Hotel Rive Sud

What a great find, as we walked in we knew it would be a great place to stay. A beautiful old building tastefully decorated by the owners. It is possible to book an evening meal. The garden was very nice and lit up at night. Would certainly visit again sooner rather than later.

Beautifully cared for and clean hotel. Charming young couple as host and hostess, made us very welcome. Excellent recommendation for a restaurant. Very interesting town, the Castle was well worth a visit. We were so glad that the commune had installed a lift otherwise it would have been more of a climb that our old legs could cope with!

A beautiful hotel, well located in Chinon, slightly out the centre (a 5 minute walk) which means that parking is easy to find. Beautiful decor, comfortable beds and exceptionally polite and helpful hosts. I would definitely return if I were to go back to Chinon.

We loved our stay, located a lovely 5 minute walk across the picturesque bridge from Chinon and it’s castle, this family owned and operated B&B was just what our family (2 adults, 2 children) needed. Clean room, excellent breakfast and very helpful hosts. Parking is quite easy even if it seems unlikely at first.

This is a delightful place to stay if you want to explore the area or, as we did, take a break en route from Provence to the ferry port. Comfortable rooms, relaxing garden area, delicious breakfast, modern decor with no loss of charm to the buildings and friendly, helpful (and English speaking) hosts. We felt so lucky to have found this jewel of a place to stay in Chinon and will definitely book again if we travel to the Loire.

There are not enough superlatives for how good this hotel is and its owners are, so much so we actually didn't want to leave. Wonderful throughout our stay, it actually kept getting better. We arrived totally unplanned, nearly missed it in favour of an Ibis we couldn't find, and boy were we happy we dropped in. Only one room left, the minute we entered we felt at home, a lovely cheery reception, but after some dubious stays in previous days, we asked to see room first! Wow. Everything out of top drawer, decor, furnishing and finishing oozed quality, so we hurried back down to confirm.The lady receptionist was giving another guest an exceptionally detailed direction for restaurants and routes with the town map, such attention to detain impressed us.Limited parking but parked on street a few steps from door ( the old parking has been turned into a wow garden - as gardeners we very much approved). The decor is wonderful, everywhere, tasteful everywhere, including the drapes, curtains, throws, wall paper, lights, it's all been thought about and sourced with a view to the effect on the planet. Shower was wonderful, well designed and powerful, on such a hot evening. Again we didn't eat at night, but went to town for that and ate at a resto earlier described by our hostess. French hotels don't always provide a kettle and tea facilities, but Rive Sud does. More wonderful as our daily first is a cuppa. More eco sourced tea, coffee, sugar - brilliant, another shower then down to breakfast. Breakfast was sumptuous. A great selection of everything, beautifully displayed, fresh, and locally sourced bio etc. Our hosts were getting kids to school but never once a lack of attention to their guests, very much like we were part of family, we sat in conservatory enjoying a relaxing start garden side. Once again we cannot stress how good the experience of staying here at Rive Sud was, and will be back as often as possible, if this review doesn't mean they are permanently fully booked. Well done to you both, this is how all hotels should look, be equipped and be run. Fantastic, we loved every minute.

Very friendly Host in a nice small hotel. Conviniently located in walking distance to the center of Chinon. Good infrastructure for bike travelers (sufficient charging sockets) A very nice breakfast with h homemade breakfast with homemade ingredients We liked it a lot

The people, place and persona were excellent. Location and facilities very good. We had dinner and breakfast both of which again were excellent. Would recommend the venue to our friends and family. Just a short walk over the bridge into the old charming part of Chinon.

My husband and I were travelling to Bordeaux and underestimated the time so we frantically tried to find somewhere to spend the night. We were beyond fortunate to find this gem of a hotel. The most charming hosts and everything from there was equally perfect. The location is superb. We will never forget that place and hope to go back. It's a priceless experience!
