We booked this hotel for a long weekend as a family of four. The hotel is clean and basic. The rooms are comfortable for a short stay but with the sofa bed out the space is limited. Great bathroom and had a mini bar. The air con was off or broken which was not ideal but the manager Borja was very helpful and apologetic coming to an agreement to make up for the discomfort. The breakfast was good with a fair range of food as was the lunch and dinner. Not great quality but fine compared to paying to eat out. The pool was really nice and the kids loved the entertainment in the day. The guys running the activities were excellent and really fun. Good amount of loungers and again the toilets and communal areas were clean. There was a good range of AI drinks but the bar was a little busy at peak times as you would expect. The local beach is super close as is the main town that has loads of bars and restaurants. Overall great for a short stay.

Came here from Scotland With family and soo Barbados lives up to expectations absolutely immaculate hotel in and out , staff are at your beck and call to whatever you need without a problem sighed , food has plenty of options that suits near everyone I didn’t have a bother to be fair I was always looking forward to dinner maybe due to I don’t need to do cleaner and dishes afterwards lol , we had a slight problem with our room which was rectified in the right manner and put correctly professionally and effectively borja masvidal the guest manager you deserve a pay rise from Melia for putting up with us and my wife , we thank you again for your hospitality and generosity we are great duo and also a shout out to the assistant guest manager I think her name was lelah I could be wrong but again we thank you , swimming pool gets closed at 5 which was a bummer , only thing I do fault is the rope that secure the perimeter of the pool is a l bit of a poor show for health and safety as kids were running everywhere at night time could easily fall in maybe put a white plastic retractible fence am not sure but again we will be back to the hotel on our next holiday , it was a pleasure , thank you team sol Barbados

Hotel refused to turn air conditioning on. Said it was not hot enough. The rooms are roasting 25+degrees. Is this to save the hotel money? Would love for the hotel management to reply as to why they don’t switch it on? As it is advertised as having air conditioning. No care for customers comfort or sleep

My partner and I decided to book a baby moon joint birthday all inclusive holiday for 7 nights to this hotel. A holiday where we wanted to just relax and enjoy the last holiday we have as a 2. We checked in with no issues, and early which was a bonus. Upon arriving to our allocated room I found that my partner had paid for the room to be decorated with rose petals fresh from the florist, balloons, a chocolate cake and a hand written note. This was lovely to walk into and a great surprise, my partner was able to sort this through the manager Borga who was ever so helpful. We found there to be a couple minor issues with the room, one being the door handle to balcony being broken and the other was the shower was broken, both were swiftly fixed the same day after reporting. However, I would like to add that the hotel charged my partner €30 for the cake alone in our room, which was delicious and one of the best cakes we’ve ever tasted, but for us to find out it was included in the all inclusive buffet daily was a bit annoying. Unsure if this is just my opinion but I don’t know how the hotel can justify the €30 charge for the cake alone when we have already paid for all inclusive! By all means charge for the cost to decorate with balloons rose petals etc but the charge for the cake seemed unfair, especially at €30! The beds were the worst I’ve ever slept on, was like sleeping on concrete, we attempted to sleep on the sofa bed to see if any better but that was even worse! The shower never stayed the same temperature, it goes from the perfect temperature to scolding hot or ice cold within seconds and without even touching anything! The air con was also not working, which is a BIG reason we had such a poor stay, upon asking the receptionist why, he advised the hotel just haven’t turned it on yet! The hotel advertised air con so the air con should be on! Who wants to be in a room without aircon in 25°c+ heat!! We tried to manage without it but we couldn’t bare it therefore returned to reception and were given the option to rent a fan at the price of €16 and €10 deposit! The fan was broken and useless as just circulated the hot air. I will add that breakfast was lovely, but very busy, the queues each morning for pancakes and omelettes were crazy, and it completely made the buffet area inaccessible due to the queues, it was very unorganised and people seemed to always push themselves in front, was every man for themselves! The adult pool area was nice, constant activities going on and very comfortable sunbeds (until they changed them on the last day), the music was always good and sun was on the pool area all day! The pools however were the coldest I’ve ever been in, every person we saw go in squealed as they went in, and lots of kids cried as they entered. The lunch and tea was nice, nice dishes with chicken, beef, turkey or pork always an option. Just a bit repetitive so we ended up having food elsewhere towards the end of the holiday. Just got back last night , we had an amazing time.. The rooms were soo clean and comfortable love how it's so close to the beach and the bars and restaurant. If you want to venture in if you don't want to you don't have to its that far away no noise. The food is varied and there's so much choice, salad bars, meat, desserts, drinks water always avaible I'm a really fussy eater and always found something. The vibe was amazing around the hotel and in. The adult entertainment let it down there wasn't much going on for adults and we didn't know if there was any. No shows for adults It did feel quite a child oriented hotel but.... that said we did have fun going down the water slides everyday. Drinks there was a range but didn't feel there was enough cocktails on the menu and some of them tasted funny. Bar staff were amazing and always there to help We will defro be back just cos its so close to stuff and loved it just wish there was more stuff for adults to do and some focus was on them Every asked to play ping pong but that was money to deposit for bats so didn't bother which is a shame But over all we had a great time Also the hotel was so clean and no flies which i often find with going away and the staff cleaning up was amazing always prompt and quick to tidy away Thanks

