I mentioned we were celebrating our anniversary and they put rose petals and gave us treats to welcome us in our room. Everyone at the St Regis is super nice - butler, room service, staff to carry bags except for the front desk (check in staff). They were just noticeably less friendly - the male staff who checked us in didn’t really welcome us with a nice greeting/smile and didn’t explain the amenities at all. We stayed there for 4 nights so kind of expected a warmer welcome and introduction. He also struggled to give me a receipt because the machine was out of paper and then asked me if I wanted a receipt which I said yes to politely, but he didn’t put any effort to really try again so I didn’t get a receipt in the end for the deposit. There were 2 girls who helped me exchange some cash at the front - they directed me to the ATM at first, but that didn’t work as I don’t have a local bank, so I came back asking for a favour to take out 300AED. They were just a bit judgemental looking and made me explain that I tried a few times and it didn’t work, didn’t greet me, nor was sympathetic when I told them that we are dealing with a complicated Uber driver…. Everything else was amazing especially the nice gesture of a late checkout on our last day! Please just train your front desk staff more as they make the first and last impression.
