Horrible reactions towards a simple mistake. I added a bit of butter to the waffle irons and one staff member stops me and tells me not to put butter in there as they are nonstick and proceeds to mention how she works there, thus supporting her credibility. Her tone of voice was rude however I didn’t think the situation would escalate. I tell her that I trust her and tried mashing the butter clumps as I knew that clumps would make the damage worse. Then, another voice in the far back is raised at me and says not to put butter in the iron and to leave if I cannot control my urgencies. Assumptions are employees biggest problems which was clearly obvious. The employee tells my administrator that I said that I don’t trust the iron and she also said that I kept putting butter after I was told not to. The lack of awareness is quite shocking. I never said that. She twisted my words. That probably made her feel powerful to scold me and to tell the admin. I had to tell the administrator in private what REALLY happened because what she said were lies. I’m gonna be the assumer this time and say I’m sure those two employees who got upset and gave nasty tones are the reason why the hotel has so many negative reviews. They need to understand that mistakes happen and life continues. I’m shocked that I received that treatment. Today’s event needs to be addressed. Aside from the immature reactions, there was no sign saying “don’t put butter in the waffle irons” and there wasn’t a bottle of nonstick spray. With my understanding of working with waffle irons, I put butter or nonstick spray. Most American households that use waffle irons have this understanding as well.
