Grand Hotel Excelsior

늦게 도착했지만 체크인 빨랐습니다. 가까운 저녁먹을 곳을 알려준 유쾌한 호텔리어도 기억에 남습니다. 넓은 객실과 욕실도 좋았습니다.

Convenient hotel. Obviously has seen greater days and greater crowds, but was very convenient for one night. Thanks

We loved this hotel. It was large and spacious, unlike lots of European hotels. It was classy and reflected the grandness of the 1920's which made it fun, Will definitely stay here again if we return to the area.

We visited Montepulciano for the wine and then looked for somewhere to stay. This place seemed to fit the bill, about 15 minutes away with lots of 4* hotels at low prices. How lucky we were. The town is the strangest place. This town has has about 50 hotels but only 10 open, the rest boarded-up, unloved or simply abandoned with ****s growing out of roofs, carparks etc. It's an industrial archaeolgists paradise and gives a foretaste of how nature reclaims civilisation. It turns out that, about 20 years ago, 2000 visitors per day flocked to the Thermal Spas for 'wellness' and health trips. Those hoards of trippers have dropped to a dribble. It is the place that time forgot. Taking pot luck, we chose the Excelsior, which looked like the most imposing hotel on the Main Drag. The hotel is faded glory. Simple rooms with high ceilings. Nice views from large windows. The bed was very firm. The bathroom was clean. Describing the rooftop pool and sun-terrace as 'fabulous' would be going way too far. A simple buffet breakfast was included. The hotel is 2-3 stars. It was plain & comfortable - and the management deserve a Gold Star for keeping it going as the town dies around them. Being about 25 miles from the Tuscany hot-spot of Sienna helps them I suppose. If it wasn't for a coach party from Devon, we'd have been just about the only people there in the last week of July. No wonder the chambermaid couldn't wait to get into our room from 0800. Grrrr. We stayed on a Friday night, about 200 metres from the open air 'Club Forti'. Eventually the music stopped at 2am. Which spoiled it a bit. Ideal for an overnight stop - ten minutes off the main A1 Autostrada. And you can tell your friends that you've seen what Harrogate could be like in 20 years if Bettys Tea Shop closes.

An absolutely beautiful hotel. We were a very large family for our sons wedding. Accommodations were wonderful staff was excellent and we booked ahead for group dinners each night and they were excellent. Great service by car and bus to the wedding location. This hotel I believe is family run and they were terrific to us. We highly recommend. The location is great to see the Val d'Orcia and the Thermal Baths of Chianciano, wine tasting and much more.

The front hotel staff was excellent! The hotel was nice and a great place to stay!

The place is nice, old, but this makes it special. We stayed there in December, so in the room/restaurant was a bit cold. The staff was friendly. The oly thing I didn`t like was the restaurant: cold, no menu, they just said what they have...was nothing vegetarian, so they made me pasta with some tomatoes, was not delicious. But maybe my expectations are high for a 4 star hotel....

Hotel molto grande, un po datato ma pulito. Cibo veramente scadente e freddo. Non particolarmente attenti a chi ha intollerante. Abbiamo dovuto comunicarlo più volte con scarso risultato. Anzi quasi scocciati

…sono stata in questo “Grand Hotel Excelsior” a Chianciano Terme!!…location strategica!!…proprio sulla piazza principale!!…con un gruppo di un viaggio organizzato da un agenzia della mia città!!…con trattamento di mezza pensione!!…per cui colazione…cena e pernottamento!!…la struttura è un po’ datata!!…ma ambienti comunque raffinati e molto eleganti!!…e tutto ben pulito e ordinato!!…la camera era in una posizione tranquilla!!…unica pecca la moquette!!l…che di igienico non ha proprio nulla!!…e ormai non si trova quasi più!!…colazione con assortimento di dolce e di salato!!…e con personale disponibile e gentile!!…ma io mi sono trovata bene!!…e posso sinceramente dire che questo “Grand Hotel Excelsior”!!…può essere una buona scelta se si decide di soggiornare a Chianciano Terme!!…
