed comfortable, bathroom renovated and great shower head. Continental breakfast plenty available Bad - Room needs a good clean. Chocolate wrapper under bedside table in full view of room, food crumbs on floor, rubbish on floor near bin, side tables not wiped down still had coffee marks, bin in bathroom not emptied. Disappointed for the price paid.

I have been a regular guest at this motel for a couple of years now and I am shocked! What a difference a change of owners can make? The previous owners were so accommodating and always went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and pleasant. These new owners are the complete opposite! My friends and I booked to stay over the most busiest weekend in April for uni. Let's just say we won't be staying here again. First, they over-quoted us. When we questioned it, they started to get extremely defensive and abusive. The previous owners used to turn the heater on for us so the room would be kept warm for when we arrived. We asked these new owners to please do the same for us and I have never heard so many excuses in my life. To top it off, they didn't empty our bins, change our towels or service our room properly. The bathroom is dank and old, the carpet looks like it hasn't been cleaned for ages and the air conditioner/heater spits out so much dust, we couldn't stop sneezing. It's such a shame because it used to be my favourite place to stay in Armidale but no more. I would suggest you stay away from this place if you can.

Very friendly staff, happy to assist. We booked two rooms for one night and found one room had been updated which was lovely, nice upgraded bathroom with a great shower head that reaches all of my body. The shower and vanity was clean. Good supply of toilet paper, body wash etc. the other room had a very old and outdated but shower was still clean. Clean sheets/towels. A great supply of tea,coffee,sugar in the kitchen area. Unfortunately the only issue we had was the cleanliness of the room in general was poor. (Bathroom was clean). The cutlery was dirty, multiple layers of dust and dirt around the kitchen area, Chinese tea set was still had drops of tea left in the pot. The toilet brush and cylinder definitely needs replacing as it was not hygienic at all, which is very sad and disappointing because the staff are lovely. A basic breakfast was included in the room which was nice to have. Parking was outside room.

Great spot, family room was generous and good value. Rooms are freshly renovated even if putside looks tired.

Accommodation was really good. The exterior is suffering from neglect needs a coat of paint and the gardens need some love, the lawns unmown for some time.

Had terrible experience with the hotel “manager” because I arrived 20 minutes after the reception office closed. I had the booking arranged on my behalf by NSW health and only received an email advising me about the place the have arranged for me during my placement in Armidale hospital. Apparently, they didn’t provide the hotel with my number. When I got here at 6:20 pm I saw an email sent to me asking to contact a phone number which turned out to be the manager who was onsite. There was 3 other ladies waiting as well. He came out outraged and yelling at everyone. I wasn’t close enough to hear what he was saying to them but after he finished I went to get my key. He didn’t ask even who I was and he handed the key and started pointing with his finger giving listens on how the booking should be done and how should I be very well aware that the hotel reception closes at 6pm (when there isn’t anything on the website go suggest so). I tried to call the next day to talk to his supervisor and he was like (I am the manager) and the reason why people should provide phone numbers was to “give the guest the best experience” per his words. It wasn’t after midnight, and I didn’t call him from 30 miles away but he was just disrespectful and I don’t think he should be doing what he is doing now

I’m a firm believer in you get what you pay for and I don’t expect much from motels as it was just an oversight stop but I dont expect to be creeped out and scolded for my money. Firstly the pictures do not truly depict the rooms, one we got anyway, bed was horrible, bathroom was tired and there was dust on the walls but what really boiled my blood was the horrible reception we and another guest received upon arrival. The confirmation says to contact the reception if you will arrive after 6. We lost signal on the road and called the motel / left voicemails at about 6.15 as soon as we got back online. When we arrived there around 6.30 the place was closed up, with lock boxes for late check in beside the door but we had received no code to access even though we pre paid and they had our email which we received the confirmation via so why they couldn’t send the code is beyond me!. There was no one around until a random man approached us asking if we were staying there , he didn’t identify himself, we asked if he was a guest he said no, we asked if he worked there he said no and proceeded to interrogate us in the most creepy unnerving manner until he disappeared and returned with keys. Why did he deny he worked there ???? He then proceeded to say “ what would you do if I wasn’t here???, they’ll take your money!!!” In the most condescending and ignorant tone I’ve ever heard. We informed him that the emergency number on the door was for this exact purpose and we would have called considering we then knew it was indeed his job to help . He gave us no information about breakfast or check out as you would expect he just wanted to chastise and TRY to humiliate 3 women in my opinion. We witnessed him do the same thing to a male guest , wagging his finger in the man’s face ! , that guest subsequently came to us later asking if we had similar interaction with him, he was on to the main office to complain at that point. If I had been a lone female traveller I’d would have got in my car and left he was so abrasive and cagey with us, quite frankly creeped us out. We spoke to a nice gentleman working at the reception next morning who gave us contact information for HQ and the man’s name so we can complain officially. I wouldn’t stay here again if my life depended on it and I’d advise anyone else to keep driving stay somewhere else.

Clean room, very comfy bed and quiet location. Nice to have breakfast included. Friendly staff. Will certainly stay here again.

Was not able to check in - had to sleep in the car. Late check in code that was supplied did not work. Called and called left messages, nothing. Was left out in the cold. Not a peep from the motel the next day. It seems they just don’t care!
