Casa Mariquita offers comfortable, clean rooms for a reasonable price (given the inflated prices at Catalina. It is well located, within walking distance to all attractions, including the ferry dock. I read reviews complaining about the hill, and I frankly didn’t understand the fuss. Perhaps the people are older and sickly or just not used to walking. We were a group of women, two of us in our sixties and another, 86. We had no trouble walking that tiny hill to the hotel. The hotel can use a little renovation, especially the bathrooms, and the stairway need a power wash. But it has good bones and great curb appeal. Our double queen room was a little dark, but it served our purpose. You really can’t beat it for price and location.

The Hotel is close and walkable to town. You do have to be able to walk steps, we were on the second floor and it feels like three floors. There was a women that couldn't figure out how to get down the stairs with her luggage (she really needed to not roll it and just pick it up). My husband ended up walking it down for her, otherwise she was blocking the stairwell. There is a little rooftop patio, but you have to be standing to see the view, but it is nice to have an outdoor seating area. They have a little breakfast, coffee, granola bar, and a new pancake maker.

Stay away from this place. It is right on the main road that the VERY NOISY golf carts go on. Also, there are water stains on the ceiling, the bathroom is HORRIBLE, it is more like a Motel 6, the bathtub has corrosion on the bottom and the fixtures are corroded. We were promised an Ocean View, of which you can see from the VERY NOISY balcony. Additionally, the stairs and setting are dirty. In most places this room would be worth about $50. So very disappointed and I will tell everyone I know to avoid this place like the plague.

Unique hotel. Super clean rooms. Great open patio spaces. Just minutes to walk to everything! Friendly staff. Limited office hours, no elevator, but they will take bags if requested. Will stay again!

No maid service for three days. Terrible wifi reception. The people at the desk couldn’t answer the simplest questions about the town. The room was on the third floor with no elevator. Stay here only if everything else is full! Two stars is about right, it could have been worse.

Lovely place to stay in Avalon. Beautiful open interior. Room was tight with two double beds, and blinds had to be closed bc view was passageway, but even semi affordable accommodation in Avalon is tight. There was a nice shared balcony space to get a breather outside. Everything was very clean. Best was the staff, who could not have been nicer. Breakfast is only hot water and oatmeal and granola bars and coffee pods, but better to go out in Avalon anyway. Would have been nice to have tea bags. Greatly appreciated free bag storage on checkout. Location is excellent, just couple blocks up from main drag, before road gets steep.

I didn’t see a single ladybug. how is this hotel called casa mariquita if there aren’t any ladybugs. the bathroom tiles were broken and creaky. the bathroom door didn’t close completely no matter how hard you tried. the beds were creaky and uncomfortable. the walls were paper thin and we could hear EVERYTHING that was happening outside. so Oy Vey

Apparently a hurricane cancelling all transport to the island isn't a good enough reason for a refund or even a credit for a future stay. Unclear how exactly they expected people to use their bookings when they can't get there.

The hotel is just one block up from the beach and close and in walking distance to everything Avalon has to offer. The museum is next door. Only 10 minute walk to the ferry. The hotel has an old world and quaint feel to it, more boutique style than corporate, spacious enough,clean and an excellent bed. We got an early check in and helpful and super friendly service
