The Byron

We stayed at the Byron last week of April and thoroughly enjoyed the place. Excellent, quiet location right in the middle of Old Town. The owners have done an outstanding job furnishing it giving it a very homely feeling. We also met the owners Mr and Mrs Clive, a very fine couple, who came across as very keen to get customer feedback and enhance service experience. Hands down, we would recommend this property to anyone who wants to have a super comfortable stay and enjoy the beautiful town of Dubrovnik. We loved it.

Staying at The Byron quite simply is the best choice in The old town of Dubrovnik. Communication from Jon beforehand then arriving at the store KAWA and being escorted through the town while he pointed out things of interest was a huge plus. From the moment you walk through the incredible old front door and walk up the stairways you feel like you are entering somewhere special, beautiful beams, whitewashed walls, music playing very softly in the background… I was elated that I had stumbled across it while searching for somewhere to stay. I was in the Cathedral room, It felt like I had my own apar**ent. Very spacious room, huge French bed and furniture with a cute table and two chairs under the window made you want to sit peacefully before venturing out for the day. An incredible hand made unit which concealed a fridge, sink and cooking facilities, not forgetting the beautifully tiled and designed bathroom with Molton Brown toiletries completed the stay. There is no ‘hotel reception’ however you have Jon’s number should you need anything and it only added to my experience that I felt I owned such an amazing place right in the middle of Dubrovnik. The location is minutes away from the bars, restaurants and harbour. The plus for me staying here was being able to walk 40 seconds outside to a secret hole in the city wall onto platforms from which you can swim. Beach towels were available in the rooms. Dubrovnik was beautiful. Walking the walls is a must! There was a bar half way along with an incredible view to sit and contemplate life which was fabulous just before the sun dropped. Breakfast overlooking the water at Gradska Kavana ****nal was a delight and so reasonable. Great vegetarian food at Soul Kitchen, a 35 minute walk to a quiet secret beach Sveti Jakov with views of the old town and rounded off by watching the sunset first at the fortress and then on the platforms at Buza bar all make me want to return and for longer… The Byron would without doubt be my first choice of places to stay.

We an awesome experience at The Byron in Dubrovnik. What a lovely place to stay in the heart of it all. Well designed, decorated, and extremely chic! Great job on the design of this lovely space. Highly Recommend.

This has to be one of the best places to stay in The old town Dubrovnik. I came with a friend for a long weekend and we stayed in The Cathedral & Garden room. From the moment you walk through the front door and walk up the stairways you feel like you are entering somewhere special and it wasn't a disappoin**ent. The beautiful building has been tastefully decorated with quirky artwork in the piano room and elegant but homely furniture throughout. Beautiful beams and whitewashed walls add a rustic charm to the rooms . Thoughtful consideration has been given to the design as each bedroom has enough room for the cleverly concealed kitchen and an eating area without compromising the very spacious rooms. The beds are huge with quality bedding and very comfortable. The bathrooms are well appointed and the toiletries provided were perfect as we had only travelled with hand luggage which limited what we brought with us. The location is minutes away from the bars, restaurants and harbour. Our hosts kindly arranged for transport from the airport and a lovely lady from Kawa ( a coffee bar and artisan shop also run by our hosts) walked us through the old town to The Byron ensuring we were comfortable and explained how all the mod cons worked. Jon our host kept us updated before our trip with some great information via email which was very much appreciated. If you do visit The Byron take your time to read a framed picture in the hallway. This is "Nelly's Trust" have a look at their website and see the wonderful work that is being done to help stray cats in Dubrovnik and Bol on the island of Brac. Finally we recommend booking a kayaking trip. The views of the old town from the water are amazing and the guides are very entertaining. It's a great way to have some fun and work out at the same time ;)

We have just returned from a really magical stay in the stunning walled city of Dubrovnik.Well, what a place! I always choose city break hotels very meticulously and I knew from the friendly pre - arrival emails that this was my sort of place. The hotel arranged the transfer to their Kawa shop at the Ploce Gate.We were offered chilled water and coffee and the most lovely introduction to the city by Leona...thank you! We did all 3 of your top tips!..then were personally taken to our accommodation by Christy with a beautiful chilled bottle of wine in hand to toast our arrival. Our room, Garden, was just beautiful: a cool, elegant retreat from the heat and bustle of the city. It's fabulously located, I mean it really is, you can just pop back whenever you want to and it's close to all the beautiful attractions of the city.The lovely fusion restaurant Azur is just a few steps up the street and the fabulous Bard bar on the rocks through the wall is fantastic for a swim and that all important sundowner. We met Jon and Sanja, the other 2 hosts while we were there and ,like Christy and Leona, they were absolutely charming and had such passion for the city and so many recommendations! If you are wanting an amazing location,stylish surroundings and a lovely and genuine team to look after you then you really need to come here! Thank you for making our stay so lovely.

We spent a very belated honeymoon at The Byron and it was worth the wait! From the warm welcome (coffee on arrival) to a personal guided tour en route to the hotel, a chilled bottle of wine and an immaculate room with everything we could ask for, it was just perfect. It's a two minute walk to the Buza Bar to swim - early each morning - and a short walk away from the centre to get away from the crowds. We were given fantastic recommendations of places to eat and drink - Azur and M'Arden exceptional - and do not miss the chance to go to Bowa if paradise is on your wishlist!

Thanks to Jon Sanja and Cristy our stay in The Byron was wonderful. The service and help we received was outstanding. We had the loft room which we knew would be small, but it was perfectly appointed. The Byron is positioned with easy access and only has a few stairs to the front door, which in Dubrovnik is ideal. Looking forward to coming back and trying the other rooms.

A wonderfully elegent accomodation right in the heart of what makes Dubrovnik such a beautiful destination. I use google maps to find everything from sights to restaurants, everything was a 2-4 minute walk. The view of old town out of the window was wonderful.

We stayed for 4 nights in June 2023 and luckily got upgraded to the Cathedral room. It was spacious, airy, bright and had a small kitchenette and most importantly a view to the Cathedral! The room is very thoughtfully designed with all the amenities and well decorated. I especially loved the shower! Byron is located close to all the main attractions in the old city area and we had a wonderful stay. We arrived late in the evening and Jon was super helpful to give us a lay of the land, help us with a heavy suitcase (and carry it up the stairs) and made us feel comfortable right away. He gave us lot of pointers and tips on what to do that came very handy. We would highly recommend staying here! Its a gem of a place in old town Dubrovnik!
