Residence Villa Rosa dei Venti

We thought the hotel was clean and had very spacious rooms. The bed was a little lower to the ground than we liked and not the best mattress, but it wasn’t that bad. The hotel is adjacent to one of the runways of the Palermo airport, and the sound of jets and barking dogs is very loud, but virtually no planes flew when trying to sleep. Our only concern, and it is a big one, was the availability of the airport shuttle. The hotel is marketed to people to stay there prior to taking an early international flight with easy shuttle service. The website says that it’s “a few steps from the "Falcone e Borsellino" airport of Palermo Punta Raisi, with free shuttle service 24/7” and elsewhere “One of our drivers will come to pick you up and take you back airport whenever you want.” Sounded just what we needed. We arranged in advance with the hotel on the day of our arrival to drop off our luggage in the morning so we could return our rental car by 11 AM then return to the hotel and leave early the next day. All we needed was a shuttle ride back to the hotel after we dropped off the car to wait until we could check in. When we dropped our luggage off, they told us for the first time that they were closed between 11:30 and 3:30 and that the shuttle would not be available to bring us back. I asked if we could perhaps take a cab back to sit by the pool until our room was ready, but they said that the hotel would be closed until 3:30, and we should call for the shuttle then. So we waited at the airport from 11:30 to 3:30 and then called several times for the shuttle. It eventually came an hour later, even though when they finally answered the phone at 3:45, they promised it would be there in 10 minutes. We asked for a morning airport drop off at 6:30 and were told either 6 or 7. At checkout, the driver had no problem taking us on the quarter hour and quickly. So, if you’re staying here prior to an early morning flight, remember about their siesta and the limited availability of the shuttle service despite what they advertise.

We walked away a little confused about this property. It’s actually a house with en suite bathrooms. The lady who checked us in was very kind and helpful. The driver who picked us up from the airport after we dropped off our rental car was nice and professional. The young man who drove us to the airport at 3:30 am was friendly. But truly this is just a place to stay either immediately before or after a late airport arrival or an early departure. We felt a bit uncomfortable. There is nothing near the property like restaurants or stores. This place would not be a destination stay on a vacation.

Weird hotel whose only saving grace is the airport shuttle. Uncomfortable bed, springs in the chairs completely shot, noisy room beneath the lobby (endless footsteps), and room temperature cannot be adjusted. Nothing nearby, so only dinner option is the hotel (worst food I ate in Sicily).

You can't get much closer to the Palermo airport so Villa Rosa die Venti is very convenient for an early morning flight. That said, it is pretty much in the middle of nowhere if you don't have a car (we had dropped ours off in the evening). There is a large pool and outdoor space with picnic tables. Rooms are quite strange - reminded me of the Jetsons - weirdly modern, like a space station but quirky. Our room had a hot tub in the room which had bubble bath added (making it unusable for skin sensitivities) and it didn't heat up well. The shower is a glass rectangle also in the room and leaked all over the floor making it dangerously slippery. There is a small seating area off the room near the pool. Pool lights stay on all night making it hard to darken the room. The staff very kindly will provide a large portion of lasagna and wine for dinner if you are stuck there without a car. It is also possible to have pizza delivered. We left too early for the full breakfast but enough of a breakfast was provided and individually made coffee drinks. There is a free shuttle to and from the airport. The decor in the reception and dining area feels like a nice youth hostel. Rooms are big enough and the bed was comfortable. Oddly, the staff did not assist with baggage, either loading in or out of the van or to our room. If you are worried about getting to the airport for an early flight, stay here. If not, stay in Palermo and take the very reliable bus to the airport or a taxi. The airport is very small and very little time is needed for check in.

This is a perfect place to stay near the airport. We arrived late in the evening & Angelo picked us up. We did have to ask some young gentleman to place the call for us as we only had wifi calls. That is a bit of a pain. Check in was easy, the hotel is modern & clean. We were given an upgraded room from what we booked, our room opened onto a private patio & the large pool. If you have children, this is great for you. There is a tree house, a pond with turtle & a separate one with fish. Breakfast was varied & very good. Proteins, fruits, sweets & good coffee. We were easily returned to the airport to pick up a rental car. Enjoy your stay, we did.

We arrived early (2:30) knowing we could not check in until 3:30pm. We asked if we could sit in the lobby or outside until that time. We were told no by the owner and that we had to leave. This changed our opinion of this place. Rooms are comfortable but old and tired. The remainder of the staff was very nice. Do not stay here.

Villa Rosa dei Vinci saved us from a nightmare travel day of canceled flights and delays. They picked us up at the airport at 02:00 with easy instructions and a very communicative driver. We had a relaxing stay in a clean, comfortable, spacious room and a great breakfast the next morning. We left feeling very impressed and grateful for their top notch customer service. Very highly recommend!
