Upon check in, we waited half an hour without anyone helping so decided to leave and come back. We were then contacted to say that the room was ready so we returned half hour later. We then were told to wait a few minutes for our room to be ready. This turned into a 2 hour wait as it was being photographed. On the first night, our room key card didn't work. We returned to reception, which was unmanned so had to phone the emergency mobile number for assistance. We explained the situation and were told to try a room card which was in a black box on the reception desk, behind red folders. This didn't work so were then told to try from another spare room card pile on the reception desk to no avail. Finally, were told to try a master room card which was underneath a plant pot in the hallway - this didn't work. After 30 minutes we still couldn't get into our room until I was told that someone from the door system company was arriving within 20 minutes to help, they arrived to let us in with a different card however, we received no apology. There was no hot water, the shower pipe was bursting, the bathroom was dirty on the floor in corners. We were left with half a used bottle of handwash and no spare toilet roll. I'm shocked and appalled that there are several sets of room cards unlocked behind an unmanned reception which would open Guest rooms, including the master key under the plant pot in the hallway. No one monitoring their CCTV either. We had to leave our key card with them to fix on the second day, upon return, were told this was available at reception which was still unmanned, left unattended and anyone could have gained access to our belongings whilst we were out. We saw no staff members at all during our stay and the hotel have refused to acknowledge any breaches of safety and security. Huge breach of GDPR and we will be reporting them to the ICO. Do not stay here unless you want your valuables under threat.
