Play Theatrou Athens

We had a great stay across the New Year's Eve period. The hotel has a lovely terrace where we admired the fireworks over the whole city from on NYE. At the bottom of the hotel there is an amazing tiny family owned eatery which is just great for lunch. Breakfast is served in a separate shop and that's also delicious. The area around the hotel is a bit tricky but also very convenient to explore the city walking and enjoy its many restaurants and lively areas. The staff was all very kind and nice with us. Really a great stay!

The property was very clean, nice and very friendly staff. It was our Anniversary and I requested for some balloons and they managed it even with a short notice. Very understanding. The area outside property was bit not nice and was lonely. The breakfast where they provided was very good. There was noise outside which was bit disturbing but since it's in a party area can understand that.

This is my first stay in Athens. I picked the hotel for ratings and location. The outside is scaryand old. The streets around it, are the appearance of a war zone. When you walk 2 blocks, you are on the main shopping and tourist area and near most of things that you want to see. The are restaurants near by.. the rooms are small but nice. New bathroom and fixtures. Dont forget to bring your euopean outlets. The balcony was only standable.

Great small hotel with excellent and friendly service. The rooms are new, clean and comfortable. Breakfast in the nearby cafe was really tasty. Will definitely be happy to return.

The location is excellent. Everything else is also great except that there was very laud music in the neighborhood until very late (perhaps after 3:00am) one Friday night.

The hotel was very nice and the staff were very friendly. We really enjoyed the rooftop deck. It’s one of the highest in the area with a great view of the Acropolis. The beds were comfy and everything was in great order. The entire hotel was completely renovated within the past 5 years. The area around the hotel looks like a bit of a war zone though as we overlooked damaged, abandoned buildings below us, but this is pretty typical for a lot of the Athens downtown area. We never felt unsafe though. I would stay there again.

We love this part of the city in general. Very convenient location with many shops and restaurants The area directly adjacent to the hotel is a bit run down. Also at nighttime there was a lot of music coming from other rooftop bars. Could be a bit annoying. But not a problem for us as we are wearing ear plugs.

Great views of the Acropolis and surrounding areas (from level 7 and up). The balconies were perfectly roomy for two people, majority of them had two soft cusioned chairs and loveseat with table, net hanging chair and umbrella. We had the 8th floor and the balcony had about 100 square feet of space. What i didnt see in the reviews prior to booking, is the hostel across the street has a rooftop disco which starts up around 6 pm and ends around 2AM on Sat and around midnight on Sunday. Even with windows closed, could hear the music fairly well. Otherwise, during the daytime, it is rather a quiet neighborhood. Many buildings around the hotel are either vacant, in the process of renovation, or just abandoned. The Indian restaurant in front of Play is really good. The breakfast offered with additional payment is located about a 5 min walk off property. Breakfast selection is limited to the 'coupon holder', but is rather good. Service from the staff seemed to reapond faster to the non coupon holders (just our observation). Word of caution for those with lugging baggage from the closest metro - it is a rather long walk and not the smoothest of surfaces. Do youself a favor and get a taxi reserved from the staff at the hotel for an early flight out. Would i stay here again, sure.. but I like to visit many hotels when i visit Athens.

Overall, the place was nice. it was false advertisement on my room, because I was told we had a balcony in our room (Junior suite) and unless you had a penthouse room, there was no balcony! So i paid extra for a room that did not have a balcony. It was a public space that could hardly fit 3-4 people. The pool was NOT A POOL. It was a hot tub for about 2-3 people to fit in. VERY SMALL. There is food in the area, but not to close. Its a small India restaurant that has really great food!! So that made it much better!!
