Personally, I am extremely disappointed with the owner's culture. Due to a difficult family situation, I had to cancel my stay, I wrote to the owner to change the date, they offered me a shorter stay or an additional fee for another room of 186.00 euros per night. I wrote a message to the owner 5 days before arrival, so there was time to sell the room, I asked him to cancel my reservation without incurring any costs, the owner did not reply to my request, so I contacted booking and received a message that I would be charged the costs. It is very sad that in today's world a person cannot be humane to another in a difficult situation. Iwona

We was very disappointed with our stay in desenzano for our honeymoon. We stayed in malchesine for 3 nights and venice for 3 nights. And to end our trip decided to stay here as it was close to a lakefront for swimming. We thought we had safely researched everything down to having to pay for chairs and umbrellas which was fine. On arrival we checked in early which was great. Our room was one of the more dated ones on the first floor. With wallpaper pealing back in places and only one pillow each. But that was OK as we are not very fussy. What we found very disappointing was the bar next door with ridiculously loud music every night. On 2 nights they had a dj which was so loud we struggled to sleep even with the shutters closed. Staff was friendly but the air con broke for 2 nights and toke to long to fix. Was 35 degrees outside felt hotter in the room at times. Breakfast was OK as long as you got down early, wasn't replenished enough. If you came down for 9.30 not alot left. Road was very busy and alot of police everywhere which wasn't the case on the rest of our trip in other hotels. We tried to find somewhere else to.stay but sadly was to late. So we decided to try to sleep there and head into other parts of the lake like sirmione and day trips into verona. I've never left a bad review for anything before. But felt very let down by the noise of the lido bar which was meant to finish at 12am but some nights went on alot longer which left us unable to enjoy the balcony we paid for in peace! We stayed in a 2 star hotel in malchesine which was by far better then this hotel ( which is meant to be 3 star) with a nice balcony and ratten furniture to relax and enjoy the views. We was so disappointed by this honestly they shoukd make it clear there is loud music throughout the night with alot of people abit worse for wear by the end of.the night. As this suits some but not us. We planned on bringing the children next year as gardaland etc is close by. Only positive is I now know not to. If you want nightlife it's perfect for you. If not give it a miss. Much better parts if desenzano to stay in

A lovely small hotel with a view of the lake. The breakfast was excellent quality and choice, every sweet treat you can think of, brioche with either marmalade, chocolate or crème filling were delicious, fruit, yoghurt, croissants, different choice of bread/toast, hot options of scrambled egg, small sausages and crispy bacon, fresh ham and a few cheese options. Coffee of your choice was brought to the table and fresh juice as well. The lovely woman who helped with breakfast was always on hand and even made us fresh omelettes when it was quieter. The staff were all friendly, welcoming and helpful. The room was small but adequate for a couple, with a good shower with detachable head and good pressure. The bed was very comfortable with good pillows. We didn’t use the air con as it wasn’t so warm and any noise from outside can be easily shut out by closing the windows (but it wasn’t that noisy). Easy walking distance to the bus, ferry or trains and it looked to be a good spot for swimming when warmer.

We have holidayed many years around Lake Garda so know the area well. We booked this hotel wanting to stay in Desenzano which is a beautiful town, with good train & bus access. We flew into Bergamo, got bus & train to Desenzano & taxi to hotel €10, a 5 min journey. Well what can I say about the hotel, other than it was fantastic & exceeded all our expectations. The location is fantastic, a leisurely 5-10 minute walk & you’re in centre of the town, with restaurants & cafes from the minute you exit the hotel along the route, or you can walk along the lakeside. The hotel sits on the roadside overlooking the lake. We booked a seaview balcony room. It was modern, simple, spotlessly clean, a really comfortable bed & excellent aircon. There is a rooftop sun terrace with amazing views. Breakfast was buffet & really good. Staff were lovely & really helpful. Would we stay here again - 100%!!!

What a really nice family run hotel this was, excellently located on the edge of town (or city as they call it) with the staff speaking English a real bonus. We had a good air conditioned room with a great view of Lake Garda, something we’d recommend you should ask for / book, as this really is the hotels USP. They offer an excellent breakfast range, but don’t do evening meals which works really well as there are so many restaurants within VERY easy strolling from the hotel and compared to restaurants in the UK we’d consider those great value. The Lake is directly opposite the hotel, and has a small “pebble” beach to easily swim from should you wish. To reach the hotel we had flown in to Verona airport, and it was a €79 taxi ride to the hotel.

Less than 10 minutes from the station by taxi, the hotel is centrally located and right on the lakeside with great views from the pavement terrace. Staff were friendly, helpful and cheerful (our receptionist was particularly helpful but we did not get her name). All staff (and everyone else we met) made an effort to speak English if necessary). Our en-suite accommodation was simple but clean, comfortable and adequate with good ac. Breakfast was lovely, especially sitting on the terrace overlooking Lake Garda (although the coffee was not as good as elsewhere). Tea, aperitifs and drinks were very reasonably priced. Dinners were not an option (which is sensible considering the range of restaurants, cafes and enoteccas on the doorstep). Other guests moving about at night and in the morning were a bit noisy and the Lido cafe next door was the same but cannot be heard from rooms inside the hotel. From the Riviera it is a matter of minutes to all local amenities: restaurants, cafes, shops, cruise boats, cycle hire, castle, Roman villa, supermarkets, laundromat… For a three star hotel we highly recommend The Riviera Hotel and it’s lovely staff.

Great hotel! It exceeded our expectations when we arrived as it had been refurbished since the photos on the website! Room was cleaned spotlessly each day and had an amazing lake view! All the hotel staff from the receptionist to cleaners are very friendly and helpful! I’d def recommend staying here the location is perfect for walking around 5mins into the centre! It had a beach opposite that you can either rent a sunbed for the day or take a towel for free! Great selection for breakfast also!

Having just spent 5 days in a really nice hotel in Bologna, the contrast is noticeable. Tiny room, small bathroom, no bath. Two single beds shoved together, not a double. Hard beds, hard pillows. No tea and coffee making in the room - really miss that in the morning. You can't even go down to breakfast and grab your own tea and coffee. No fridge in the room, in this heat ! Having to make do with buckets of cold water to keep drinks cool. Tiny balcony with hard metal chairs without cushions. Breakfast buffet reasonable, but leathery "bacon" best avoided. What it does have is a fabulous location, right on the lake. Lake-view balcony too. Just a shame that the place next door 'Lido 39' plays such dreadful "music" (??) all afternoon/evening, meaning we keep the balcony closed when in the room, instead of listening to the gentle lake tide. Oh, and the almost constant revving of motorbikes going by does become tiresome. We're still here a few more days yet, but it's not a patch on the place we were at in Bologna (the Royal Carlton). Staff are friendly here, but you do wonder why a tiny reception has so many staff standing around all day doing apparently nothing. Guess it's not their fault.
