Gwango Elephant Lodge

We had a wonderful stay. The personnel was extraordinary welcoming and made sure we hd everything we needed! Our guide was well educated about the animals and it was a great pleasure doing a Safari with her! The rooms were simple but beautifuly decorated, perfectly clean with comfortable beds! Definitely would love to come again!

Gwango is stunning. The place has been hugely upgraded and looks a amazing. The rooms are beautiful and very comfortable. The service we received was wonderful and I would definitely use the lodge again.

I arrived late afternoon. I was welcomed with friendly smiles and very professional booking in. Room was very nice, clean and comfortable. Had bit of problem with no hot water. I had dinner and breakfast. Meals were delicious, well prepared. Overall a very good stop over and good price. Will recommend this place highly.

A lovely camp with good ablutions. The perfect place to spend the night on the way too or from Hwange National Park. Great employees and nice to have someone come and start the fire for you whilst you set up camp! And the price is right as well. Highly recommended.

This property is run by a young very enthusiastic team, and we felt we were at a very special place. Some features of the site are still being developed but already it's a great place to visit. The rooms are rustic but well-designed, and the quietness and feeling close to nature make the stay very pleasant. A highlight is the platform and pool from which one can observe a herd of elephants literally metres away when they visit the nearby watering hole (of course, this cannot be guaranteed, but we were treated to two visits during our three-night stay). Solomon was a very knowledgeable guide for our sunrise safari, which gave us confidence to try a self-drive safari the next day. The accommodation is very close to the gates of the Hwange NP so an ideal starting point - many animals can also be seen on the estate itself (although we did not try the estate-based safari because of lack of time).

The twin room was spacious and came with mosquito nets. The staff are lovely and informative especially Fortune, Mduduzi and Omega. The excursions are reasonably priced and range from $35 upwards. The place is beautifully laid out and you can see elephants whilst you eat and baboons around you. The areas of work are the limited options of food and the rigidity of not being able to change something. Example adding an egg to a veg wrap ( which was chickpeas, raw onions and dry bread) Be warned the wifi only works in some parts of the Lodge and not in the rooms. I asked if I could go to the nearest supermarket as the manager said they don't serve fruit unless grown on grounds. Also i needed some for a dodgy stomach. But i was initially told unless my friend comes (who didn't need to g) l couldn’t go as it was $10 return and a minimum of 2 people. Only after me saying that was unfair i was permitted to go. Overall the lodge is a good place a variation of excursions and mostly warm staff. We saw animals up close on the safari in the park and their grounds. And the lodge was very helpful in helping us find our way to them via the coach. Would i go again? Yes just needs variety with food and not be so rigid in certain instances

The staff were exceptionally welcoming and helpful evening out of their way to organise a fire for a braai for us for a special occasion celebration. The accommodation too was extremely comfortable. We look forward to their the pending self catering facilities.

We had such a lovely time staying at the Elephant Lodge. The food was fabulous, the crocodile was a highlight - thank you, Chef! All the staff are so friendly, Elisabeth has really created a beautiful oasis. Marco was a lovely and knowledgeable guide. The lions were amazing. The elephants! Incredible. Would definitely stay again.
