Althea Village - Family Hotel

I recently went to Greece for a friends wedding and a group of 13 of us took the opportunity to book in at Tui Suneo Althea Village. I sadly left my booking too late and could not get in for the week, as the hotel was full but I booked in from Friday to Tuesday, whilst my friends and their family took advantage of the Wednesday to Wednesday package. I stayed in a local BnB for Wednesday and Thursday night, before joining my friends, and Tui Suneo were so accommodating. You can easily gain a day pass or simply pay for your drinks as you like. From Friday...I felt like royalty! The reception staff are so friendly and knew my circumstances and made sure I could book in early, also to get to the wedding we were there for. I was already in the area, but the hotel have a shuttle service to and from the hotel and you do not need to hire any car. When you arrive, your room is well spaced, luxurious and you have all a TV, living area and bedroom and huge bathroom. I even had 2 balconies overlooking different areas of the hotel. We had the best housekeeping who were promptly at our room every morning at 10:30 with a smile on their face and fresh towels. We spent a majority of our time around the pool and the bar staff are amazing and Yiannis (John) at the bar is so welcoming, friendly and just knew what we wanted to drink. His Bloody-Mary's are out of this world and I still miss them. The all you can eat buffet was different for every meal and my all time favourite was the Mexican night! The staff are so quick to clear your plates and must have sore cheeks they were constantly smiling and happy. The restaurant manager is unbelievable and I was excited to see his happy welcoming grin every time we went to eat. I do not have children, but that did not stop us from getting involved in the nightly disco, water polo in the pool in the afternoon and we even had a quiz night! This village offers something for everyone and so close to a small local town and beach! We wanted for nothing, we were so well looked after and this is by far my new favourite destination. I really do wish to come back. I highly recommend this as a go to holiday spot! Book now, you will not regret it!

Beautiful and clean environment in the hotel area with all the plants and nice buildings plus pool areas. The restaurant was amazing and food too. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Air-conditioning in the room was a must. Very happy about the whole experience!

We spent a fantastic 2 weeks here in June. The hotel is immaculate, and the staff work tirelessly to keep it clean. Our room was cleaned daily, and the public areas were cleaned every morning, and the restaurant cleaned in between sittings. All the staff were very happy and welcoming... nothing too much trouble. The choice of food was vast, with plenty of options available at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The food was well prepared and even the fussiest of eaters would be able to find something to eat. There are 3 pools and a kids pool, plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas. We never had to fight over sunbeds as there were always some available. Overall, the hotel couldn't do too much more to make it better but I do have a couple of negative / constructive comments. 1. The bar area allows smoking so if you are a non smoker, expect to have to inhale everyone else's smoke whilst you have an evening drink. The only places you can't smoke are the indoor sections of the restaurant. 2 there really isn't enough seating available for the evening. Quite a few people ended up sitting on sunbeds at night due to lack of chairs and tables.

Amazing hotel clean and friendly. My son really enjoyed the entertainment team juste and peter really stood out to us, extremely friendly and loved the interactive games/quizes. The hotel had enough to do, food was great only complaint would be the chairs in the restaurant are hard to move around the floor but that would be if im being extremely picky. Would defo revisit:)

The Althea Suneo Village hotel is the BEST if you want a luxury family holiday ❤️ We have smaller children and will be back EVERY YEAR from now on 🙌✈️ The service is the best ever and the children LOVED it. The hotel is pure luxury for your family!

