I have stayed in this hotel before and it’s my go to place when I just want a quiet couple of days away. The rooms are old fashioned and lovely, the restaurant is very good and there’s a nice bar. The area offers lovely countryside and places to explore and the hotel pool is very nice if you just want relax and read a book.

What an elegant hotel! The a**osphere takes you back in time as an aristocrat lounging by the fireplace after a nice meal and before retiring into a comfortable room. The staff is friendly with kudos to the bartender/waiter Antonio who couldn’t hold back his smirks while our small tour group had so much fun. The hotel is in the countryside, so no walking tours or local restaurants to visit: you don’t need nor want to venture away. Relax in style!

We booked for 5 nights. Were told it was a double bedded room. It had a 3/4 bed with broken springs with chipboard nailed in place to replace the correct springing. There was only one chair for both of us to sit on. The bed was too high to sit on as your feet wouldn't touch the floor. I had just had a hip replacement and so my wife had to half sit and half lie on an extremely uncomfortable materess. The water was never hot enough to bath or shower. The toilet seat was broken. The food was dreadful. We ordered steak one night with vegetables. It arrived almost raw (I asked for mine well done). All that was on the plate was a steak and potato chips (crisps) no vegetables at all. Another night I ordered shrimps with salad and pasta. It only had 4 half shrimps, no salad and a plate of cold pasta. We left a day early as we needed to shower and clean up and couldn't sleep as the bed was so uncomfortable (room 104) The manager was extremely rood when we asked to get something done about it. I wouldn't give this hotel any more than a 2 star rating and advise everyone not to book to stay there. It completely ruined our stay in Portugal!!

The hotel and grounds are beautiful and elegant, and set right in the heart of the Dao region convenient for tours and sightseeing. The staff was very friendly and helpful and helped us make reservations for tours at local wineries and other attractions.
The only negatives were 1) that the food at the restaurant was just ok, but that might have been because of covid issues; and 2) the bed was very uncomfortable.

Top em todas as vertentes: Quartos espaçosos e muito confortáveis, serviço impecável em simpatia e profissionalismo, pequeno almoço impecável e salas de estar muito agradáveis. Experiência a repetir numa próxima oportunidade. Recomendo.
