Property was just ok... we recieved no room upgrade and it seemed the premium upgrade wasn't much at all. Just overall so... so.

I have been to this resort before and I think it is a good all inclusive. Beautiful spot. I thought the buffet dining area could use some tips.

We spent a week here 2/10/24-2/17/24. The location was amazing, but that is where the benefits of this resort ended.
My husband got violently ill on Monday night through Tuesday. The rest of our 8 person party spent the week eating Charcoal pills, Immodium, or Tums do to GI issues also. The bathrooms in the rooms where not cleaned thoroughly often leaving residue on the toilets and the bathrooms throughout the resort were generally not working most of the time. We lost power almost daily, not for long, but still lost it. We were not impressed with the food at the reservation only restaurants or the staff, it almost seemed like we were a burden to them.
The last full day we were on resort we left our room at 12 returned at 4, when we left our room had already been cleaned by housekeeping, but there was a maintenance worker in the room next to our room which had not been occupied the whole week we were there. When we returned around 4 the safe would not let me into it and kept erroring. We called down to the front desk and they sent up a security staff member. He quickly opened the safe and asked me to make sure I could open it with the same code. I verified that I could open the safe and relock it, but did not look into it while he was in the room. 15 minutes later I opened the safe to get some cash out and realized that our cash, around $2000 was missing. We kept our money in the safe locked at all times even when we were in the room.

Such a beautiful location with a wonderful resort right on the beach. It was very clean and well maintained. The epitome of what an all inclusive resort should be. My only question what why is the swim up bar not in the adults only pool?

Front desk were very nice and helpful. Bell man was very knowledgeable about the room and explained everything about the room. Various dining options. The food is not very good. Not many options. The grounds are very nice and peaceful.

We originally booked this Barcelo in Puerto Vallarta because we absolutely loved their Adults Only location in Riviera Maya. This location wasn’t as great. It was perfectly fine but there was some key things that lessened the experience for us. First, the fact that we only got 2 meals in their restaurants even though we stayed for 4 nights was odd. The buffet was ok but strange we didn’t get a proper dinner every night. Also, the staff was fine but a decent amount weren’t the friendliest. There also wasn’t nearly enough at the pools. Lastly, why is your swim up bar in the non-adults only pool? No one wants to enjoy cocktails in the pool at the bar with a bunch of children splashing and playing. Overall the resort was clean and the setting is quite beautiful but if you’re looking for a relaxing non-kids resort, this isn’t for you. If I had kids, I think I would rate this resort higher.

Our stay was good. I would recommend contacting the hotel (Adelina) to arrange VIP car to get to the hotel. It was 54 US and so fast, as we know others had to wait quite awhile for cabs and paid more than that. Our check in was great and we had no issues. She was very fast and answered questions quickly. The staff was great and very nice. We had no problem getting reservations for dinner at the al a cartes and the food and service was great. Our room was large and always clean. On Valentines day, our room staff made us a lovely towel oragami of 2 swans with flower hearts, so amazing. The pools were amazing and warm. The only issue is that you are not allowed to bring food to the poolside.. you have to eat at the snack bar (Cantina) or the beach side restaurant. Bit of a pain. Drinks were good though, however, I would recommend a drink menu at the bars to give everyone a good idea of what is available so we are not guessing as to what any drink names are. Would recommend the "free city tour". It was interesting and Freddy, our guide, was interesting and you could tell he loves his home. The lunch you are offered at the end during the tequila tasting was AMAZING. Bring your visa as it is not included and if you want to purchase any Tequila ... even if you are not a lover, was fantastic. Overall not much to do for entertainment, but would recommend if you want quiet lovely grounds to relax on.
