The check in process was strange and confusing but once in the room was nice and we were able to relax on the comfortable bed. 4 pillows provided without having to ask was nice. The decor was also lovely and we had pretty much everything we needed. The road is noisy however so we had to listen to a lot of traffic, not to mention the inconsiderate guests in the room next door playing music and chatting at 5am, not the hotel's fault I suppose. It was extremely difficult to regulate the water temperature in the shower. The little milk cups were 5 months past the use by date so sadly we couldn't have a cuppa. Glad I noticed this!! It took 45 minutes to walk from the train station so not the best location for the city centre but we knew this before booking to be fair. There's a Lidl, McDonalds, ASDA and Tim Hortons nearby and a couple of nice parks. Overall I'd probably stay again if convenient to do so and hope for less selfish neighbours.

Lovely stay at Black Lion. Watched a show at AO Arena and it is a flat 10 minute walk from the arena and Manchester Victoria. We stayed in 'Shambles' - lovely and clean, bed super comfy. The rooms have tea/coffee facilities, ironing board and shampoo etc (no hairdryer, that would be a welcome addition!). Breakfast was lovely, aside from the hot options there is also cereal & juices. Would definitely recommend and stay in again - Harry was very welcoming and friendly, a great host!

GGuest UserI stayed for 2 nights on business. Have stayed previously. The hotel staff are always friendly and helpful the hotel is a great base, clean and comfortable beds. I would recommend the breakfast too. The young man on reception is so helpful and even remembers faces of those who have previously stayed. He is a credit to your hotel, his customer services skills are excellent. Thanks also to all the staff who work in various sectors of the hotel.

PPHYO PHYO WAI YANG YINGWe travelled with teenage son for this UK trip so we preferred 2 Bedroom apartments, our preference is service apartment. This is a good price for this location, this comfort. We booked for 3 nights stay unfortunately they dont provide housekeeping daily, [ no towel change / no dish washing/ etc ] however you may request for housekeeping daily @£45/day!. The rooms are not big though but comfortable enough for 3 adults. 2 Bedrooms 2 bathrooms 2 queen bed , washer , fridge, kitchen, nespresso machine etc .The location is good 5 mins - 10 mins to food, malls etc. They offer special price for car park opposite Qpark at £18/day. That's good for us cheaper than London which cost us £50/day. Cons: The apartment living room lights are too dim, has widnow but locked and feel stuffy. Pros: we prefer service apartments for long trip with family.

GGuest UserFirst the good bit. Staff very welcoming, helpful and efficient. Not so good. Ordered soup of the day, it was barely on the warm side. What’s hard about checking that food is hot before it’s served? Also, eleven quid for a glass of Merlot. Is this North Manchester or central London? Went to my room for a shower. The shower rail and head were incapable of being secured in a fixed position. The whole thing continuously drooped, sagged and slid around and had to be constantly readjusted. There were only two settings available for the water. A pathetic red hot dribble or a freezing cold dribble. No amount of swearing or fiddling and faffing with the controls made the slightest bit of difference. After a pleasant evening out in Tyldesly l returned to the Hotel and retired to bed. At approximately 5.00 am, l was very suddenly awoken by what sounded very much as if someone had crept in to my room in turned on a vacuum cleaner. Despite having established that no one was actually in the room and no vacuum cleaner could be seen, the noise continued for about five minutes. I was unable to find out what the noise was or where it was coming from. I returned to my bed. At around 9.00 am l started to have strange dreams about someone knocking on my hotel room door while muttering something about “ house keeping” the dream suddenly became real when this same person unlocked and entered my room, still blathering away about “ house keeping”. I suggested that he might wish to travel far and multiply. The room was mine till midday, what was he thinking? Later l went down stairs to find the breakfast room. I wondered around trying to find it, but could only find what appeared to be a 24 hour night club that was serving food accompanied by loud music. On closer inspection and some tentative, shouted, inquiries, it turned out that this was in fact the breakfast room. Has anyone ever, in the entire history of UK commercial accommodation, demanded or complained about the lack of loud music while eating breakfast? I very much doubt it.

CCher TurnerVery new hotel rooms. Massive space. We had kids so plenty rooms for them and the baby cot. Seperate toilet and bathroom which I will say is great design for more than 1 person using the room. Seperate tea making area, looks delicate for takeaway preparation with a sink as well, which is bonus for if anyone didn't like to use the sink in the toilet for make tea or wash cutlery. It will be better to have a little fridge, as proper tea drinker would like to have fresh milk. My kids and hubby had breakfast, which is reasonable price £10 per person, they rate it easy 7/10, coffee let the breakfast down. On site parking also very good value £14per night. Location is excellent, very near to piccadillly train station, walking distance to Central Manchester. Special mention, excellent staffs! Everyone is very friendly and helpful! Genuinely nice, saw my husband taking 3 kids to breakfast, offer helps and make sure he and the kids alright. Hightly recommended!

Anyway went out to OT got back at 9:45 tried to get 2 hot drinks from the bar but told machine was off. Room was just ok. Looks like it needs an upgrade. Room was clean enough but the bathroom had several cracked tiles, horrible silicone and an actual chip in the bath that had been ‘painted’. Bed was awful. That mattress had seen some traffic and in desperate need of a changing. Breakfast.. bloody hell where do I start. Waitress at the desk was very pleasant. No cutlery on the table. Several dirty tables waiting to be cleaned away. No plates at the hot food area, then topped up with cold plates once requested. Offer of hot food was poor. Dishes under the lights with very little left. Looked like it had been rattled by a bus tour, this was 8:30. Maids were very pleasant, receptionist upon checking out was also Bert nice. All in all decent staff bang average hotel and amenities. If I had paid £150 for the night then fair enough but it was £300 ..
