I was excited to stay at The Sonder in Detroit, especially after hearing great things from a friend who had stayed at a Sonder property in Philadelphia. Unfortunately, my experience was quite disappointing. Upon arrival, the apartment looked like it had once been very nice, but it was clear that proper upkeep had not been a priority. For example, the bathroom was in desperate need of attention. The soap dish was worn out and should have been replaced long ago. The toilet paper situation was equally frustrating—struggling with 1-ply toilet paper that fell into the toilet as I was trying to unwrap it was bad enough, but discovering that the other roll stored under the sink had absorbed moisture from the dirty, damp shelf made it unusable. I called customer service and was informed that there was an essentials closet with extra supplies, including toilet paper, but because it was late at night, the code to access the closet had been disabled. They promised to submit a request for a new roll the next morning, which was completely unacceptable. To make matters worse, when I reached out the following day to inquire about storing my luggage for a few hours after checkout, I was misled once again. The website indicated there were lockers for this purpose, and the customer service rep confirmed this and directed me to them. However, when I asked the front desk staff, they informed me that no lockers existed and suggested storing my luggage in the essentials closet, which all guests could access. That didn’t feel secure at all, and they admitted it wasn’t. Ultimately, I ended up storing my bags at a nearby hotel. While the location was fantastic, the lack of on-site staff and the poorly maintained property were deal breakers. There are far better options in the area with staff that can provide immediate assistance. Based on this experience, I will never stay at a Sonder property again - I would prefer a traditional hotel.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! VERY UNSAFE AREA WITH NO SECURITY NO FRONT DESK AND MANY LOITERERS OUTSIDE WAITING TO ENTER AS YOU TRY TO ENTER. FEARED OUR SAFETY. COMPANY IS UNAWARE OF THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY ARE BASED IN ANOTHER CITY. NOOONE FROM THIS LOCATION IS ON SITE. DO NOT RECOMMEND. ROOM IS NOT CLEAN. STAINS AND SIGNS OF PAST GUESTS EVERYWHERE. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!

This hotel provided a great stay for an amazingly low price. We had a very nicely appointed suite with a kitchen and king bed. Nothing fancy but completely adequate. Located in the historic downtown area, we could walk to almost everything.

Had a great stay here recently for a weekend getaway. Great location within walking distance to all sports venues, casinos and restaurants. There is a people mover pick up drop off next door which was very convenient and it's free for 2024. Our room was on the second floor and had a great view of the city. We did hear some noise from the traffic but it didn't bother us. The room was spacious and had everything we needed. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean and the shower had lots of hot water and good pressure. We will stay here again.

Lots of Room, very clean and spacious. Nice having an entire condo. Only downside was the parking (Covered garage) was several blocks away and it was raining, might not mind so much in Summer. There is an open air lot right across the street, but than again it's downtown Detroit - so safer option is to walk the few blocks to the covered lot with Security.

Visited for a weekend of basketball. We enjoyed it. Awesome location and experience for the cost. I’d recommend this as potential lodging for anyone visiting Detroit in the future. We also plan to search for one in our next city we’re traveling to.

Centrally located, great studio apartment, recently renovated and comfortable. Kitchen had everything I needed and more, and I enjoyed the 10-cup pot and quality coffee in the morning. Highly recommend especially for longer stays. You can grab some groceries and spend some nights relaxing in your room. Like an AirBNB without the hassle and fees.

This was the trendiest little apartment complete with a full kitchen and a washer and dryer. There was plenty of space for all of our things. Stayed in a 2 bedroom that had a wonderful view of downtown Detroit. Originally booked because of price and proximity to event venue but now have looked for other Sonder locations in various other place I will be traveling to for work. Only downside I can think of was not enough hangers and no broom or vacuum for those of us who don’t want housekeeping but like to walk around barefoot.