This is a fair review based on my and my husband’s own personal experiences. We stayed at Sol Barbados for one week from the 8th May until the 15th of May 2024 with our 5-month-old son. Hopefully you may find this useful before considering staying at Sol Barbados. I will start with the positives. Location 4/5: This hotel is situated in the party town of Magaluf so therefore, noise is to be expected from the lively pubs and bars. The hotel is situated a decent distance away from the noise of the nightlife but also within easy walking distance should you want to visit the night time bars and clubs. Unfortunately, it is very noisy from the hotel but if you shut your balcony door, it cuts most noise out. We couldn’t unfortunately shut our door due to the room being too hot (more about this under accommodation). The hotel is next to the beach but access from the hotel is not easy to navigate and we wouldn’t recommend trying with a pushchair. If you’re happy to walk 10 minutes, the main beach of Magaluf is lovely. Although we only briefly visited. Pools 4/5: A good variety of pools for both adults and children. Pool temperature was very cold in May which was to be expected so our little one didn’t swim. The pools were not deep enough to dive into and inflatables were only allowed in a select few children’s pools. No issues with getting sun loungers although no beach towels provided so pack your own! Moving on to the negatives. Bar & Entertainment 2/5: The entertainment is non-existent for adults. We saw one adult act whilst we were there. No itinerary for entertainment and even the entertainment staff didn’t know what was on when asked. The all-inclusive drinks package was portrayed as ‘unlimited’. The Malibu was poured from a Malibu bottle and the Baileys was poured from a Bailey’s bottle. However, the Baileys was clearly a watered down Irish Cream and goodness knows what the Malibu was. It tasted more of vodka than coconut which was truly bizarre and undrinkable. The only decent drink from the bar was the coffee. Food 2/5: If you like chips, hard pizza, tasteless pasta and raw grilled meat, this is the place for you! Now, let me be clear, we are not fussy eaters and have been to many all-inclusive destinations before and always found something decent to eat. We are also the kind of people to disregard negative ‘food’ reviews for places, as we know people can be fussy. However, at Sol Barbados it really was very poor food. There is variety within the stations (salad/cold meats, cooked stews & veg, grilled meat, pasta & pizza and a designated children’s station). However, you get the same food EVERY day (some of which we were convinced was warmed up from the day before). We were served raw meat on 3 separate occasions. I don’t mean ‘underdone’, I mean inedible. We reported it and showed a member of staff who said they would feed back about it. Not sure if this happened or not. I Will start with the few good points, reception staff were good, the room was clean with a nice view, the food was very nice but not always very warm but I did use the microwave, the pool side entertainment staff worked hard with games and fitness classes, my first complaint was the air conditioning in the room was not calibrated to the lowest setting so the room was incredible hot all the time, the restaurant is absolute chaos with screaming children running freely around, this is of course the parents responsibility but the dinning experience was a nigh**are, one thing the hotel must sort out is as you enter the restaurant there is a raised platform with a modern sculpture art work on it, children were climbing all over it even standing up on the top of it!! A urgent risk assessment needs to be carried out before a child falls and is seriously hurt!! I certainly will never stay in another Meliá hotel, if you don't mind 28c bedrooms and absolute chaos with unruly children running riot then this hotel is for you!

We enjoyed our staying,mostly because of amazing,friendly animation team which created many games for kids and familys. My 6 years old daughter wants to come back here again and I am sure we will comeback next year. Big thanks to Juan Carlos, Angel,Alex,David and rest of animation team, You are the stars of this hotel.
