Villa Augustus

The hotel is quirky due to the buildings its in and what they used to be. We had a top floor room in the tower so had fantastic views of the river and gardens. Big room, very clean, comfortable bed. Its industrial looking as in the old water tower and the renovation keeps its industrial heritage. If you only like shiny, sparkly new hotels, this is not it for you but we loved the feel of the place. Quirky and fun without being silly. Reception staff excellent. Gardens fantastic. Easy parking. 20 minute walk into centre of town. Breakfast good.

This is a very interesting hotel with several room options. The rooms in the tower are spacious and have wonderful views over the gardens and the water. Some have small balconies. The garden rooms have a small private patio area although internet coverage isn't too good. The restaurant in the adjacent building serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The various gardens surrounding the hotel are wonderful and include a formal garden, a flower garden and a vegetable garden. The staff at the hotel and restaurant are very friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to accommodate special requests. Some of the staff are conversant in English which is helpful. The main drawback is its location which requires a taxi ride to the city center although there is parking for those who have a car.

I went to the Villa Augustus hotel because I had to spend the night in the area for some business, and the building looked nice and vintage. The the rooms looked cozy and unique too. To say that this hotel is a hidden gem would be an understatement. The garden when you get in is absolutely incredible, with a front door area which grown farm vegetables and the rear that looks from a French Royal castle garden. And once you get in the surprises do not stop and the crew is super helpful and nice and the room ? what can I say, The building is super cool, and was a water tower that was reconditioned into a hotel, so the tower rooms are unique both in configuration, beauty , glamour and in having some steep stairs to get to the bathroom. The room has the nice industrial look complete bathroom under the main room but with some steep stairs. No problem for me but something to be taken into configuration. The Restaurant Augustus was very good too with super tasty Italian dishes and nice beer. The breakfast was either buffet or a la carte and the small breakfast at only 10 euros was nice and affordable. I do not need more to start the day. Overall a fantastic experince that i will repeat, 100% sure.

I have stayed at Villa Augustus several times and absolutely LOVE it. It's my "go to" accommodation (in my opinion, it's so much more than just accommodation) when visiting Dordrecht. The staff are lovely too. Everything about it feeds the senses...from the abundant floral arrangements, design, quirky decorations, bed linens, gardens and outdoor areas ...to the wonderful breakfasts and delicious fresh food available all day through to dinner. It's located by the water, slightly away from the main town but is an easy walk to anywhere interesting, cultural, fun or food based. Villa Augustus is a peaceful place but also has the good buzz energy of an establishment well frequented by locals and visitors alike. I can't wait to go back again!

Chanced upon here but very glad we did. Stylish and quirky organic garden, nice quiet rooms, great food in the restaurant and shop. An ideal stop to explore the region by bike or on foot and a good stop if travelling back to ferry. Would definatey stay again. Parking available on site.

"Horrorfilm-chic met een bijgerecht van frustratie" Ik weet niet zeker of Villa Augustus een hotel is, een kunstproject, of de zolder van mijn overleden oma waar ik ooit per ongeluk opgesloten raakte, maar wat het ook is, het was een ervaring. De kamer? Een zorgvuldig bij elkaar geraapt zooitje van schroothoopspullen, inclusief schilderijen van bosjes bloemen die me deden twijfelen aan mijn perceptie van schoonheid. De tv, ter grootte van een iPad (waarschijnlijk een originele uit 2010), was verstopt achter een gordijn, alsof ze zich ervoor schaamden. Begrijpelijk. De sfeer was... donker. Niet "gezellig schemerig," maar meer "ik hoop dat ik hier levend uitkom." Een van de piepkleine raampjes sloot niet goed, wat zorgde voor een ijzige tocht en een verwarming die daar protesterend over gromde als een oude stoomtrein. Het restaurant leek een lichtpuntje te worden: het eten was heerlijk, al waren de porties zo klein dat ik begon te overwegen een extra broodmandje te bestellen om te overleven. Helaas was er geen tafel vrij, dus werd ik naar de lectuurbar gestuurd om te dineren. Daar zat ik dan, te wachten op een drankje of menukaart. Na 25 minuten besloot ik zelf actie te ondernemen, want kennelijk was ik onzichtbaar geworden. Toen ik vroeg of ik zelf moest bestellen of dat er een geheim codewoord was, kreeg ik een norse "we komen zo bij u." Excuses? Nee hoor, niet nodig in dit hoofdstuk van mijn horrorfilm. Kortom: als je houdt van duistere interieurs, bloemenkunst met een vleugje wanhoop, en de spanning van een maaltijd die voelt als een escape room, dan is Villa Augustus jouw plek. Ik? Ik slaap vannacht liever op de parkeerplaats.
