"Very pretty inn, the staff was very nice. All in all, I very much recommend staying here, I was impressed by the quality with such a low price (I paid 27€ for a night, in a room made for three people!). The only thing is that the inn is also a costume and photography shop, open quite late, and it was super noisy until around midnight."

"I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel in Pingyao. The location, right inside the old city walls, was perfect for exploring the ancient town on foot and it was very quiet in the evening, ideal for relaxing after a day of sightseeing. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean and nicely heated, which was especially important given the cold temperatures outside. A special mention goes to the owner and his wife for the excellent pick-up service from the train station, which made my arrival smooth and stress-free."

"Great hotel with helpful, friendly owner. Helped us plan our visit in Pingyao and recommended food (including giving a discount for select restaurants) and attractions. Pingyao ancient town is very walkable so the location is good. Most attractions are around south street and the intersection with west/east street so are a 10-20 minute walk away, but Ma’s Courtyard is very close. Lovely, spacious room with good heating (much needed during our stay). Wet-dry separation in the bathroom was nice. We’d prefer regular towels over the provided disposable ones but that’s just our preference. Free water refills in the bedroom. Breakfast was basic but appreciated. Owner gave us a complimentary bottle of vinegar as we left, which was very nice of him. Overall, would recommend."

"We had such a wonderful stay here! The place has a cozy, family-style vibe that instantly made us feel at home. The location couldn’t be better, just steps away from the entrance to the walled city, which made exploring super easy. The room was comfortable, with a firm bed and warm comforter that gave us a great night’s sleep, plus a hot shower to start the day right.
What really stood out was the host’s hospitality. They went above and beyond by picking us up from the hotel and sharing great suggestions on fun things to do around the city. It really made our trip extra special.
Would definitely come back again and highly recommend to anyone visiting!"

"If you want a more authentic experience than staying in a fancy hotel, this is your place. Mrs Liu (sp?) was so lovely and helpful. She speaks a bit of English and is very fast on the translation apps for what she doesn’t know. She gave us a map of the Ancient City and explained where we should visit. Every day she gave us water bottles. We stayed 2 nights.
You can experience a kang bed here, in a cozy room in a quaint courtyard. It was quite firm but still comfortable. There is air con which was needed when we were there. The bathroom is small but we found that everything didn’t get wet, despite the small size of the room.
The inn is on the “taxi-bus” route just off South Street. As it is a block from the Main Street it is significantly quieter as the honking of “taxi-buses” doesn’t happen as much in the alleyways. Just be careful to walk on the sides of the road as the mopeds and taxi-buses are electric so quiet, except for the honking which is loud and constant, and they drive quite fast for the size and busyness of the streets.
There is plenty of food places just a short walk away from the hotel. The ancient city was a lot more touristy than we had expected.
You need to prearrange with the innkeeper to organise a “taxi-bus” to pick you up from the South Gate. Regular cars are not allowed inside the city wall. We were dropped by the DiDi but it is too far and busy to walk with luggage to the inn. Mrs Liu and her husband helped us out with their mopeds.
Not many “taxi-bus” drivers know the inn as it is a smaller private hotel, so make sure you have the address printed out to show them. The taxi-bus is 10RMB pp per ride and you can flag them down anywhere on the streets they are allowed on, but they may not want to go where you want to go, so just flag another one until you get one that agrees. You scan the drivers QR code to pay.
Overall we enjoyed our stay at Pingyao Yunshu Inn."

"The stay was amazing!! The service impecable, location superb and lovely room!
The Inn is located on a very central road close to the gate to the ancient city. Even though its very central, the rooms are in a back garden so its very peacefull and quiet.
The room was spacious, clean and the bed very comfortable! They even have a small terrace with view of the skyline!
But the best part was the service! The person working at the teception supported us with anything we asked, it felt like a piece of authentic chinese hospitality!
I can only recommend this beautiful Inn to anyone visiting Pingyao!"

"這房太棒了，新裝修的，絕對的有味道。據説是三百年的老房子，兩進院。店家是夫妻兩，特別熱情樸實，接送站，幫拿行李，娃突然病了，早餐送房間（餐食是老闆娘每天五六點起來現做的，我親眼看到的），還多給了礦泉水，這裏也能點外賣，哪哪都好。離新東門很近，去景點都很方便，來的時候還給城裡的圖紙幫忙講解，這次娃發燒就住了兩天，基本沒怎麼玩，下次還要來，據店家大哥説過些日子城隍廟附近的餐廳就要開了，下次來去嚐嚐。還有因為娃生病改了幾次火車，大哥都積極配合送站，太感謝了。過些日子還要再來，大少奶奶還沒拍呢。祝生意興隆，首次獨自帶娃出行很坎坷，但是店家給予了很多幫助很温暖，這是個有愛的民宿。
歡迎水果、中葯材養生香囊、雲憩自選下午茶都有，還給了飯館打折卡。"

Kang Qian Ji Mansion is located at No. 33, Chang Xiang Street, within the ancient city of Pingyao. It was constructed in 1838 during the reign of Emperor Daoguang of the Qing Dynasty. Currently, it is a county-level cultural heritage site. It was originally the residence of Wang Jin-ting, the manager of the Pingyao Tiancheng Heng Bank’s Hankou branch. Wang Jin-ting (1859–1938), whose full name was Quan Yi and whose courtesy name was Jin-ting, was from the village of Xi Zhang Zhao in Pingyao. In his youth, he worked in the Tiancheng Heng Bank. After the bank’s collapse, he was recommended by Lu Rongting, the governor of Guangdong and Guangxi, to serve as an assistant manager at the Guangxi Bank. In 1924, Wang Jin-ting purchased the residence at No. 33 Chang Xiang Street in Pingyao’s ancient city, which had originally been a government residence. The courtyard’s floor plan features a pair of phoenixes spreading their wings, with the phoenix facing the grain market and its tail extending over the Helaoxian Bridge, symbolizing vitality and auspiciousness.
The courtyard has weathered the passage of time, and with the changes in society, it was acquired by Kang Qian Ji Catering Company in 2025. We uphold the “Deren” principle of the Jin merchants, striving to restore and maintain the original state of the courtyard. The courtyard’s brick carvings of the麒麟 delivering children symbolize the owner’s dedication to preserving the Jin merchant culture and their best wishes for the guests. The wooden carvings of the phoenix and dragon support the pillars, showcasing the courtyard’s grandeur and elegance. Additionally, we have incorporated environmental and humanistic sciences to adopt a modern, luxurious style within the rooms, equipped with smart guest control systems, custom-made bathrooms, and ergonomically designed memory foam bedding and mattresses. The mansion has been transformed into a masterpiece that seamlessly blends ancient craftsmanship with modern technology.
