Visited the hotel between Sept 17-18. The location is wonderful, along with the provided amenities. Josh at the front desk helped us check in smoothly and provided excellent service during our stay. Josh went above and beyond what would normally be expected from your typical guest services and did a fantastic job accommodating our requests. Would recommend a trip out to the Granlibakken if you ever get a chance.
The hotel was great and the location was excellent. It is a converted 60’s motel that has been nicely updated. The rooms aren’t fancy, but the bed and showers are good. We ended up staying an extra day and had to switch rooms, and they were the same good quality. Out room faced the lake and had a gorgeous view without even getting out of the comfy bed. Along with a nice ambiance, the location is excellent. Walking distance to marina and boat trips, grocery store and CVS across the street, as well as numerous great restaurants within walking distance. We only needed to drive to go up to Palisade (formerly Squaw), so a great place to avoid traffic stress. Area was relaxing and quiet while we were there (early June). We had s’mores at the fire pit and walked to the farmers market and brought back breakfast on the deck surveying the lake. Loved it and will return.
We really needed a getaway after a recent loss. We were looking forward to our lakefront view as shown in the extremely limited property photos. Our small queen suite was exactly that. Small, quirky and not really lakefront. We overlooked a parking lot and small marina and boat rental and were jot directly over the water as pictured online. The room had ridiculous angles and really felt like one room with a diagonal wall divide to make it a suite. The space to walk through to get into the bathroom was only 24” wide between the quirky wall (which I walked into in the dark) and dresser. We made it work for our four nights. The sofa was comfortable. The bed had a good mattress but too fluffy pillows and slightly rough bedding. I had to use my clothing as a pillow. The maid service did not check shower soaps and the refrigerator was too small and smelly. Lastly, the breakfast offered enough when it was stocked, which was not consistent. One of the staff was rude to me about the hot water actually being coffee and did not apologize when it was true. Other staff came by to take food that was behind the counter for themselves, and did not restock food for the guests, leaving empty trays. Afternoon beverages were good, but the smoke from the fireplace below rose up and made it difficult to stay in the area. Something about the cookies was not quite right and after one we avoided them.
I've stayed at the Pepper Tree Inn several times in the last decade and was always pleased with my stay. However, I was super disappointed in my stay this past weekend. First of all, we couldn't check into our room until nearly 6 p.m., after being told the room would be ready by the promised check-in time of 4 p.m. I understand they are short-staffed, and I was promised a 50% refund on my room. Upon entering the room, it was stiflingly hot and I realized the Pepper Tree doesn't have any AC. I should have checked the website, but I guess I just assumed they would have this amenity. Basically, it was super hard to sleep because it was so stuffy and warm in the room. Overall, the property seemed tired and worn-out, and the pool filled with mulch is so depressing. Very sad - this hotel is not at all what I remember. I'm hoping it's just a Covid recovery situation and that it will improve over the coming months. I'd still come back and stay there in the winter, but unless they get AC, I wouldn't recommend it for a summer visit.

The Village at Palisades Tahoe is an excellent lodging location any time of year when visiting the iconic Lake Tahoe ski resort that hosted the 1960 Olympics. We had a one-bedroom condo for three nights in late early October 2021. We loved the condo and the gorgeous window view and private balcony overlooking the Village and the beautiful ski hill at Palisades Tahoe, formerly Squaw Valley. The Village at Palisades features five buildings that are all are centrally located. This is a terrific lodging location for pursuing any nearby activity – winter or summer. The Village has a friendly feel with seemingly something for all ages. Our room featured a kitchen with many of the amenities you find in your own kitchen at home. We had an oven for cooking, dishwasher, good counter space, silverware, knives, pots-pans, and a decent size refrigerator. It’s a great way to save money – eat at home! There was a nice, comfortable pullout couch that easily sleeps two people. The living room also had two chairs for additional living room seating and a centrally located TV that features a sizable selection of channels. Our bedroom, while not spacious, had decent closet space and an area to hang up and store folded clothes. The queen bed was comfortable and the room came with a mounted TV on the wall with lots of channel options. Other sleeping accommodations were perfect for kids. There was a bunk bed in the far side of the living room that could sleep 2-3 kids. The living room also had a comfortable pullout couch, two chairs, gas fireplace, and enough room for an entire family to lounge around during the evenings. There were conveniently two bathrooms, one of them with a separate small shower that was next to a tub-shower – both located just outside the bedroom, Each bathroom was stocked with everything one needs – shampoo, conditioner, soap, ect. We had a clean room that was serviced by some very attentive cleaning personnel. The condo buildings feature multiple hot tubs and a sauna that heats up pretty well. The hot tubs are a favorite of families, especially in the afternoon and early evening in ski season. There are multiple restaurants in the Village, all with a different focus, including an Irish pub – Auld Dubliner. It has a wonderful happy hour, typically a lively evening crowd, and has friendly bartenders and staff. For folks who love to browse or buy, the Village features some high-end shops, several ski-oriented locations, and other shops that are appealing to men, women and kids. An ice cream location, a Starbucks and another location – Coffeebar (that seems to be a favorite of locals) – are popular places to congregate. There are additional shops and restaurants closer to the famed Olympic ski hill. It’s very convenient, not a ton of walking to get to one of the lower-level base ski lifts or hopping on the Funitel for a scenic journey up the hill. The Village at Palisades Tahoe is the type of place where you park the car once you get there and th

I am not a complainer (look at my prior reviews for proof). But..... CONS: Odor-Halls/rooms have strong, sharp ODOR of mold/mildew (previous reviewers are correct). No exaggeration. DANGEROUS, especially for anyone with respiratory issues/young children. Front desk manager-truly rudest hotel employee I, or anyone in my family, have ever encountered. Ever Encountered. Like ever. No elevator for bags-zero offer of help from front desk, as they watched us. Really no big deal, however just a weird blasé employee attitude. Housekeeping-erratic, do not clean glassware, do not refill soap and we returned to our suite door unlocked & door AJAR. I kid you not. Dated-not rustic, just in disrepair, dank & smelly. Prior reviewers are correct. Keycards-we had to have them reprogrammed daily. Their explanation: “We know, just come back again tomorrow”. PROS: Location-especially if you are a skier/snowboarder. Really good restaurant-if you want only dinner Wed-Sun. No breakfast. Pool-small, but pretty. Parking-ample and free!
