We booked through Jet2 and I have to admit I hadn't done my homework very good. Our room was a Classic. On arrival found out that this is in the Reception Building. On the ground floor there is Reception, Bar and lounge areas. The bedrooms are located on the 1st floor - there are stairs and a lift. The other rooms with balcony's are located just across the road. On the ground floor and first floor - on the second floor is the pool and breakfast area. Our room was No. 136 which had 3 windows, which open - two windows overlooked the bar - just across the alley and the second window the road. The room is quite spacious - very clean and light from the windows, during the day. If you are a light sleeper, definitely a no. My husband wears hearing aids so once he took them out, he slept like a baby - but the noise goes on until the bars close after midnight. A good sized bed, very comfortable, pillows the same. There was only one chair - although when I asked we were provided with a dining chair. The wardrobe is opposite the door as you enter the room - you need the light on. The bathroom for two older, not so slim people was a bit tricky. The shower is to the left of the door, the sink directly in front and the toilet behind the door. So you have to open the door, lean back against the shower and the sink to squeeze round the door to get to the toilet. There is only one hook in the bathroom and not much shelf space in the room. Breakfast was good, plenty of choices and the staff are really pleasant and helpful. No problem with getting a sun bed in the pool area and the pool is very clean. We had a snack lunch on one occasion - a steak sandwich and it was excellent. The bar in the reception closed around 20.30. Daniel on reception was really helpful. The hotel is situated in a lovely spot, overlooking the harbour. Around the hotel are lots of bars and restaurants to choose from. We tried quite a few and they were all very good, quality and quantity of food. There is a local bus stop and the HOHO bus stops just up the hill from the hotel. Madeira is a beautiful island and is well worth a visit. The people are very welcoming.

Clean modern hotel. Gorgeous rooms overlooking the beautiful black sand beach and rocky ocean. The huge glass doors that open to the big patio makes the whole room airy like the outside. Nice to sit outside and enjoy a glass of wine and watch the boats go by. Sleeping on the comfortable bed and listening to the waves at night was pure heaven. The bathroom outdated but large and functional. The double beds were right beside each other which was strange but we could live with it. The pool was not heated but very clean and refreshing. The sitting area by the pool was gorgeous and relaxing. You can get pool towels at the reception for a refundable 10 euro. We only had the breakfast but it was fresh and plentiful with lots of options. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Vor 20 Jahren hatten wir bereits einen Aufenthalt in diesem Hotel erlebt, der damals sehr zufriedenstellend und äußerst entspannend war. Die Ausstattung war ebenfalls in gutem Zustand. Leider hat sich seit unserem letzten Besuch vor zwei Jahrzehnten wenig verändert. Die Handtücher, die wir vor 20 Jahren schon einmal genutzt hatten, waren immer noch im Gebrauch und zeigten deutliche Verschleißerscheinungen, sogar Ränder waren aufgelöst. Bei unserer Ankunft wurden wir gleich darauf hingewiesen, die Poolhandtücher öfter zu verwenden, was uns etwas befremdlich vorkam. Trotzdem haben wir nach vier Tagen die Zimmerhandtücher auf den Boden gelegt, in der Hoffnung, dass sie ausgetauscht werden. Leider geschah dies nicht. Ein weiterer Punkt, der uns enttäuschte. Außerdem ist vor den Zimmern eine neue Straße gebaut worden, wodurch wir den Eindruck hatten, als würden die Fahrzeuge direkt durch unser Zimmer fahren. Besonders in den Nächten zwischen 1 und 4 Uhr waren viele Jugendliche mit lauten Motorrädern und Autos ohne Schalldämpfer unterwegs, was zu schlaflosen Nächten führte. Am nächsten Morgen entdeckten wir sogar Kreise, die von den Hinterrädern der Fahrzeuge gezeichnet wurden. Ein wichtiger Tipp bei der Auswahl eines Hotels: Achten Sie immer darauf, dass keine Straße vor dem Hotel verläuft, selbst wenn es einen Meerblick bietet. Der zweite Punkt geht nur aufgrund des ausgesprochen netten Personals an das Hotel. ************ Twenty years ago, we had already experienced a stay at this hotel, which was very satisfying and extremely relaxing at that time. The facilities were also in good condition. Unfortunately, little has changed since our last visit two decades ago. The towels we had used twenty years ago were still in use and showed clear signs of wear and tear, with even the edges being frayed. Upon our arrival, we were immediately advised to use the pool towels more frequently, which struck us as somewhat strange. Nevertheless, after four days, we placed the room towels on the floor in the hope that they would be replaced. Unfortunately, this did not happen, which was another disappointment. Furthermore, a new road has been built in front of the rooms, giving us the impression that vehicles were driving right through our room. Especially during the nights between 1 and 4 am, many young people on loud motorcycles and cars without mufflers were causing sleepless nights. The next morning, we even discovered circles drawn by the rear wheels of the vehicles. An important tip when choosing a hotel: always make sure that there is no road in front of the hotel, even if it offers a sea view. The second point is awarded solely due to the exceptionally friendly staff at the hotel.

