We stayed here for 1 night whilst walking the South West coast path and have to say that the food was excellent - really tasty! However although the room was comfortable - it seemed to be above some very loud rap/street music of some sort so we went to investigate as we initially thought it was from the pub downstairs - however we deduced that we must have been above the kitchen! Later that night after our meal we retired to the room and the music had been turned down a bit but we could hear the chefs shouting to each other and the language was not the best!! We did mention this to the staff member at breakfast and he apologised - however this could have been a much better experience. Probably wouldn’t stay again if we are honest!

The Kings Arms has been a popular venue for many years. I have stayed there on numerous occasions and celebrated many events. The staff used to be very friendly and professional, the accommodation comfortable and the food delicious. So with all that in mind my relative and I were extremely disappointed with the food served to us the other day and the attitude of some of the staff. It was not the quality food we were expecting based on past experience. Sadly, we were not the only people unhappy with how the Kings Arms has deteriorated recently. Their reputation has plummeted when we spoke to other people. However, with training in effective customer engagement creating a warm atmosphere and a more diverse fresh food menu without loads of batter the pub would bounce back to the lovely welcoming pub it once was.

Came here for dinner while staying nearby. The manager was friendly but the rest of the staff didn’t seem to care. We ordered 2 fish and chips, one with mushy peas and one with garden peas and a chicken melt. The ‘mushy peas’ were crushed garden peas, the fish and chips were fine but the chicken melt had obviously been pre cooked and then microwaved for too long. It was dry and overcooked and no sign of any cheese. When we were paying the bill we were asked if everything was ok, we said that the chicken was dry and overcooked, the member of staffed just looked at me and made no comment, to which I replied - well you did ask! Was not worth the money and will not be returning.

Stayed here for 2 nights rooms. Lovely bed, very comfortable. Excellent value for money a big. A big thank you to all the staff and landlord for making our stay enjoyable. A very friendly welcoming pub. A big call up to Amber who could not do enough for us, nothing was too much trouble no complaints at all.

The room was large and had generous and nice bathroom and shower. TV was small and inflexibly mounted on the wall. Breakfast in the morning had plenty of options and cuppicino were a coffee option.

The food was delicious. Staff overall were really nice the downside was that the hygiene of the staff was very poor dirty hands smelt like smoke just lack of hygiene overall for majority of members really let the food down. Everything else was really nice .

Lovely area.
Hubby checked in and was inadvertently charged again, the manager did come to our room after noticing to rectify. Hubby asked him for help to fix the standard lamp as only this and 2 bedside lamps were in the room so making it hard to read. Nobody came to help.
We kept being woken by rodents scratching and loudly chewing behind the skirting board. Reported to the duty manager in the morning who thanked me for telling him but offered no apology.
Disappointing if I’m honest as not particularly cheap considering the overall condition of the property and cleanliness.
We use many hotels/B&Bs and on the rare occasion when there has been a problem, people have apologised demonstrating customer care is of paramount importance. Therefore I have not felt the need to add these kind of posts previously. But I’d suggest for such a lovely location some changes are needed. I hope this is helpful to the management.

The pub is in a idyllic setting in a traditional village setting. The accommodation was spacious with many of the amenities you'd expect in a B&B. The shower wasn't very powerful but maybe that's due to the age of the building and the bed would benefit from a mattress upgrade. However, this didn't take away from a wonderful stay overall. The service was fantastic and we were able to check in the room almost 2hrs early. The free continental breakfast was also a nice touch. Would definitely stay here again.
