More details and family-friendly reviews on my blog 'The Frenchie Mummy' and on Instagram @thefrenchiemummy. So Google it and have a look there too. Merci! What a beautiful place! We saw it from outside with the impressive building and once we were in, I fell in love with the decor, very chic! The food was very good and both waitresses who served us were very friendly, happy to talk about the local area and things to do etc. We did not stay at the hotel but the spa looked good too.

We came for afternoon tea on Monday afternoon, my friend and myself hadn't been to this hotel before and we were so impressed, the setting is just gorgeous and the hotel is beautifully decorated. The manager Michael came over to greet us and asked if we needed anything, we told him about an allergy and he arranged for separate items for my friend. The food was delicious with plenty of mini desserts, scones and sandwiches. The staff were really attentive topping the teapot up several times and offering a top up of sandwiches too. Michael popped over again later to check we had everything we wanted, we chatted about some events coming up in the future that we will be looking at coming along to. We spent the rest of the afternoon sat outside with a few glasses of Prosecco enjoying the surroundings, it was a perfect treat. We will definitely be coming back.

Great hotel. Found the staff very helpful - for example at dinner the manager gave me a link to an app for walking in new forest. Room was large and very clean. Breakfast is included and was amazing. Also had dinner there with 3 friends. Reasonably priced and excellent. Would highly recommend it and I will stay there again.

My family and I had the most wonderful stay . We were a party of 16 ranging in age from 9 months to 86 with two dogs. The staff were amazing and made us feel really welcome and relaxed. They could not have been more helpful, always kind, and we had excellent service. We all had dinner together in the Beresford restaurant and the food was delicious and again the service was excellent. We have been coming as a family for many years . Everyone had a wonderful time . Maria handled our large and complex booking with such skill and made sure everything was perfect for the whole family both when we arrived and throughout our stay. Many happy family memories were made . It really is a very special place indeed.

This is a large yet comfortable hotel where you feel that you are the only people staying there by the staff. From the excellent reception and throughout the stay all your like and needs are stored and you never have to tell anyone twice. Even the most senior manager mucks in when needed with whatever job is at hand. You feel that everyone is working together on your behalf. We had an excellent stay and will certainly return in the future.

We stayed at Balmer Lawn over the Easter break and it was so good we have booked again for May half term! We stayed in room 18 which which was very spacious and met our family needs, it was very clean and well-maintained. All of the staff, including front desk, food and beverage and housekeeping were welcoming, friendly and very helpful. My sons (4 and 8) loved the games room and we all enjoyed the delicious breakfast. The inside pool was clean and well-maintained, we are looking forward to trying the outside pool during our next break. My older son and I spent an evening in the inside / outside bar area wrapped up in blankets reading books and were made to feel very welcome. We didn't eat in the restaurant during the visit but are planning to eat there next time

What a lovely hotel! All of the staff are so helpful and friendly. After being offered a free upgrade and a fabulous dinner bed and breakfast rate, I felt I deserved a spa treatment. Claudia is an excellent masseuse and ensured I entirely relaxed with an hour aromatherapy massage. Dinner was fabulous and I have come away feeling totally rejuvenated. I would definitely recommend this lovely hotel and am thrilled I was able to secure such a great rate by booking directly . Thanks to the whole team !

On arrival at the hotel we were greeted warmly and made to feel right at home. The hotel is inclusive, we are both disabled but found it easy to get about and use the facilties. There are lifts and ramps discreetly blended into the layout, without imposing on the aesthetics. The hotel is excellent for pet owners who can bring their dogs with them and enjoy the restaurant without needing to mix with other guests who may not appreciate this. Those who smoke can do so away from indoor areas and non smokers without feeling ostracised. There are plenty of facilities such as gym, sauna, play area, indoor and outdoor pools as well various private dining/meeting rooms. We did not use any of the facilties as mentioned but enjoyed the delicious and reasonably priced food and drinks the restaurant offered. The weather was fantastic and we enjoyed company on the patio area in the restaurant and even on the 'Brockenhurst beach' a few yards away. If outside when it cools down there are heaters and even blankets to allow guests to continue enjoying the environment. The food and drinks were excellent and we were ably looked after by Samantha in the afternoon and later Adam helped us with the menu offering advice and an excellent helpful and friendly service. Breakfast was a choice of continental or cooked breakfast buffet but we could have ordered off the extensive breakfast menu. Thanks everyone at Balmer lawn, we look forward to coming back

We were driving through the new forest and spotted this place and decided to give it a go as traffic was really bad on the Saturday . We were pleasantly surprised how nice this place was and was greeted by a man with a colourful shirt called mark , he was very polite and gave us a warm welcome . We then sat down and didn't wait long as the young lad with tattoos was quick to take our order . We decided on ordering a few pizzas , they were delicious! The only thing I wish is that they served pizzas in the evening and not just to 6pm
