Malvarina

This was my 2nd time at Malvarina with the first being 30 years ago as part of a cooking program. I was fortunate enough to be able to cook with the matriarch, Maria, at the time who has sadly passed a few years ago. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of farm living in Assisi then and it was even better this time around. We booked a cottage on the farm which was very charming and comes with a kitchen, eating area and queen sized bed. There was another single bed that we used as a sitting area. The setting was not to be believed being situated among the many olive trees on the farm and with fantastic views of the Subasio valley. It's a wonderful change from the big hotels of Rome, Florence and Venice. The best part of the experience wasn't the farm, quaint cottage, olive trees, the views or the cats and dogs that become your pets, it was the food. Patrizia, Maria's daughter-in-law, has taken over the kitchen. Her food is the best I've had from all of my travels throughout Italy. I've said that before about Malvarian when Maria was cooking but Patrizia has not only honored Maria by her amazing menus that are flawlessly executed, she has taken the Malvarian kitchen to new heights and has added wonderful, new touches to Nonna's recipes. I've eaten in Piedmont, Venice, Milan, Rome, Bologna, Parma, Abruzzi, Naples, Amalfi Coast, Puglia and SIcily and yes, Malvarina is the best. For a great experience from staying in a cottage on a farm, to becoming part of the family to the food and surrounding areas throughout Umbria, go to Malvarina and use their agriturismo as your base just a few km from Assisi. You won't be disappointed and you won't break the bank either. I can't ay enough about my stay and the value of what I received vs the cost. Once you stay at Malvarian, it will become a most treasured memory you will have forever, I can absolutely vouch for all of the other 5 star reviews. Many thanks to Claudio, Patrizia, Giacomo, Filippo and the Malvarina team for their warmth and hospitality. The refresher course on hand rolled pasta will be yet another treasured memory and permanent part of my cooking repertoire. THank you all for your hard work in keeping Malvarina alive and well.

I can’t praise Malvarina enough. Stayed a couple of nights with a friend and we absolutely loved it. Great location on a hill outside of Assisi with terrific views over the valley and beautiful sunsets. The family and staff who run the farm are helpful and kind. The room was very comfy and clean. And the food was simply incredible! A set menu for dinner which changes each day, and based on the farm’s produce and local specialities. Great value! A relaxing and truly memorable stay!

Did a week-long trip through a good chunk of Italy and stayed in several hotels along the way, this being by some considerable margin the hands down best. The room was adorable with a big comfy bed and spectacular views out over the valley. Restaurant was amazing with a home-cooked set menu which changed daily. All the food here is locally sourced (much of it from the attached farm) and is delicious. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Highlight of the holiday was lying on the bed reading with the window open and all that lovely fresh air coming in. Definitely recommended!

Siamo stati a pranzo alla Malvarina domenica scorsa in 11 amici per un compleanno. Pranzo eccezionale, curato con tutte le attenzioni che avevamo indicato ( intolleranza al glutine per un'ospite), prodotti freschi e di provenienza casalinga. Più di così non potevamo aspettarci Il prezzo assolutamente onesto considerata la qualità del cibo e il lavoro che ha comportato il confezionamento Raccomandabile!

Abbiamo soggiornato per un solo giorno, ma ci è bastato per godere di un posto iincantevole immerso nel bosco. Abbiamo apprezzato molto le buone pietanze proposte, tanto da chiedere il bis! Complimenti a tutto lo staff per la qualità del cibo e la gentilezza dimostrata

L'agriturismo è davvero incantevole, immerso nel verde. Perfetto per famiglie, coppie e gruppi di amici. Le camere sono molto confortevoli ma il fiore all'occhiello sono le persone che ci lavorano, si riesce a percepire un amorevole ambiente familiare, sono tutti gentilissimi. In particolare voglio fare un ringraziamento a Giacomo che mi ha aiutata per un problema all'auto, è stato velocissimo e super disponibile. Assolutamente consigliato! Torneremo presto! Grazie per questa bellissima esperienza! Ps: si mangia da Dio! Tutti prodotti locali, menù fisso a 30 euro con 2 antipasti, primo, secondo, contorno e dolce, tutto rigorosamente fatto in casa!

Il posto è in una zona strategica per visitare qualunque posto. La cena impeccabile, si mangia benissimo, la stanza no. Buia, impossibile aprire la porta per cambiare aria perché entrano insetti e zanzare, l'unica finestra con zanzariera è minuscola e invasa da rampicanti, piena di terriccio e sporca. Il bagno ha una finestra che da su un cortile, non ha zanzariera e scherma la vista con un pezzo di compensato. Chiedete di avere pulizie giornaliere altrimenti viene sistemato solo il letto e gettato il pattume. Il materasso durissimo , in compenso tempestività nell'esaudire richieste. Un po' più di attenzione ai dettagli ad esempio sdraio e lettini in piscina un po' più nuovi, un bar aperto per un po' d'acqua durante il giorno e migliorare caffè e cappuccino. Ci è stato praticato uno sconto viste le nostre rimostranze sulla stanza. Non penso che ci torneremo. Sono tutti molto gentili.

Posto meraviglioso, immerso nella bellissima campagna umbra, dove è possibile vivere momenti di puro relax con la famiglia. Le stanze sono molto curate, accoglienti e pulite, personale gentile e professionale che riesce a farti sentire a casa… lo consigliamo caldamente.

5 stelle tutte meritate. Personale disponibile, gentile ed educato. Cibo di prima qualità con una cucina delicata e gustosa. Il giorno della prenotazione avevo chiesto la possibilità di avere una torta in quanto era il mio compleanno ed anche il dolce è stato di massima qualità. Qualità prezzo ottimo. Anche il locale stile rustico carinissimo.
