Elgin Villa

After overcoming our surprise that no Wi-Fi was available, we enjoyed out stay. Room was adequate, facilities were dated but functional and breakfast was good. Margarita was knowledgeable and helpful. Location was convenient to the Botanic Gardens, the Royal Crescent and just a short walk downtown.

Average B&B. Clean and comfortable beds but the facilities need updating. Being in a front room however we did have a lovely view. Breakfast was uninspiring and limited which was surprising as we had stayed in other B&Bs on the trip where they prided themselves on great food. Even some yogurt would have been welcomed. However Elgin Villa is close to the attractions of the city centre.

The location was ideal and parking situation useful and well priced. However, the overall price was very high for a guest house, whose decor was fixed in the 1990s, staff were functional, but it did feel that the owners were carrying on working when frankly they'd had enough. The breakfast was disappointing with only microwaved scrambled egg and toast being the hot component of breakfast. We decided to forgo this on the second day to allow Hinckley Point it's new ball bearings

I stayed here during my trip to Bath. The couple that ran the establishment were very sweet. The area is not far from the city center at all. A word of warning: there is no Wi-Fi. Since I was looking to disconnect on this trip, that wasn't a problem for me. That might be a problem for some people, so want to let people know about that.

Lovely B and B, well situated for top end of town, clean if a little tired in places but that adds to the charm. Family room was great, beds really comfy. Plenty of space for all of us. The shower was a little small but my other half is quite big! The couple that run it are so helpful and kind. Have on site parking which is fab in Bath. Breakfast was great - we do like a bit of bacon with our scrambled egg but no complaints really in what was on offer. Highly recommended.

Het geheel kon wel een verfje gebruiken, maar dat is op zich niet erg. De kamer was schoon en ruim genoeg en het bed sliep heerlijk. Wel erg gehorig daar we de bovenburen duidelijk konden horen. Ligging van de B&B was prima, fijn dat er privéparkeerplaats bij was (betaald). We mochten ook de dag van vertrek nog blijven staan en dat was vriendelijk. Er was geen wifi in de B&B, daarvan was ik niet op de hoogte. In heel Bath is de internetontvangst niet zo goed omdat het in een dal ligt. Dat hoeft niet erg te zijn, maar wel handig om te weten. Het ontbijt vond ik, hoewel ik weinig eisen stel, benedenmaats. Roerei was lekker, maar de toast wat taai. Croissants en briochebroodjes kwamen uit de supermarkt en niet van de bakker. Verder geen keuze uit ander ei of verse broodjes. Het fruit bestond uit alleen wat druiven. Er was een incident met de onvriendelijke gastvrouw; zij heeft duidelijk een probleem. Wij kiezen voor een B&B omdat we geïnteresseerd zijn in andere mensen en culturen. Ik hoorde een accent bij de gastvrouw en vroeg vriendelijk waar zij vandaan kwam. Dat viel totaal verkeerd; ze voelde zich ondervraagd en reageerde nors en boos. Een andere gast raakte haar arm aan waarop ze 'raak me niet aan!' snauwde. Dit gaf ons in de ontbijtzaal allemaal een zeer ongemakkelijk gevoel. Omdat ik me er rond onder voelde, liet de gastheer weten dat het niet mijn bedoeling was om zijn vrouw een vervelend gevoel te geven. Mevrouw kwam uit de keuken stuiven en ging alsnog tekeer tegen me; of het me uitmaakte wie me 'bediende'. Zij had echt duidelijk issues. Ik heb excuses gemaakt en meneer probeerde de boel te sussen, maar ik was echt aangeslagen door dit alles. Gelukkig was dit op de check-out dag gebeurd want hier wilde ik beslist niet blijven. Geen aanrader deze B&B en totaal niet wat ik gewend ben.