Second time até this hotel. Everything went great, staff and service is great. Food os good. Location is great. Right at the seafront. Beach is good but a little rocky. Great family trip and amazing new years eve. ........,...................

The location is relatively biased, away from the central area, but the bus and airport bus can arrive, most of the hotels are old people, rooms, corridors, swimming pools are barrier-free. Not suitable for lone or young people.

After several nights, you will notice that one or another manco, but for us, in general, everything is still at a level where it seems appropriate to the style. Very stylish overall and the professionalism or the handling of most employees with the guests at a successful level. In fact, you must not ignore the P/L. Not for everyone the right thing, but even the situation is a super compromise for us.

This hotel was excellent. There are 1 and 2 star reviews here on TA - I do not recognise the picture in these reviews - all I can say is that the more spelling mistakes I see in a review, the less I value it. (I mean - you expect the hotel to be so perfect in every respect, the least you could do is exercise the same level of care and attention in your review. How can you expect high standards elsewhere when you don't hold yourself to the same level?) From the moment we walked in we felt welcome. The check-in was very simple and efficient. We arrived quite late, and they'd thought to have a tray of cold food sent up to our room for us. Thank you! There is an underground car-park free for guests (useful with a hire car) and whilst we were there it was not too busy at any point. The Wifi is easy to connect to and pretty fast. It did tend to drop out quite a bit when in the main bar area, but otherwise it was problem-free. The pools and areas are excellent - perhaps it would be nice to have one of the outdoor pools slightly heated - they could be cold. The little gym is fine - like most hotel gyms its not exactly a full health-club, but it allows you to keep up most of your workout routine. Restaurants - really good. The buffet for breakfast and evening meal was excellent - very well presented, maintained, and huge choice. That includes for vegetarians, with the slight caveat that it would have been nice to have vegetarian hot main meals for dinner, although with the very wide salad range, no-one is short of choice. The three special restaurants (Madeiran, Italian, and Moroccan) were also great, and although you have to book in advance, there's no limitation on how many times you can go. Vegetarians here generally have to ask, but then there are plenty of options. The staff in all the restaurants were particularly friendly and good at what they do. The room was nice, and comfortable. We had a double room with an extra bed (to make it a family room) - perhaps it was a little small for that given that it is a 5-star, but it was by no means cramped and if you were just a couple in that, then you'd be fine. The room housekeeping was good. A small criticism is that although there was a leaflet saying that soft drinks in the minibar would be replaced (for free) this wasn't done - I don't know if we needed to specifically ask. It wasn't a problem for us (or we would have asked) but it would be nice to have had that happen automatically. Point of criticism - we seemed to spend a little longer waiting for lifts than would be ideal - there seemed to be one lift out of operation although no signage to that effect, and the lifts were a little under-sized - quite cramped when more than three people were in. In many ways the experience of a hotel like this can be affected by the number of people, and while we were here, it didn't seem overly full - perfect for us but may not always be like that. DONT LET MISERABLE NEGATIVE PEOPLE PUT YOU OFF.... THE AREA: Right, so yes, there is building works happening next door, but so what, it gives people work and will be a beautiful hotel when finished, it really isn't that bad, people just like things to whinge about THE HOTEL: Yes it is a little dated, but again so what? If you want the mod cons of your own home, don't go away, the staff are polite (not at all grumpy) the rooms are spotless and comfy and all the staff work tirelessly. However please remember people mirror others behaviours, so going by some people on here, I'm not surprised they seemed miserable THE FOOD - the food is fine, there's a huge collection of things at breakfast to have, I made bacon & egg sandwiches, but I guess that's too much effort for some people. I really must be a happy positive person, and by God there must a lot of miserable negative people about who have such boring lives all they want to is pick fault and moan. DONT GO ON HOLIDAY IF DIFFERENT FOOD AND CULTURES ARE GOING TO ANNOY YOU! Thankyou to the hotel I've enjoyed my stay ☺️
