Pebble Beach

My husband asked for a 50th birthday celebration with a sea view and Pebble Beach was beyond our expectations. From planning, menu choice and booking, the staff couldn’t have been more friendly, helpful and professional. We hired out the penthouse for a celebration of around 18 of us. The living area was set up for our three course meal which was delicious. There were a few fussy kids in the group and the chef was happy for them to choose from the bar menu instead. The rooms are modern, bathrooms are gorgeous and it has a kitchen area which came in very useful. The Euros semi finals was on that afternoon and we were a rowdy lot, but the staff couldn’t have been more attentive and friendly. We had a mix up with the cake which was our fault and they were brilliant at rectifying it swiftly and professional. The view - the main star of the show, was spectacular. It was quite windy on the day which meant picture taking for the girls was problematic for their hair, but holding a cocktail looking out over the needles ended the day perfectly. A big shout out to the manager Joao on that night who was brilliant (he even helped my mother in law up the stairs), Emma for the excellent planning and the waiting staff who were great to be around. We loved it so much my husband and I are planning a return on our own (to revisit that view).

Staff were lovely. Pizzas were very good. Took 3 goes to bring me a decaf iced Americano with cold milk on the side. First came out a hot milky Americano. Then came out an iced latte and on waiting another 15 minutes after that I got my iced Americano with a small jug of cold milk on side..!! Erin’s service was outstanding. Will come back on another sunny day and soak up the views… and maybe order a cocktail!!! :))

Restaurant recommended by friends, so we booked for mid-day Wednesday. It was a quiet time with only a few others dining. That said the service was friendly and quick. We had a starter and main course followed by coffee. Presentation of food was beautiful and and tasted delicious. Certainly value for money. If there were a problem we found our table too close to the next one where the people were happy to share their conversation with us.

We’re booked into room 5, Purbeck, and we’re very disappointed. Room looks exactly like the pictures however you are not advised that this room overlooks the kitchen roof including the noisy extractor fan. This could be heard even with the windows closed and very noisy with windows open. Staff attitude was well it goes off at 9pm, so only on in the day time!! We’re not offered anything to make up for this and because all other rooms were booked (which we do appreciate) we cancelled the reservation and found an alternative hotel.

We visited here for lunch and sat outside overlooking the beach. We was welcomed by a lovely young man called Mike. He was very prompt in taking our order and bringing our drinks. We had the rose sangria recommended by him amd it was very nice and refreshing. Our food arrived within 15 minutes by the waitress who was also very friendly . We had the cheese and meat sharing platter which was so much nicer than we expected and the portion was plenty. Will definitely return with friends.

Stayed for two nights and although the service was good and everyone was friendly and helpful the accommodation definitely needs a refurb. It is tired in my opinion and I would definitely not class it as luxury. Side entrance to the accommodation is very underwhelming and does not give a great first impression . Stair carpet looks dirty and the entrance and stairway up to the accommodation could do with a refurb. Windows in the bedroom have obscured covering due to the view outside being otherwise dreadful. Walls are very thin indeed and the person next door kept me awake snoring. Also couple using foul language and obviously having a big row is not what you want to hear on your first day at the hotel. Bath towels are very small - and I’m not big but could just about wrap it round me. Breakfast does not offer cereal - just cooked breakfast options or croissant. Tables in the bar and restaurant were sticky to the extent I did not want to put my phone down on them as it stuck to them! The awning on the back of the building is tatty and visually unappealing, as was the outside seating area. With a fantastic outlook over the sea it has a great position but it could be so much better. Very disappointed and not what I had hoped for or expected .
