Russ Hill Hotel

After reading the reviews, I was dreading our preflight stay. I was, however, pleasantly surprised! The Entrance Hall was decorated with Christmas Decs and a lovely tree by the fireplace. Staff were very helpful and even arranged for the chef to come in early for breakfast as our flight had changed. The room was clean, and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was immaculate and a good powerful shower over the bath. The rooms all have internal glazing to minimize the noise from the aircraft. We all had an evening meal in the bar, which was perfectly adequate and well priced. Breakfast was ok, freshly cooked and hot. Coffee tea and juices on tap, as well as continental options. When I need a cheap overnight stay and carparking for my holiday, I will definitely use The Russ Hill hotel again.

Absolutely awful 😞 will never stay here again , the beds were like bricks , the pillows were just the worse ever, no sleep at all ended up with bad headache , both me and my friend did not sleep as all , My friend had a jacket potato which in fairness was quite nice and fairly priced , your data gets cut off here also so your forced to pay £7 for WiFi , We only booked it because it was close to airport , my friend realised she had stayed here before just forgot the name of it when her car had been Brocken into , the hotel did absolutely nothing about it , I would not recommend this to anyone stay clear

On first inspection, the room was ok, if a little on the small side. The bathroom door did not close, the bed was terrible and the pillows need chucking away. Consequently not much sleep had. The cost of taxis to/from the airport made this not the best value. Would not have cost much more to stay in a far better hotel nearer to the airport.

We had a good room, clean and tidy. Left our car here for 10 nights. The price was amazing. The staff were friendly and helpful. We ate in the restaurant in the evening, food was so so but we just wanted a decent hotel before our flight and that's what we got

I had the most horrendous experience while staying at this hotel. I was seriously verbally abused by a very drunk fellow guest. Their behaviour was witnessed by many in the hotel that evening and the language was appalling in front of many families with young children. They were continually served alcoholic drinks when they were clearly inebriated or under some other influence. Other guests tried to help me as the hotel staff,( all three of them) failed to assist with the onslaught at the start, meaning the situation escalated out of control very quickly. I demanded the police be called, which they were and they evicted the culprits from the hotel later that night. However, as pensioners my friend and I ended up under self induced ‘ house arrest’, as we were fearful of the fellow guests actions. My point is that the two males were booked into the hotel, however a female was not. They had been disruptive the day before apparently (told by a member of staff) and they had moved other guests away from their room because of the disruption. Whilst the staff were very sweet, they are clearly untrained in how to deal with such situations and their responsibility to safeguard other guests in the hotel. I would expect better of this hotel chain. I will not be staying with them ever again and have not been reimbursed. I would like to thank the one lady guest who tried to intervene. It was much appreciated. The hotel and parking facilities were in fact fine in line with low budget hotels.

We are still recovering from our awful stay at Russ Hill Hotel so felt it necessary to raise these issues with you so that you could fix them for future guests. We booked to stay at russ hill hotel because we had an early flight from Gatwick which meant we would need to be up at 4am, so it made sense to stay closer to Gatwick to avoid getting up even earlier to drive 2.5 hours. Honestly, I wish we would have stayed home, woke up earlier and driven to Gatwick as we got no sleep at all at this hotel! Firstly the air freshener in the lobby is so overpowering that it caused me to violently cough for the whole time I was in there. The first room we were given (129) was awful, we had to pass about 25 children hanging out in the hallway and running around at 10:30pm!! (Turns out they were using the hotel to house refugees which we were not notified of before our stay). The room felt unclean with an awful sewer smell and the windows were broken open. The outside window was open 0.5m and would not shut at all, then the inside one didn’t have a lock - very dangerous as there is a roof ledge where people could climb onto and easily get into our room from the outside!! The receptionist agreed to move us to a different room away from the children down the hall from the bar, whilst this room seemed nicer, it still wasn’t clean with dirty fingerprints on all the plug sockets. We ended up sleeping with a suitcase behind the door because we had people knocking on our door, trying to get in and screaming, shouting, singing and slamming doors outside our room. This went on past 1am. I was too scared to sleep as was constantly worried someone was going to come into my room. There was no wifi that reached our hotel room and we had no phone signal and there was no phone in the room so we couldn't even call security or reception! This experience left us exhausted the first 2 days of our holiday. I don't like to leave bad reviews but this place 100% deserved it and should not be in operation due to the awful conditions.
