Stayed in the yurt for one night and I was really impressed. Log fire in there so that was cosy, beds were comfy and linen really clean. The facilities were great in the main building to games, books, vending machine, bar etc. Toilets were clean didn't need to use the shower. Great views of the lake, would 100% stay again!

Stayed at Compston House over the Easter weekend. Megan and John are very welcoming and friendly! Our room was clean, tidy and had everything you needed. We parked using the parking pass in the local car park and had no issues. The breakfast options were great and cooked nicely, not sure what they do to their hash browns but they are unreal! 5 stars just for the hash browns. Recommend going to The Priest Hole for dinner if you are staying here, it’s just up the road and incredible food!

Came up for a meet up with friends for some walking on the surrounding fells. Arrived about four and the carpark was full and like an ice rink. Waited a few minutes and thankfully some day walkers on their last day came and took their cars away. Checked in and happily I was in the main house. The rest of the group was already there and so it was odd for drinks and food. It's been a few years since I've been to this hostel as my Wainwright journey has had me in different areas. Looks like the communal areas have had a fresh paint job which has brightened up the building. Had breakfast twice which was excellent. Made my own on the last morning and the smaller kitchen was in desperate need of a mixing bowl. Other than that no issues. All in all a great stay and I look forward to another visit in March. Hopefully room 7 is my room again on that visit.

Excellent location, with easy access to Grasmere and all its amenities. Breakfast was mostly great, especially the cooked options, and staff were always friendly. Our room was on the top floor with stunning views and we found it clean and tidy. However, the large window and unconventional shape meant that closing the curtains fully was impossible, resulting in poor sleep quality; this seems like an oversight. Parking was quite tricky due to lack of spaces. Although staff were friendly, there seemed to be an overall air of disorganisation; the front desk is not constantly attended, and there is a lack of access to the seating area downstairs that has games and books, as it was mostly locked. Overall, it was a good stay.

GGuest UserAbsolutely perfect stay. We booked “Holly” a wonderful ground floor room, tastefully decorated and furnished with a comfy bed and small pine table and chairs. Really stylish modern large shower room. We’ve never taken our dog to stay in accommodation before but felt at ease straight away. There was enough room for his bed and we’d brought our own bed cover just in case he jumped on our bed, but there were fleeces rolled up ready to use for doggy guests. We own our own holiday let and know how much thought and effort goes into ensuring guests are comfortable and have an enjoyable time. I can safely say Lake View is perfect. We felt really welcomed, it was a lovely and warm, quiet and comfortable stay and we’ll definitely be back! As always we read previous reviews and have to admit having a chuckle at the negative ones for Lake View. Honestly it’s about 2 mins flat from the most delicious breakfast at the Sport Inn. We’d recommend you book a table in advance for an evening meal to avoid disappointment, easy to do online. There’s a parking space with the room which is brilliant considering how much parking is at a premium in the village. Do take advantage of the location for walks too, you won’t be disappointed. (Deleted our original review and reposted because somehow it had it as 4 stars not 5 and Lake View and it’s owners thoroughly deserve a 5)

Although staff were friendly, there seemed to be an overall air of disorganisation; the front desk is not constantly attended, and there is a lack of access to the seating area downstairs that has games and books, as it was mostly locked. Overall, it was a good stay.

GGuest UserCame up for a meet up with friends for some walking on the surrounding fells. Arrived about four and the carpark was full and like an ice rink. Waited a few minutes and thankfully some day walkers on their last day came and took their cars away. Checked in and happily I was in the main house. The rest of the group was already there and so it was odd for drinks and food. It's been a few years since I've been to this hostel as my Wainwright journey has had me in different areas. Looks like the communal areas have had a fresh paint job which has brightened up the building. Had breakfast twice which was excellent. Made my own on the last morning and the smaller kitchen was in desperate need of a mixing bowl. Other than that no issues. All in all a great stay and I look forward to another visit in March. Hopefully room 7 is my room again on that visit.

ZZHEN1. Location, the hotel is just by the lake, but it is a 30-minute drive from Windermere, and it is far from the Lake District. 2. Some rooms can accommodate an extra bed, 15 pounds a day, including breakfast. 3, the hotel is large and has a lot of parking spaces. 4. The meal is great, classic English. 5, the hotel toiletries are good, is the British Royal Development Supplies MB, the bathroom's heating rack is open in the summer, the towel will be done overnight. JJUNThe location of the hotel is average. Have their own garden, the room is quite large, dinner should be booked in advance, asking for a window. Service is too good, 15 minutes walk from Lake Grasmere.
