Apartamentos Benalbeach

Currently staying here via Air B&B. Listed as a luxury apartment! Start with positives. The room is decent size and balcony over looks beach. A luxury description and as we found out a 2 star hotel (no mention on air bb) dont go together. Booked via benal coast properties (AVOID) On arrival the room 505 was filthy, crumbs all over with ants running wild, cockroach in kitchen cupboards, shattered glass in lounge patio which is cellotaped up and serious hazard if a small child runs into it. Fittings are years old. Wood chip paper on ceilings coming away door frames rotten, old marked paintwork, shower is like a garden hose pipe, floor tiles chipped and marked throughout. This is a luxury apartment dont forget! Charged 76 by benal coast properties for cleaning which my wife ended up doing on arrival. They flatly refused to refund this charge as stated would come back and do it which is a bit late once you arrive! Stayed in cleaner b&b in blackpool in 80s ( no offence Blackpool). Air b&b were of no help and just backed agent so no surprice there. You have a great choice here in benalmadena so please dont be fooled by the luxury description its nothing of the sort.

Apologies this will be a long one, but if you are going or thinking of going here, you need to read. We stayed (so this is our informed review) at Benal Beach Aparthotel for 38 days from April to June 2024. Very close to lovely beaches, restaurants, bars, Marina and transport. 15 mins from Malaga Airport… The complex is vast. A mix of small, medium and large apartments. At this time it’s going through some major maintenance, so expect noise. In fact the whole time we were there, the building and gardens were being worked on. Lots of bagging, scraping, drilling, sawing etc. In fact the complex has little to no soundproofing. Banging doors, and screaming kids (& adults) at all hours could be heard constantly. At times the slamming of doors throughout the building were so loud and frequent that we were often woken with a start. The lifts could do with a full overhaul as they shook and rattled and jumped, making us at times think we were taking a chance using them, On a more pleasant note, the swimming pools and gardens are really well looked after, the two groundsmen we saw worked their socks off in 24-27* heat, so kudos to them. My complaint about the pool area was the fact you had to pay for the sunbeds. At a cost of €5 per bed, 1st time I’ve ever heard of this in a hotel and this can be very expensive, especially if you have a family. We purchased 2 reclining deckchairs at a cost of €35 each, which paid for themselves in a week. If we’d paid for the hotels Sunbed’s for 38 days it would have cost us €380! Which I think is ridiculous. The beach sunbeds were €7 each!!! Also for a complex that can host (according to their signs) 825 people around the pools, they only have 1 toilet Block with 2 female cubicles and 2 male cubicles and 3 urinals! These were always in a mess, missing toilet paper, pee all over the seats, and sometimes poo! and puddle wet floor. Then they would just close them so we had to go all the way to our room on the 5th floor on the other side of the hotel to use the bathroom. This sounds review sounds really bad, but we did however have a great time on our vacation (we got a good deal, & you get what you pay for) and we love Benalmadena, but we will be looking for a smaller, quieter location for next time. The slide in the pool nearly killed me today. It is WAY too fast and I literally flew out of it and landed back in, on my face. Would NOT recommend. The accommodation was okay. The whole place could do with an update TBH. All shops but 3 are empty. The bar shut in the evening.

Brilliant ground apartments, lovely view either side and so fantastic grounds, pool was closed and the gardens/grounds were closed. Pools were emptied. Apartment is a relatively good size, comes equipped and fantastic view of the mountains. Bus stop is close aswell.

We stayed here for 6 weeks in December in Block 4 1st Floor, firstly I cant fault the accommodation we had, it was well equipped for a long stay, clean and tidy and had a fantastic Sea View from the Balcony, the Beach is literally across the road, plenty of Bars etc to left and right, I agree with other reviews that there is absolutely no noise control, even thought there are signs everywhere saying to be silent between the hours of 10pm to 10am, we did experience Dogs Barking, and unfortunately Shouting and arguments in the early hours of the morning on a couple of occasions and Security did nothing to resolve this, it is also a sad fact that the noise did come from some Scots, and English people. The Pools were closed with it being Winter and no loungers either so cant comment on that, also no Loungers on the beach at that time of year, but plenty of Bars etc open, if you are wanting a relaxed atmosphere try the Sportsman, Wetherspains and Ten Ten Bars on the main road all Friendly and welcoming. Would I go back to Benal Beach Aparthotel? Perhaps with ear plugs because of its fantastic location.

I really want to raise the issues we had on arrival at this particular hotel. The hotel itself looks nice on pictures, on arrival it could not be any more opposite. I travelled with my pregnant partner and my 2 year old daughter. When we finally managed to find our room (with no help from reception), it was swarmed by mosquitos outside the door. When we entered the room, we was shocked by the disgusting smell inside the room. Also being cautious not to let any mosquitoes in the room itself. The bedding was itchy and dirty, the bathroom was disgusting. The air conditioning was not working. The balcony was filthy. It was absolutely unacceptable for anyone to spend a night, let alone a family. I was absolutely disgusted with the state of the room. I was texting the helpline who suggested there is an “insecticide” spray underneath the kitchen sink and to spray the mosquitos. I refused obviously as this is not my responsibility and did not want to risk the mosquitos coming in the room. The hotel admitted that they had issues with mosquitos during the dry season, which I found concerning as it had been raining. I cannot express how much this hotel should not be on ***********. Please do not let this experience happen to any other family. I look forward to your response

Worst place I've ever stayed at ever in my life. From 10pm till 3am nothing but noise.. how are you ment to get any sleep at all with guests blaring out tvs would post the video of my experience so people would understand the volume of this noise. Shame as its a lovely apartment via *********** ruined by their own customers. Had to go round trying to find ear buds witch don't cancel the noise either made from your own guests. Never again ever staying here. Hostel is quiter.

The apartment was clean but basic Location is great near the beach plenty shops bars etc early morning call every morning by a roaster Security to get into the pool area over the top WHY ?? €4.50 for a lounger at the pool no matter what time of day WHY? The owners of apartments will pay a service charge for pool /grass cutting etc so why can the complex charge again makes it very expensive for families every day

We stayed in an Airbnb which itself was good but what is with this apartment complex? Why is there such extreme security - it’s a dilapidated building in dire need of a major revamp! And you can’t get out of it for love nor money. For some unknown reason they lock all the exits aside from the main one from 10pm to 10am - WHY? Aggressive receptionists and over the top security at the pool - I’m waiting for a sniper to jump out at any minute!
