During our self-drive (tent on roof of Land Cruiser) Epic Africa Overland adventure, we had to traverse the whole of Zambia and cross over into Botswana at Kazungula. On the stern advice of the cognoscenti, we were told to be at Kazungula as early as was possible, and thus avoid lengthy hold-ups. So the original Plan to stop in Monze went out the window and we chose Choma & more specifically Oasis Evergreen instead - a decision driven more by logistics than anything else. Just off the T.1 (left coming from the North), across the railway lines and down the D.776 a few Blocks. Through their Guarded Gates and into their high walled Property looked promising, and then we rounded the Building to find we were in a Building Site where the demolition team had only just begun. Our Hostess, clearly aware of our angst & concerns, went out of her way to be a reassuring & the Most Hospitable host promising us that we could use the BBQs, Sinks, Utensils, and main Bathrooms and WC etc. It was now late, we were very tired so 'make the most of it' and we stay put. It seems Security did not get the Message, since everything had been locked-up tight by the time we finished our Dinner & wanted to use the facilities and retire. It was quiet (we were the ONLY Guests & not another living sole on site), we were on level ground, & a peaceful nights sleep ensued, till 05.00 when we rose to get on the Road again. We were ready way before Security so had to wait for them to Open-up. In Summary, we think our experience was unfortunate timing (they should not have taken our Booking then) & hope that once the Building work is finished they will have a decent Option for travellers. The Lady's warmth and charm deserves it. She alone stopped me from a worse rating. This was how it was then. Earnestly hope it changes dramatically.
