The Haymarket Hotel

I booked the room for a solo travel and the amenities were really good. The room was sufficient for a single person and was cleanly maintained. The location of the hotel is awesome, near the rail station and close to the city centre. The receptionist were polite and helped with bag storage before check-in and after check-out untill your train. Overall, the experience of staying at the place was really good.

The hotel is clean and good location. But the wall is too thin, I can hear someone’s alarm and talking in my room! I was woken up by their noise a few times, that’s really annoying!

Hotel is actually a walk up apartment. So quit eold and squeaky floor. Parking a bit hard to find and not cheap using coin operated machine. Staff are friendly though.

The hotel is located in a quiet area close to the city center (it took us 30 minutes to walk with a child from the train station). There are many different restaurants and cafes nearby, and the transportation links are excellent, with a bus and tram stop literally a 2-minute walk away, as well as the Haymarket railway station. If you plan on traveling outside Edinburgh, this would be convenient for you. The hotel serves good breakfasts with a convenient serving time from 7:30-10:00, so you can always have breakfast in the morning and go for a walk. The Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art is a 15-minute walk from the hotel. We stayed in room 63, which was clean and warm (we stayed in February), and the room was regularly cleaned. As for the downsides, I can note the size of the room and bathroom. We booked a 25m2 room, but in reality, it did not correspond to the declared size and was very small, feeling no more than 12m2. This fact disappointed me. There are Tesco Express and restaurants nearby. The rooms are clean but quaint if you like nostalgic architecture. Servers are very polite.
