Bowood Hotel, Spa, and Golf Resort

I have been here twice now just to visit the spa and have some treatments. The staff are lovely and so friendly. The spa facilities are lovely but the loungers in the pool area surprised me a bit. They were a bit rusty and some wire poking out around the edges which could have been a bit dangerous if you got caught on it especially poolside. The surroundings are just gorgeous especially from the pool looking out onto the fields and the nature you see is just amazing. The afternoon tea is lovely and you have a choice of eating outside or inside. Again, the staff are lovely. I was quite surprised at the cost of small snacks on reception - very expensive! The relaxation room is gorgeous but the only thing that spoilt it for me were two things. 1. The main door onto reception being left open constantly which meant a lot of noise. 2. The group of ladies who decided to enter and have an incredibly loud conversation despite signs saying 'silence'. I feel like perhaps staff could have reminded them as my relaxation experience using this room when they entered was pretty much non-existent!

My partner surprised me with a stay here for my birthday! We had a room on the ground floor near the spa which was very clean and spacious, nicely furnished and with a big bathroom (separate shower and bath). As well as yummy cookies, the team had left some chocolates in the room with a birthday message which really added that special touch! The spa was never too busy (though we were there on a weekday) and we enjoyed our walk around the grounds — ask for a map to see the different walking routes. We saw lambs, deer and even a few hares! Staff were very friendly and the food was consistently good. They cooked breakfast to order and dinner was excellent, if a little pricey. Our only minor issue was that drinks in the restaurant took a while to arrive — we had to chase these up and they only arrived halfway through our mains.

I don’t know why I havent reviewed Bowood before as I eat there fairly often and always recommend it to friends visiting Wiltshire. As we live nearby we haven’t experienced the rooms (our friends say they are fab) but the restaurant is simply perfect for lunch. The team is exceptional, extremely kind, thoughtful and professional. I love the lunch menu, Bouddah bowl if we feel virtuous (colourful, healthy and feeling) , or wagyu burger for a special treat. Well run, lovely menu, can’t fault it. Thank you.

The hotel suite was perfect. All staff from the Bar/ restaurant and reception were very attentive. Food was amazing. Special mention goes to Jenny at the reception desk who went over and above the call of duty,after we had checked out. My golf club had snapped in half earlier that day on the golf course, and I threw it away in the outside bin, but realised much later that I could have it repaired. I called when I got home, and spoke with Jenny, who ran along to the clubhouse, fished it out of the bin and packaged it up, posted it out to me, and it arrived the next day!! Thanks so much. Apologies if you had to rummage through rubbish!

Me and my sister went for a half an hour spa treatment today for our birthday and it was just perfect. The staff were so friendly welcoming us and made us feel at home straight away. We were then introduced to our therapists who were both fantastic. The foot and leg massage was dreamy and topped off with a small gift of multiple creams, mists and oils as a birthday present. So very kind and unexpected. Can’t wait to go back already

Just returned from a two day golf break at Bowood! The staff were wonderful nothing too much trouble. The hotel was lovely and warm and the golf was very good grounds were kept beautifully. We had a couple of meals here the food was exceptional we all had different food and everyone was so happy with it! The barman and the chef were so kind and friendly! A lovely club to go to and stay and costs were very reasonable! Will definitely be back

Went here for dinner as a family of six. Bar staff were attentive, however restaurant staff were the complete opposite. It took ages for our order to be taken, clearly hotel guests take priority over non staying guests. Our drinks order didn't appear, one of our family members had to go to the bar to chase it up. They hadn't received the order from our waitress. The food was excellent but not once did any waiting staff come and ask if we needed anything or to check on our meals. We also had to ask for more drinks at the bar as no one came to check if we required anymore. All in all, we had a lovely evening, food was delicious just desperately let down by the service

What a lovely stay. From the moment we arrived we were looked after. A lovely hotel with beautiful interiors, although the restaurant slightly dated, the other communal areas were gorgeous - especially in front of the fire! The Spa was nice, especially the relaxation area, but not enough beds around the pool and also dependant on where you sit you have to either swim or walk around the pool to get to jacuzzi which seemed like a design flaw. I wasn't allowed my massage unfortunately due to health reasons but I appreciate how kind the therapist was when dealing with this and was given a glass of bubbly instead which I appreciated. The gentleman on the bar in the evening (blonde mid-length hair but forgot name, sorry!) was super lovely, as was Sophie in the bar/restaurant. The main let down was the atmosphere in the restaurant as mentioned - much quieter and staff not quite so chatty and happy to see us, forgot to ask what toast we'd like for breakfast etc just those small things that make a difference - but overall still really good and no major flaws so definitely not a complaint! Loved the options for cooked breakfast. My main shout out goes to the reception staff. WOW. How lucky is Bowood to have such fantastic staff? Personal shout out to Mitch and Jenny who were on in the evening. We got back from an evening out and fancied a baileys hot chocolate in front of the fire in the reception room in front of their desk but there was no table there, so we went into the library where all other firefront spots were taken. Before we knew it they had come to tell us they'd moved some cosy chairs for us to the fireside and a table so we could sit there for our night cap. What a lovely gesture and a true example of fantastic customer service. Thank you Bowood! Also love the cookies and fresh milk in the rooms - a lovely touch.

Stayed here for a night in a suite. The hotel more than exceeded our expectations. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was lovely and spacious, the bed was comfortable and we had all the facilities we needed - fresh milk in the fridge for the tea/coffee was a nice touch!! Hotel restaurant served a delicious roast lunch and we sat in the bar in the evening which was nice and busy for a Sunday night! Parking onsite, not right outside, but very, very short walk to the hotel entrance. Decor was gorgeous, everything seems to have been done with great attention to detail. Worth the money, will definitely be staying here again!
