Sleeping Buddha, a resort located at a tranquil, secluded place in Rishop where you can enjoy the peace and breath fresh air . I with my wife and son went for couple of nights to get away from city life's hassle and maddening crowd in February which is not actually a good time to get a breathtaking view of Mount kanchenjunga but that was not on our checklist too. But if you visit in summer or in spring you should be able to see right from your hotel room. We also had a little trek upto Tififn Dara from where you can get a 360 view of the mountain ranges; unfortunately we could not due to bad weather but the trek was worth while. Now for the hotel room or facilities let me tell you about the room we were in (Family Room No. 8). It was huge.. humongous with 2 queen beds, a dinning table, a center table at the corner, a Television and a spacious bathroom with adequate accessories. You will also get complimentary slippers, a pair of toiletries, welcome snack basket and the bathroom had geyser which is a must in winter and this time of the year as well. Now I have only given 3 star for the room as I felt some must to have facilities were missing specially when I spent over 7K per night for the room. For the starter it did not have a room heater which is not at all expected instead they had heating mattresses which you can operate but that's not good enough as you should not expect the guests to be on bed all the time. Secondly there was no power backup, we had a power cut during our stay for more than 6 hours but luckily it was at the bed time, so we didn't face much of a challenge. But imagine yourselves in winter or even in spring with no room heater and no power(mattresses will not heat as well, though they had adequate blankets), no hot water, how would you feel? Lastly with the kind of money I spent on this room , I would expect a mini fridger in the room but that's not something absolutely necessary but would have been nice to have. Now last but no way the least, the service and the stuff. I could have given more than 5 stars if I had the opportunity. They are simply out of the world. I have been travelling for so long and to so many places, and honestly these people stand out anytime. Starting with Mr. Subrata, the Supervisor, a soft spoken gentleman makes sure of all the guest's demand are met and taken care of. He also had surprised me with a little treat on my Birthday during our stay which I appreciate a lot. Then I must talk about Sushil a hotel staff who always serves you with a wide smile in his face and again very soft spoken and well mannered. Lastly I cannot complete the review without talking about the food and the cook , hotel staffs call him Master (I forgot his name). He is a genius I must say, whatever he cooked for us was mouthwatering and delicious from simple rice - daal to fried rice/chilly chicken, aloo paratha ( it was the best I have ever had in my life). Hotel serves complimentary breakfast which we found overwhelming and
