เริ่มด้วยการนั่งรถอันแสนยาวนานจากสถานีรถไฟอุดมไชย ระยะทางประมาณ 30กิโลเมตรกับเวลาประมาณ 1 ชั่วโมง วิ่งออกจากตัวเมืองไปเรื่อย เข้าสู่ชนบท ข้ามเขาไปอีกนับไม่ถ้วน จนถึงจุดหมายปลายทาง บรรยากาศห้องพักที่เลือกไว้ อยู่ท่ามกลางธรรมชาติอย่างแท้จริง ตรงระเบียงชานบ้านมีน้ำตกไหลผ่าน ถึงอากาศร้อนแค่ไหน แต่พออยู่ท่ามกลางธรรมชาติขนาดนั้น มันก้อยังสำผัสได้ถึงไอเย็นตลอด ตัวห้องพักอยู่สบายดี อาจจะมีแมลงบ้าง แต่ส่วนที่ทำให้ไม่ชอบคือ น้ำอุ่นที่ปรับให้อุ่นยากมาก การเดินทางจากตัวบ้านพักไปส่วนกลางของรีสอร์ทค่อนข้างไกลมาก ต้องเรียกรถมารับ หรือไม่ก้อต้องไปเอาจักรยานที่รีเซฟชั่นมาปั่นเอง แต่ส่วนที่ไม่ชอบที่สุดคืออาหาร รสชาติไม่ถูกปากอย่างมาก จานใหญ่มาก แต่ไม่อร่อยก้อกินไม่ไหวหรอกนะ แต่ก้อต้องกินเพราะแถวนั้นไม่มีอย่างอื่นให้กินเลย จนวันสุดท้าย ได้ลองอาหารลาว ถึงได้เจออาหารที่รสชาติดีขึ้น ไม่ถึงกับอร่อยมาก แต่ดีกว่าเยอะ กับอีกอย่างที่อยากให้ปรับให้ดีขึ้นกว่านี้ คือการเซอร์วิสที่บางครั้งต้องรอนานมาก อย่างเช่นอยู่ห้องแล้วอยากสั่งอาหาร หลังจากโทรเรียกแล้ว ใช้เวลาในการรอเกือบ 1 ชั่วโมงเต็มๆ หรือการพูดคุยกับลูกค้าที่ควรจะดีกว่านี้ เมื่อเทียบกับราคาที่พัก

酒店位於一個自然保護區內，在山上，空氣非常好，星空也很漂亮。房間緊鄰小溪，陽台上可小坐，感覺很舒服。早餐不錯。歐美人入住較多。有機會還想再次入住。

I find myself returning to Namkat year-round, drawn by its charm across all seasons. The cool, birding-friendly months from November to February are my most favorite, though the lush greenery and earthy scents brought by the rains from June to October have their own allure. After a hectic workweek, I eagerly anticipated a restful retreat in Namkat’s quiet luxury. As a regular guest, I was warmly greeted by Mr. Tom at the reception, whose efficient and friendly service always ensures a smooth check-in. This time, the bar terrace became my favorite spot, offering a stunning view of the full moon over the Namkat River. Kudos to Mr. Seuth, Sithong’s Somsouk and F&B team for their excellent food and drink recommendations. And a special mention: Namkat now has wood-fired pizza ! It’s a must-try—definitely ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ for the taste. The next morning, I embarked on a trek with Mr. Phet, my go-to guide for these adventures. His deep knowledge of the forest, wildlife, and local livelihoods never fails to impress me. On a previous trip in September, we explored orchids by the stream. This time, we ventured into the sunlit forest to see the big trees. It was a birding-focused trek, and we spotted Scarlet Minivets, Bronzed Drongos, Grey-backed Shrikes, Slaty-blue Flycatchers, and the delightful White-capped Redstart. Although we didn’t see snakes, we did find lots of squirrels, and also Serow footprints—a small thrill for any nature lover. The trek was therapeutic, filled with birdsong and tranquility, and I even found a peaceful spot within a giant tree hollow to jot down a brief autobiography for my daughters. Mr. Phet, ever professional and thoughtful, captured some great photos for me to share with my family. Namkat’s exceptional experiences are undoubtedly thanks to the GM, Benjamin, who is top-tier in tailoring programs to suit each guest’s preferences. Million stars to Benjamin and his incredible team for their outstanding service. I’ll be back early next year to catch the orchids in full bloom!
