Simbavati River Lodge

Absolutely the best service my family and I have ever received. Everything from the transportation from the airport to the home cooked meals was a 10/10. We actually got to see so many animals just on the way from the airport to the lodge, and our driver allowed us to stop for pictures and gave us a lot of cool information. We did not know this when booking, but each room is assigned a butler who will cook, serve, and will educate you on the animals. Our butler was Bishop, and he was an absolute pleasure. He even made my mom a homemade birthday cake since her birthday was coming up. Food was amazing, you couldn’t go wrong with the choices. We didn’t get to use the pool because it was under construction during our stay. We stayed in one of the family huts (not one of the tents) and had all different animals coming up to our patio. One thing to note is that if you stay in one of the luxury tents, you are in a separate area that is not separated from the animals, so they can roam anywhere. If you have anxiety like me, this is probably not the best option as you never know what you’ll walk out to. If you stay in one of the family-style huts, you are fenced off from the animals, besides the patio which they don’t come onto anyway. I truly can’t stress enough how amazing our experience was at the River Lodge. Our game driver was very knowledgeable and taught us a lot. The only thing I would say to be prepared for is that you will get very close to the animals. I’m talking like less than an arms length. Personally that was not for me, but my parents loved it. Overall 12/10 experience.

Excellent service from everyone on the Simbavati team, nothing is asked too much, they go the extra mile to make you feel at home. Rangers Julian and Herbert did an incredible drive to enable us to see the most beautiful one of the big five, the leopard. Thank you all for the great hospitality !

Great place. I can't fault the lodge with anything. From the accommodation, the room, the friendly staff the list goes on! This is one of the best places I've ever visited. The Safari tours were amazing and the guides were knowledgeable. Shout out to Denis our tour guide for a memorable experience!

As a celebration we decided to we would go on Safari. We were recommended Simbavari River Lodge by our travel agent as being on of the best available. We were not disappointed! From our initial welcome to the lodge by the reception staff we knew we were in for a very special experience. The initial orientation was great. Our room was spacious and comfortable and only get marked down to very good due to an issue with the air conditioning - However, this was rectified exceptionally quickly so it could be considered harsh as a mark down. The highlight has to be the GAme drives, our guide Martin and the tracker Stiff were exceptional. Martins knowledge on a broad range of subject from geology, flora and fauna and broader topics such as the local customs gave us an incredibly rich experience. The ability of all the guides to locate and offer us close views of the animals was second to none. The other thing that really needs to be highlighted is the quality of the food and the attention to the smallest of details that all of the staff put in, it truly was impressive. The acid test to any holiday is whether or not you would consider going back and this is one of those few that are defiantly on the list of places we will go again. So overall there is no hesitation in thoroughly recommending Simabavati River Lodge.

A massive thank you to all the team at Simbavatti River Lodge for an incredible experience. We were looked after from the minute we arrived until the minute we left. Just a magical experience and far too many amazing animal moments to include here and a big big thank you to the boss lady Thandy who just made sure our whole stay was fantastic. Special mention to our guide, Dennis, and our tracker, Stuart, for the best game drives that just got better and better.
