Post Ranch Inn

We stayed at Post Ranch Inn for my wife's birthday. It offers a truly unparalleled experience, combining breathtaking views of the Big Sur coastline with luxurious, eco-friendly accommodations. With amenities like infinity pools, a lap pool, spa treatments, yoga classes, nature walks, sound baths, and even falconry, Post Ranch Inn offers a deeply relaxing and tranquil atmosphere. The entire staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive, especially at reception and Lexus driver service, which made our stay all the more enjoyable. Our dinners/breakfasts at Sierra Mar were a fantastic experience (food, wine, service, views), and we appreciated the unhurried pace, allowing us to savor both the food and the incredible views. With pools open 24 hours, we could enjoy sunrise, sunset, or stargazing whenever we wanted. We’ll definitely be back!

You cannot prepare yourself for the jaw-dropping view that awaits you when you walk into one of the cliffside dwellings at Post Ranch Inn. And at night, the stars are so vivid you could almost imagine that the world around your little house had been transformed into some prehistoric paradise where the stars dominate the night sky and the artificial lights of mankind are nowhere to be seen. I had an Upper Pacific Suite, and it was one of the most impressive hotel suites that I have ever stayed in. Minibar was stocked and restocked with delicious treats, several of which I’ve started buying for myself at home. The ranch is well designed and laid out, very private, and has a lovely art gallery and mercantile from which I acquired a few pieces. The standout element of this place is the falconry program. What a wondrous encounter with some very special birds of prey. The stars of the show for me were the little burrowing owls and Diego, who I got to interact with up close and personal. I walked away with a great respect for these birds and their place in the ecosystem. I also really enjoyed the connection I felt when looking into their eyes. Post Ranch Inn is one of the best hotels that I have ever stayed at and I look forward to returning.

We splurged for my husbands 70th! They treated us like king and queen. The first words we heard from DJ was “welcome, you have been upgraded”’!!!I was so happy, the rooms are very pricey and they probably cater to alot of well off people which we r not, we stayed 1 night, but the friendliness and attention to detail seems very genuine! DJ so helpful with recommendations, Bjorn always at hand to assist, give us a tour or ride , Sergio who we remembered when we stayed for 2 nights in 2006, the kindness goes a long way! We still stop about Sergio to this day, taking us around in the golf cart. My only disappointment was that after we stayed in 2006, they said they would honor the same price if we ever came back, well I guess 18 years later they couldn’t keep prices at $850/night, but we did receive a small discount. Every person was wonderful and genuinely happy! We found out later our waiter Trevor is one of the talented artists on the property , we also ran into one of the wood workers who told us he and his son did a lot of work on the property. We were only there 24 hours! But as u can tell we were very impressed with Everything and Everybody!!! Thank u Post Ranch Inn!! Sincerely, Kevin and Linda O’Rourke!!!!❤️

This was our first visit to Big Sur and the Post Rqnch Inn. It was magical. The stunning natural beauty was complimented by the serenity of Post Ranch Inn. The property, our room and amenities and attentive staff allowed for us to completely relax. It was as a restorative experience. I am looking forward to a return visit in the future.

Top notch experience from start to finish. The staff were incredible, the property impeccable, and the views are beyond description. Our beautiful room was perched on the edge of a cliff overlooking the Pacific. No details were overlooked including a wood burning fireplace all inclusive snacks and drinks and incredible privacy. The bed was very comfortable and the hot tub was great. The restaurant (Sierra Mar) was a highlight as well. Great views, superb food, and excellent signature cocktails. Homemade breakfast pastries were another highlight. A special shout out to Tim Lee (GM). He and his team were incredible. Super friendly and fully committed to making sure we had an unforgettable trip. Definitely a “next level”customer service experience. Looking forward to returning soon. JM

It’s a bummer to be writing this review but I feel like I should warn others about our experience. I guess I’ll take it up with American Express in a chargeback. The good The facility was gorgeous The staff was friendly The bad There was a power outage and their generator blew and the septic wouldn’t work, there was no electricity, it was freezing, there was feces in all the toilets it smelled so rancid in the shared bathrooms, no pool, no spa, no communication, no warm food, no coffee for a good amount of time. We had to leave the grounds. The really bad I didn’t want to ruin my boyfriend’s birthday weekend so I didn’t complain while we were there but also assumed for 2k a night they would offer a complimentary stay, or apologies or something. They did offer a resort credit but we also had to leave the premises so that seemed pretty even Steven to us. Missed our spa appointment without communication or apologies and then said later that the spa was open after all. That was my boyfriend’s birthday gift. No acknowledgment of his birthday at dinner either even tho other tables were celebrating. In any case, the vibe here is as rancid as the smell of their facilities when the power it out. They have ignored my emails, blown me off, I didn’t even ask for anything, even just an apology would have been nice. The only full day we were there was spent off the grounds. Bottom line is they don’t care about their guests if anything goes wrong.
