Dimora Marella Patrica - Frosinone

we booked a night at this hotel as a pit stop on our road trip. Unfortunately the ferry from Sardinia to Civitavecchia notified us of a delay which meant that this stop was no longer our best option. By then my cancellation window was closed so the hotel could have charged me the full cost of the night but when I reached out to them they were very reasonable and agreed to let me cancel for free.

“Under the Tuscan Sun” (that’s Hollywood) ! One could say, “under the …’Italian sun’” is an overused and abused phrase to describe that idyllic summer in Italy where a foreigner visiting Italy (usually an American escaping some crisis in life whether it is a divorce, a break-up or some heart wrenching work drama) — claims to have experienced this heightened sense of self by losing one’s self into the beauty, simplicity, warmth and love that Italy and its peoples have to offer. Albeit it is also that summer where a family simply enjoys each other or lovers reinforce their “happy ever after”. And that is of course what Italy has to offer, the simplicity of life — the history and archaeological remnants of the past to remind us “modern people” that - HEY - stop feeling entitled, the history of Homo sapiens taught us to realise on how man, writ large, have evolved. I am not writing a history treatise, just a simple review, excuse my introduction as I tell you about this very beautiful place. A hidden gem in Lazio ( the region where Rome is a part of, by the way). Dimora Marella is the best kept secret of Frosinone. It is categorised as a “Guest House” or a “Bed and Breakfast”. It is that and then some. What it is not: .. it is not your usual commercial hotel, .. it is not near a city centre or Centro Storico. What it is: the most amazing Escape to the Countryside venue. Impeccably clean and well kept - the rooms especially - the amazing staff was the best ever. Dimora Marella is a historical mansion that had prior noble owners, perhaps it was their country home. When you walk through the salotto or sala you will see certain remnants of time gone by. Remnants such as a charcoal wrought iron and an elaborate rocco barocco styled clock, of which are obsolete in these days of digital life, but brings back the feels of the days gone by. The grounds are soothing. A tree where one can lounge to seek shade from the heat of the summer Italian scorching sun, the large pool where a few families chill out and the children race with their dad to win in a bout of freestyle and butterfly swimming. The silence and the wind blowing, the songs of the birds, the smell of wood burning from neighbours — all brought me back home - summers in Cebu and summers in Italy. The owners were tirelessly ensuring that their guests had the best chill and relax time of their life. They also offer for guests an option to dine-in. The dinner is not only amazing, but fantastic. One would expect a home cooked meal, but they gave us all the home cooked meal presented in gourmet look and feel. That was a nice touch. There was so much to tell about this amazing place, I would invite you to experience it on your own.

Luogo incantevole, una vera sorpresa, tutto eccellente in un atmosfera bucolica che permette il relax totale. Accolti con estrema gentilezza es encomiabile ospitalità. Scegliamo di fermarci a cena e siamo stati deliziati con una cena gustosa tipica delle terre ciociare. Sicuramente torneremo per ricaricare le pile. Posizione incantevole, regna la pace e la tranquillità. Le camere però sono davvero vetuste e il prezzo decisamente troppo alto se paragonato all'offerta. Colazione accettabile, cena abbastanza buona ma prezzi ancora una volta sopra la media del posto così come la richiests di 20€ a notte per il cagnolino.

Luogo incantevole immerso nel verde, dove si trova tranquillità, pace e tanto riposo. Ulteriore punto a favore è la cucina della signora Egi: piatti da ristorante stellato (vi consiglio l’Amatriciana, ancora oggi la sogno). Le camere sono dotate di ogni comfort, la struttura incantevole e il personale cordialissimo. Il paradiso. Grazie mille tornerò assolutamente a trovarvi!

Colpevoli di essere arrivati un paio d’ore prima dell’orario di check-in (con tanto di ampio preavviso), siamo stati accolti in modo a dir poco sgradevole e inospitale. Avevamo scelto questa struttura che ci consentisse, dopo 6 ore di auto, di rinfrescarci in piscina e cenare in modo da non dover più guidare. Invece, siccome la Signora si era svegliata alle 5 e quindi non era in struttura, abbiamo avuto il divieto di balneazione. Dopo una conversazione molto spiacevole al telefono, siamo giunti ad un accordo che ci saremmo bagnati un attimo in piscina per poi aspettare che arrivasse qualcuno a sorvegliare. Così abbiamo fatto, ma dopo circa mezz’ora, si è presentata la signora con le mani sui fianchi e al mio “buongiorno” ha risposto “questo non è un buongiorno l! Io sono in piedi dalle 5….anzi stasera non vi faccio cena!”. Se, oltre all’accoglienza imbarazzante, aggiungiamo che la colazione era scadente (zero salato e qualche biscotto da supermercato), il nostro giudizio non può che essere negativo. 2 pallini di incoraggiamento….

La struttura è curata nei minimi dettagli e il giardino innaffiato tutti i giorni. Le camere sono gradi e arredate con gusto, rispettando lo stile retrò e gli spazi della dimora storica.Le canzoni di un tempo scandiscono l'atmosfera e il relax. A disposizione degli ospiti la piscina con ingresso a 10 euro, gestita da esterni. Il posto è adatto anche a eventi e cerimonie: ci sono ampie aree con lettini, sedie e tavolini. Si mangia bene con piatti tradizionali del posto. Prezzi adeguati.

Un posto bellissimo ed elegante, dimora del conte Morella. La signora Egi é una donna raffinata e gentile, ma soprattutto prepara la migliore amatriciana del Mondo. .. noi sicuramente ci torneremo e vi suggeriamo di venirci anche voi 😊Edoardo ed Eleonora . Suite Cielo.
