I chose this resort as a bit of a last minute thing, as I wasn't sure that I would go abroad, giving the current political climate. There were absolutely no worries at all. Sharm el Sheik has unobtrusive security and I never felt in any danger during my stay. The Egyptian people appear to be very warm and friendly and most have fabulous smiles!!! What a beautiful hotel! I received the warmest most genuine welcome and my room was fantastic, with terrace, sea view, palm trees et al. My bed was kingsize and firm which really was the most comfortable for me. I loved the beach which catered for all tastes; lying on sun lounger, playing volleyball, learning dance routines for zumba, beachside cafe, snorkelling, scuba diving, paddling, football and so on. The sea is a beautiful blue/turquoise colour and is clear as glass. Snorkelling is a must. I learned to snorkel (am OAP) and cannot thank Abdu Mando Ezal enough, who is as handsome, fit, strong and patient as he is proficient at recognising safety issues and calming petrified old ladies down. What a star he is and a true asset to the hotel. Pay him more!!!! As a fully inclusive guest, my first two days consisted of eating like a starving hog; the food was beyond delicious and my greed got the best of me. The desserts are so sublime, you can just help yourself at the buffet. By the third day, I recognised that Slimming World were not going to be impressed, and I managed to manage myself a little better, by eating the beautifully prepared fresh fruit in the morning, a totally mixed salad at lunch and a proper meal in the evening. This diet suited me very well and I lost 6lbs in weight which pleased me immensely. The food was so varied and delicious that all tastes are catered for within the religious boundaries. The restaurant is very clean, hygienic and the staff are most friendly and helpful. I must give a shout out to the most excellent manager, Mr Sayed Khairy, who oversees Food and Beverages. Delightfully handsome, humorous and personable, he is very quick to attend to any enquiries or requests. His under manager Mohammed, works non stop ensuring the restaurant is running efficiently and well. The grounds are fabulous. The gardens are continuously maintained and the hibiscus were just starting to flower before I left. Manager Ayman Heikal oversees the grounds and they are a pleasure. At night time, they are all lit up like fairy world, so walking back to your accommodation on dark evenings is never an issue. The hotel arranged a free excursion around Sharm to see the sights and this was informative and most enjoyable. They have various excursions available through SUN at very reasonable prices and they do all they can to ensure that you have an awe-inspiring time. Whilst there, I visited Cairo by plane including Cairo Museum, Giza Pyramids, Sphinx, Camel ride, Papyrus shop. I rode on Quad bikes including a show, another camel ride, excellent dinner. I have spent one week at Sharm Grand Plaza Hotel, i saw alot of reviews that saying don't go there but from my point of view that you can access this hotel with no problem. The most strong point at this hotel is the staf, all of them are welling to serve even if you didn't give a tip. Rooms need to be renovated but the cleaners made the different Swimming pools are good however the water is hot a bit. The bars are faraway than the reception the drinks hot and the beers finished by 11 o'clock maximum by 13, and the most funny thing is the only bar at the lobby area is extra charges. Restaurant it's not Italian but you will not feel hungry, only the snacks bar needs more variety. All in all it's fine for the amount that we paid.

We spent a wonderful week at the Steigenberger Alcazar, on 24th February, Robert, Kim, Sue, and Ian, unfortunately, due to a slight flight delay arrived at the hotel around 9 pm we went straight into the Zohreya restaurant buffet which was still very well stocked with loads of hot choices of food, our waiter was very helpful, once fed we went to one of the nice cocktail bars for a couple of drinks, Finally went to our room around midnight, the room was extremely nice and very big, with two large queen size beds together, a huge bathroom with a lovely walk-in shower, Here comes the only negative to our holiday, our rooms 3104 and 3102 although both very close to the adult pool area, which is where we spent most of our holiday, both faced over the hotel next door, so our view was of the side of the adjacent hotel, and a noisy air conditioning unit above I would think a restaurant. On returning to our rooms at the end of the day to sit on the balcony it was very noisy. The hotel was only approx 40% capacity, so in this case, why not give all your guests the best possible rooms available, i.e. pool view or even sea view, the reason is to encourage them to come back and maybe pay for an upgraded room next time round, also word of mouth is the best possible advertising for a hotel. That is just a suggestion for the hotel. Now back to the many positives, breakfast at the buffet, Zohreya restaurant every morning our waiter would have our table ready, the same table in the sun as we liked that, 4 latte coffees and 4 OJ’s, breakfast, the choices were vast and amazing, the pastries I have never seen such choice, I have been to all-inclusive’ s in Europe Mexico and the Caribbean, this was the best for breakfast, choices of hot, cold, fruit, cereals, juices and hot drinks always being topped up. Pastry chef always there describing every one of his fabulous cakes Five al a-cart restaurants, Amoura Lebanese restaurant, overlooking the pool. Firstly we tried the Shisha while sipping on cocktails, and then we enjoyed a hearty meal with a hint of spices from all over the Middle East, Mr Hamid was extremely helpful in talking us through the menu. Hama restaurant, we were told to ask for Ahmed, he looked after us and recommended our meals for the evening, authentic Japanese offerings of sashimi, Tempura, Teppanyaki, and more. Fantastic, salmon, seabass, prawns, chicken rice, and noodles, truly amazing food. This restaurant also offers its show cooking Teppanyaki experience La Maison restaurant, has delicious food, but our least favourite. Best value for money half board Sharm El Sheikh hotel? It's a resort! In Egypt, the water quality is not good regardless of the hotels near the beach. I definitely recommend bringing a filter! Sharm Al Sheikh hotels are usually expensive, but here you can stay at a relatively low price! The food is also delicious.
