The hotel is in a good location, just in the small town on Devon Lake. The room standard is 16 square meters, but it feels like it should be more than 20 square meters. Clean and hygienic. The service attitude is good, we arrived early, and the front desk gave the room without saying a word. The restaurant in the hotel is also very good and the dishes are delicious. Some local elderly people say that they have been eating in the restaurant for more than 20 years.

We started and fin our linier hike from here,we had 2 4 bed rooms and ours had a balcony overlooking the river,check in was quick and easy and we all got settled in the rooms before having a beer in the bar/dining area, The rooms are comfortable with enough space for kit and the beds although bunk beds are well made and sturdy, Our room had a toilet and shower with a sink in the sleeping area,oneroblem we had was the toilet never filled properly and this was reported to reception, The hostel is popular and when we were there a group of 50 students were also there but the staff were great at serving either beers or breakfast in the morning. It's a great place to head out from with its excellent location and we will deffo stay here again

From the minute we pulled up to the minute we left, couldn't fault a single thing. Lovely welcome on arrival, showed to a fantastic room and breakfast arrangements explained. Room was more than adequate with a really comfortable bed, good shower and tea/coffee facilities at hand,and breakfast was amazing, with really good selection and quality produce. Host couldnt do enough for you, even when he was flying solo on this particular weekend. Great location and close to town but just far enough out not to get any noise( 2- 3 mins walk). Managed to get a parking space in the street opposite, so car never moved all weekend. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again when next up there. Thanks for a great stay Noel & Lisa (Room 3)

Just returned home after a 6 hour journey from hell but yet again another great stay at the Lodge in the Vale. Have been coming to the Lodge for 3 years roughly now and the hospitality as per usual was top class. Perfect location for whatever your reasoning is for visiting the Lakes, whether its to climb the hills, explore the Lakes and all its beautiful surroundings or like myself, a avid plane spotter wanting to climb the hills for the low flying aircraft (when the weather allows). Rooms are consistently clean and tidy, nothing is ever too much to ask for if you need anything extra or more off if you stay for 4/5 nights etc, you get offered a mini room service half way through your stay if you require anything doing (new towels/etc). Not a breakfast eating person but always get lunch in the cafe after a morning out & about and the food is always spot on, whether you have a lovely warm soup or a toasted Panini! Already looking forward to my next trip and to seeing the brilliant team at both the Lodge in the Vale and the sister pub just down the road The Kings Head (30 seconds in the car or 10 min walk away) where Peter & his team always look after you if you’re staying with the Lodge! 5 stars isn’t enough for these guys!

This was our first stay at Fellpack House and definitely won't be our last. From arrival the Team are welcoming, friendly and helpful. The decor throughout is gorgeous. A great choice of breakfast with fantastic views over the fells, what better way to start your day. The lounge is fab to chill in with drinks, games and books, perfect way to end your night. What a drying room...very spacious with lots of hooks and space for your gear. Jodie was great giving us a few recommendations for walks which were spot on. See you soon guys.

Just had a fabulous break at Armathwaite Hall to celebrate my 70th birthday. This hotel is beautifully decorated for Christmas with Christmas trees and decorations everywhere, including on the door of your bedroom. Upon arrival, my room was upgraded because it was my 70th birthday. Most unexpected but gratefully received. My sister and her husband were in the room next to ours and despite theirs not being an upgrade, the room was lovely, comfortable and had its own balcony. We ate in the new Grill restaurant and the food and ambience were second to none. Breakfast was in the main restaurant where you could choose cooked breakfast or Continental. The food in here was also amazing, beautifully presented by the most pleasant and helpful staff. The grounds of the hotel are stunning and the spa is gorgeous. I must say the staff at this hotel are all top notch. Really pleasant, very helpful and nothing appears to be a trouble to them Would I recommend a stay at Armathwaite? Most definitely. Will we go back? Yes, we have already discussed it and decided on our dates as three of the four of us on this trip have a December birthday!

Very nice would highly recommend breakfast was 5 🌟 comfortable room and bed very quiet will definitely go back . Street parking but we had no problem finding a space ,Only tip I can give you is to book somewhere to eat on your first night as all the pubs where booked up and we ended up having a pizza from a takeaway .

We used The Grange as a base for our week in The Lakes. What a super find. Sally and her team are excellent. I had had a small procedure on my knee the week before so they found us a room with easier access. All the rooms are lovely though nicely decorated, clean and fresh. The breakfast set us for the day and we skipped lunch most days because of that. It is quite a hill to walk up from town but well worth it. The views are wonderful.
