One night stay in an older style motel complex but functional. Complex appeared rather full which is always good to see, and we were upgraded to an upstairs room which was spacious. Stairs leading up were very steep and tread depth too small. The bottom of railing could have done with a clean from accumulated bird droppings. Free wifi always a bonus. Is close to the harbour entrance to watch sunrise / sunset and in walking distance to the surf club for a nice breakfast and coffee. Its a 10-15 minute stroll to the centre of Devonport for an evening meal. A list of recommended close by restaurants provided by owner was appreciated. Note older Tripadvisor reviews indicate onsite restaurant - this is now closed, but we were aware of this before booking.

In the motel, you can park at the door of your room. The location of the hotel is easier to find. Locate a small bar, enter and ask to check in. It’s good if you want to drink two glasses. The room was clean and tidy, the curtains were blinds, and the sun came out quite light. The motel is generally soundproofed, and it can be a bit noisy to hear other guests' cars driving close in the middle of the night. Most importantly, the price is cheap.

It should be the first customer to comment on the hotel in Chinese. Overall, the hotel is very good, the location is in the downtown area, we are sitting on the spirit to Devonport, the car rental port can be seen in the hotel for 10 minutes, the hotel has its own The parking lot, the room is large, very beautiful, the special silver tableware and crystal tableware are very beautiful in the large glass display cabinet, the hygiene is very good, the bathroom is very clean, Devonport has no attractions, if you rent a car, you can go to the seaside. The turn is very comfortable.

The check in was easy with nice customer service and they recommended some good places for sightseeing. The bed was very comfortable. Very friendly staff.

Great location. Clean family room with TV, kettle, beverages etc. Appreciated 3 lots of shampoo/conditioner/body wash in the bathroom (also spotlessly clean). Wi-Fi works well. Super friendly staff. Very convenient for the Spirit of Tasmania. This is a dull review but a factual one!

I had a very enjoyable stay at the Formby Hotel in Devonport. The staff were welcoming and friendly and happy to help with things like carrying my luggage up the stairs. The room was light, clean and comfortable. The bed was comfortable and the en suite was bright and lovely with plenty of hot water. The room had a great view of the river and the Spirit of Tasmania. Downstairs there is a nice restaurant and Pokies venue and the hotel is close to shops and not far by car to supermarkets. There was off street parking in the yard behind the hotel next to a bottle shop. I highly recommend the Formby Hotel and look forward to staying there again.

We were welcomed after hours with the offering of a meal and drink to take to room. Very very helpful with local knowledge and places to see. Indulged with beautiful food. Place very clean and really felt like home. I would rate 5/5. Highly recommend to stay and would definitely stay here again. Greg and Kerrie

Beachway is not in any way luxurious, but it is a good country town motel with very reasonable room rates. Ulverstone is not a big town, so pretty much everything is close. The town centre is within easy reach of Beachway. The parking is easy and safe. Reception is efficient. The room are clean and comfortable. The wall heater did not work in my room but, upon reporting this, the helpful receptionist immediately fetched a portable heater, which worked fine. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. A basic continental breakfast is included in the room cost. I stayed two nights, and had dinner in the restaurant once. The menu offers many choices, which made me a bit suspicious that perhaps some things are pre-made and frozen, but my meal was clearly freshly made with fresh ingredient. It was delicious. But the star attraction of this motel is the staff. Mind you, there aren't that many of them! The Receptionist - a young man - appears to work there 24/7! He serves breakfast and dinner, and overseas checks-in-and-out in between. The cook is also busy. Both are friendly and helpful. There are nice gardens and a pool.
