The River House is a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom chalet that sleeps 8, tucked away in the Ausable Acres in Jay, NY, right on the West Branch Ausable River. This cozy home is on a private, secluded lot, yet close to many of the Adirondack area attractions making it an ideal location to make your home base during your winter getaway in the Adirondacks.The Ausable Acres community is located in Jay, NY and is not far from several popular local destinations. Whiteface Mountain, the “greatest vertical drop east of the Rockies” is a short drive away. Lake Placid isn’t much farther and has great shopping and dining in addition to all of the Olympic history from hosting twice, including in 1980 for the Miracle on Ice victory. The property is also centrally located between Santa’s Workshop, the Covered Bridge in Jay, High Falls Gorge, Ausable Chasm & Mt. Von Hoevenberg.The main floor consists of a well-stocked kitchen (pots, pans, silverware, cooking utensils, drinking glasses, plates, mugs, wine glasses, bakeware, etc.) with a dishwasher and a brand new fridge, an open living room with a 70-inch 4K TV (please note the wood stove isn't functioning), a sunroom with a small dinette as well as some rocking chairs and a small sofa, a king bedroom with a TV and a full bathroom. The 2nd floor was completely remodeled this year with brand new flooring in both bedrooms (queen bed with a TV in the first and a queen over queen bunk in the second) along with a fully remodeled bathroom with a massive walk-in shower and jack & jill sinks. Please note, the wood burning stove cannot be operated as multiple chimney sweeps indicated it would be a fire hazard to use until considerable repairs are made. The Acres has a lake, miles of trails for hiking or cross-country skiing and a picnic pavilion area. For fisherpersons, there is access to the Ausable river less than two miles away. Within three miles is a Top’s Supermarket, Stewart’s Gas and Convenience store, movie theatre, pizzeria and liquor store.The interior of the cabin is constructed with tongue and groove knotty pine throughout. The bedroom has a new queen size log bed. The bathroom is newly remodeled. There is a sitting area with a wood stove, kitchen, dining area, a desk with ample room for writing in your journal or laptop and an area with comfy chairs for just relaxing. The home has a three-zone electric heating system, so a wood fire is optional. There are two USB charging stations and high-speed internet. The kitchen has an electric cooktop, oven, microwave, refrigerator, toaster, coffee maker, electric tea kettle, dishes and lots of cookware that allow our guests to prepare a home cooked meal or breakfast.
