Manoir de la Chapelle

Like many other reviewers, we were lucky enough to choose Le Manoir as a stopover on our way back to Calais. It really is an amazing place with so much character and history. The owner, Frederique, is so hospitable that we felt more like house guests than customers.

Like others writing reviews here, we were on our way back to the UK and this was to be our last stop before home. The manor is 15th century ad show s it. we stayed in the round tower bit, so I shall be changing my name to Rapunzle. The room was reached by a spiral stone staircase, with daylight between the steps. The room was huge and delightful, with a fabulous screen,. That sadly wouldn’t fit in my bag, and a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was tiny and the shower was about 2’6” square. One’s feet were in the shower when on the loo and you had to stand in the shower space to use the sink. Breakfast was delicious and in a separate room as there was a family staying with 3 or 4 children and lots of noise. It was a truly interesting place, full of interesting artefacts and books, and lots of cobwebs and peeling paint too. There was a lovely painting of Fredrick and I imagine that he was a bit of a Lothario in his youth. He is a very friendly and helpful host.

Fredrick is what you would call a great host and character. Accommodation in a lovely rural Manor House with good WiFi and lovely breakfast .The building is old and has a lot of character enhanced by Fredrick collection of Knick knacks and family heirlooms which are distributed throughout. 3 km outside Alencon where Fredrick gave us a recommendation. Big Carrefour supermarket nearby with fuel

We had a great weekend stay escaping from the commotion of Paris. It was a peaceful and relaxing time..the rooms had WiFi but no television so we were free of distraction. Our room has many books and I enjoyed the Tin Tin comics especially. Frédéric Was the perfect French country gentleman. An excellent host who got his hands dirty during the day working around the farm. Breakfast was delicious. Be generous when spreading the confiture. Sadly with the 1900 curfew and restaurants being closed, our options were limited. I would like to return and experience more of the area using this BnB as our base again.

Manoir de la Chapelle is een Bed and Brekfast niet ver van Alencon met gratis parkeren op het terrein. De gastheer maakt met zijn mooie verhalen een vriendelijke indruk. De kamers zijn authentiek en ook enigzins gedateerd. Het ontbijt was prima met heerlijke jam.

Un accueil chaleureux dans un endroit tellement saisissant de diversité tant en décorum qu’en intensité émotionnelle. Frédéric le maître des lieux , est un personnage au sens plein du terme, d’ailleurs c’est un peu son métier … le p’tit déj ne mérite pas ce qualificatif tant il est copieux ! Cette maison a une Âme et Frédéric la préserve avec talent. Sans présomption aucune j’oserai paraphraser Gaston Leroux en disant : "Le Manoir n'a rien perdu de son charme, ni le jardin de son éclat" n’hésitez pas à tenter de percer les mystères du Manoir de La Chapelle.

Une nuit dans les Alpes Mancelles dans un cocon atypique.. Une parenthèse hors du temps, dans un lieu authentique et hautement préservé par notre hôte qui réserve un accueil à la hauteur du lieu. Frédéric est digne du décor ! La Chambre est immense, semble sortir d'un conte et abrite certainement des secrets bien gardés... C'est magique, c'est un décor de princesse.. Même la toute petite douche (qui pourrait être le seul bémol) trouve sa petite place dans ce lieu extraordinaire.. Le petit déjeuner est servi royalement et c'est en douceur que nous retournons vers notre réalité. Je recommande vivement et la région et la halte chez Frédéric.