Stayed at the Althea Village in May 2024. Had upgraded room to Delux Double but when we arrived we had been given Room 200 which was a 1 bedroom apartment for 4 people which was really nice, had two small balconies and was really well positioned for everything. The furniture was a little old fashioned but adequate, lots of space for clothes etc., the bathroom was enormous, the air conditioning worked great and we overlooked the quiet pool. The room was cleaned to a reasonable standard and we were very comfortable for 2 weeks. The hotel is lovely, the village feel continues throughout the whole complex with lovely gardens, beautifully kept grounds, lots of "nooks and crannies" so it never felt crowded. The different levels made it interesting and everything was close at hand. The restaurant was lovely being able to eat inside or out, the food was excellent, very varied, always found something to eat, quality was pretty good and there was always lovely vegetables to chose from. The restaurant manager and staff were superb, really friendly and they kept the area very clean and we never sat down at a dirty table. The Souvlaki/Pitta bar was really good, you got Giros, Sandwiches, Chips, Salads, Fruit, Chicken Nuggets etc., from here, we did this a few times at lunchtime instead of going into the main restaurant and it was lovely. The pool areas were kept immaculately clean and tidy. Pool towels are free for the whole of your stay and can be changed anytime. We never, in two weeks, struggled to get a sunbed and brolly even when we'd been out for the morning and came back at lunchtime, we were still able to choose where we sat. Nobody, whilst we were there, were reserving beds which made a lovely change. The beach was a good 15 minutes walk although we are pool people so only went a couple of times. Although we are not bothered for evening entertainment, other than doing a kids disco at 8pm every night, this is almost none existent!! In 14 days, we had a 3 piece group and greek dancing on the same night each week. The other 10 nights were bingo, quiz or karaoke carried out by the animation team, who I have to say were not very enthusiastic, so if entertainment is a big thing for you, you will be disappointed. The biggest let down for us were the all inclusive drinks. I know it stipulates local drinks only, but unless you drink gin, vodka, rum, bacardi, whiskey or brandy, you will be disappointed. The cocktails are premade out of a machine and are very weak and tasteless. If you were prepared to pay, you could get anything......I even had to pay for a martini which is the one of the cheapest drinks on the market!!!! They appear not to have many local equivalent spirits so be prepared to pay. The only saving grace was that beer, wine, soft drinks and hot drinks were available to help yourself to all day and up to 11pm in the evening. All in all, we had a lovely holiday. Tui Suneo Althea Village is a lovely hotel, with modern infrastructure without losing any of the Greek authenticity. The buildings are covered and surrounded by beautiful flowers. Buffet was smaller in size as we are used to in Greece, but had everything we could wish for and there were always sunbeds available at the pool. Staff is very friendly, ready to cater to your every need. The room was spacious, with high wooden ceilings. Beach is closeby (walking distance).We took the bus to Chania city (ticket only 1.20 euro) and enjoyed the centre with small shops and restaurants.

The hotel and buildings and the setting is beautiful, with lots of lovely flowers and plants that really make the environment even more beautiful and perfect. The relaxed modern/luxury style of the hotel was perfect and really lives up to the hotels 4 star rating. The room we stayed in was lovely, with two balconies covered in bougainvillea which is absolutely gorgeous. The only issue we faced with the rooms was the spiders (a huge fear for my partner and I) ! But that is ultimately not the hotels fault just something to be mindful of. It was a little disappointing that the TVs in our room were not connected to the wifi so we couldn’t make use of the netflix etc on there, and found it hard to navigate to change the settings and language to english - but honestly not a big deal at all. Also, the wifi did not reach our room, but was very good throughout the hotel around the pool and restaurant etc. The pools were nice, although sometimes the water was a little too cold but we visited at the start of the summer season so may be nicer in hotter weather. The entertainment was honestly a bit disappointing, although it was mainly aimed towards children (which we do not have) which is understandable as it is a family resort - many of them did not seem interested and seemingly could not be bothered. We stayed for a week, so we saw two entertainment nights where a band came in and there was traditional greek dancing which was lovely and what we were looking for - maybe a suggestion would be to have more entertainment like that! The restaurant was good, although a bigger area for the buffet would make it less busy and claustrophobic - some nights there were queues to get in for dinner as there wasn’t enough seating. The staff in the restaurant were amazing and deserve the thanks and respect they may not rightfully receive. The same goes for the bar staff, who made an amazing strawberry daiquiri!! (There is all inclusive cocktails and a cocktail menu for a price). We thought that the restaurant manager was rude, especially since he pushed past us often and did not apologise once, and created a tense atmosphere amongst the staff who seemed to fear him - something we noticed as we also work in hospitality. Although we have no complaints of the food itself as we found it delicious - As a lactose intolerant vegetarian, although there was often options, many of them involved cheese. There was vegan options but they seemed to stay the same throughout the week - grilled vegetables, salads and plain pasta/spaghetti/rice. There was also no alternative milk available at any meal, something i would have been grateful for. This may have been my fault as i did not feel comfortable in asking if any was available - but the bare minimum now days should be to provide at least one milk alternative. Aside from this, my favourite as the dessert as there was an abundance of vegetarian/vegan options that were amazing especially the traditional greek desserts! There was
