Hotel Victoria

Very convenient for the railway station as it is directly across the road. This is an older hotel with older furnishings and a positively antique elevator. The hotel seems to have many English guests and, perhaps as a result, my room had a kettle which is not common in Swiss hotels. My room was larger than many rooms in Swiss hotels but, although described on the website as having a "bath" it had a shower with not bath tub and a shower curtain which clung to me while I took a shower. The breakfast didn't have as many choices as some other Swiss hotels. The wifi, hot water and comfort of the bed were fine.

We were allocated a room in the old part of the hotel which was old fashioned & tired but clean. The beds were comfortable & we requested extra pillows which we received. Tea/coffee making facilities, 1 socket at dresser & more sockets under the bed side lockers, tiny inroom safe which was lockable with a key, told you it was old fashioned, flatscreen tv. Wifi initially poor but did improve. No air con but a fan was available. Ample hanging & shelving space. Soap bar at basin & soap dispenser in the shower which was surrounded by a plastic shower curtain. Decent water pressure. Hairdryer. Breakfast consisted of cereal, boiled eggs, various breads & rolls, hams & cheeses, fruit, good coffee machines. Dinner was independent from the hotel. The food was fine. The worst thing was the really sloooooow service with the 3-course meal taking over 2½ hours, not the fault of the 2 hardworking waitresses, please note, more staff required. Staff were friendly & the owner was open to a bit of banter. Tiny slow lift & steps from pavement into hotel make handling luggage difficult, no porterage. Exit hotel right for Post Office, shops & restaurants. Exit hotel left for trains including the Glacier Express. We were on a Riveria group tour consisting of 50 people on a ½ board basis.

Stayed at this hotel for two nights, we used Brig to take the glacier express, we chose this hotel as it’s directly across from platform 12 which is where the train departs. The hotel rooms are dated but comfortable most have balconies. The duty manager was extremely helpful in securing me a car park. Excellent European breakfast served.

The Hotel was very clean and the rooms very comfy & warm, the staff very friendly & helpful, especially Stacey who severed our meals & helped at the bar. This hotel is just across the road from the train station which is a link hub for your travels around Switzerland.

Stayed here for 4 nights as part of a Riveria Tour of Switzerland Great location - opposite railway station and tram stops with a Co-op supermarket just around the corner Very close to shops, bars and restaurants Staff were fairly friendly Rooms were dated and old fashioned but were clean and comfortable Breakfast was good The included evening meal was ok - you have a choose of two items which you need to decide on the day before. They can also provide a vegetarian option. The restaurant staff were very friendly The negatives : the plus of being close to the station and trams means that the rooms were very noisy. There is no air conditioning - the room was hot and stuffy and you couldn’t keep the window open due up the noise. Thankfully a fan is provided but proper air conditioning is really needed

Our room was at the front, with a small balcony overlooking the station. Pleasant views of the mountains. Dinner was well presented but with limited options. Central location. The lack of air conditioning was an issue as the weather was very warm. Had to sleep with the balcony doors open, so noise from the trains was a problem.
