Villa d'Este

Villa d'Este is the most wonderful hotel! The property is beautiful, the food is fabulous and the service is exceptional. Everything was perfect and thank you for the upgrade!

What a letdown. I first stayed at Villa d'Este in 1999 and had an amazing trip. The second time I went, the staff were rude and inattentive, the rooms and bathrooms were tired and worn out. The night before our checkout, I asked what time I needed to be out. They said "Not to worry. Noon was fine." We went to breakfast, came back to the room at 10:30AM and our room had been packed and cleared out. I went to the front desk to complain. They said I could go back to my room. I did and they brought back my luggage. I went to get a few things and some electronics and the Hermés scarves we bought in Milan were gone. I sent emails up the food chain all the way to the CEO who said "Our staff would never steal. We hope you'll give us another chance." F Off. We'll stay at the Mandarin Oriental next time.

My first visit to Villa D ‘ Este was 20 years ago. It was nice to verify that things are as good as they always were. This former grand mansion, converted in hotel in the XIX century, has the merit of having preserved the atmosphere and architectural details of a XIX century building, adding to it all the modern conveniences necessary for a 5 star hotel : extra silent AC, superb WIFI, electrical outlets in quantity, wonderful marble bathrooms, LED TV, great Spa and Gym, 2 pools, etc etc. The garden is a post card. The 2 restaurants are as perfect as they can be. Breakfast is buffet style as in any 5 star hotel. Service is great all along day and areas. Concierge and restaurants employ very well trained staff. They have avoided the frecquent temptation of many grand hotels to “modernize” decoration and furnishing. Maybe this and the staff training is what sets this palace hotel apart from many others. We had an Executive Junior Suite with lateral lake view, consisting of generous space with a sofa and 3 reading chairs, a writing desk, king bed with linen bed sheets, great pillows, ample walk in closet and marble bathrooms with shower and tub plus a small balcony with chairs and table.

It’s been a dream of mine to see Lake Como in late spring and stay specifically at Villa D’Este. The Villa exceeded my lofty expectations. The grounds are simply breathtaking. The service, incredible. The food was spectacular. The housekeeping turnaround time was so fast and they checked our rooms multiple times per day. No detail left unseen. Some people may find the rooms outdated, but I think it blends very well into the history of this magnificent palace. Honestly, I think if you don’t stay here (or at least a comparable property), you’re missing a big part of the Lake Como experience. It’d be like going to see the Lake without doing a boat tour. I loved my stay there. I love Villa D’Este and look forward to returning again with my children next time.

The location , the view, the villa one of the best places I have visited in Lake Como and especially the management team at the reception especially the manager at the office desk. The breakfast is one of the amazing places I had breakfast on it

A beautiful property with very attentive staff. From arrival to check-out, the staffs were welcoming and made sure we were taken care of at every step. The rooms are well kept and maintained. The breakfast was amazing with great selection and beautiful view of Lake Como.

I have been visiting Villa D' Este since 2018 but never got a chance to write a review until now. Better late than never! The best of the best place to be in Lake Como. I recently celebrated my milestone birthday there with my husband and 10 if my close friends. It was a dreamy birthday due to the staff's outstanding service and accommodations. My annual summer destination. Veranda's food and drinks are yummy and the view is gorgeous! ❤️❤️

Probably the most elegant and welcoming hotel anywhere. Immaculate and utterly beautiful yet low key super service. Any time of the year. A true bucket list destination. The position is extraordinary right in the water with swimming pools both heated and with lake water. Magical!!!

Villa de este VERY DISAPPOINTED!!! This hotel was on our bucket list for a long time. We were looking forward to our stay but was very disappointed! The air conditioning was turned off the whole time. They brought me a fan to the room. Really?The first day during breakfast right outside the Veranda Restaurant they had workers pulling all the flowers right in Front of us. Then in the afternoon on my way to lobby outsider, I fell really really bad on the uneven floor. I had a large bump below my knee. I had to cancel my dinner reservations to put ice and rest for the remaining of the evening. I had the bellman help me with a bag of ice but never a manager came to ask if I was ok. We ordered room service. I thought out of courtesy they will at least give me a complementary room service consisting of a salad and club sandwich. Nothing!!!! The car service they provide is very expensive compare to Ubers or taxi. The boat ride was 300 $ for 1 hour and it was very very slow. Saturday morning at 9 am they had blocked the main doors to the lobby with a ladder as they were painting the doors ?????? Really.
