Pros- Staff were friendly and helpful. New Manager joined the hotel 2 months ago and he is very hands on, helping out with whatever was needed. Our room was large and clean (floors swept and washed every day), the bed was comfortable, Aircon was excellent and shower was hot and powerful. Our towels were changed every day and we were even left extras on some days. Sheets were changed regularly. They provided little slippers in sealed bags in case you didn’t want to walk on the bare floor. The lock on the door also had a deadlock facility. Wi-Fi was excellent, I assume the nearer you are to the main building the better it is. There are safety deposit boxes, but they are not in the rooms. If you ask at reception they will provide you with a safety deposit box in a cabinet, in a side room which has two locks. You keep one key and the receptionist has the other, no payment is needed. Both keys are needed to open the boxes. Local spirits are available in the All Inclusive package besides beer and wine, you just have to ask them as it’s not advertised. The first 5 cocktails on their menu cards are also included in the All Inclusive package. Courtesy shuttle bus from Hotel to Sidari are at 10am and 3pm. Return trips at 1.30pm and 7pm. There are also regular buses from Sidari to Corfu Town, but beware they get very busy in both directions. Driving in Corfu is not for the faint hearted! Pool is nice but the drainage slats around the sides need replacing with a stronger version. Peaceful area to sun bathe and a small bar from 3pm. Cons- Public toilets in the hotel never seemed to have paper towels to dry your hands on. Serviettes from the restaurant were in great demand for this purpose. The hotel is a bit out of the way and although you can walk from the hotel to Sidari, it was often too hot. I notice people saying it’s only a 25-minute walk but it took us 45 minutes plus. You need to be either young or very fit (or both) to walk that quickly, in that heat. You also have to walk on some very narrow pavements, but mainly in the road. The real problem with this hotel is the restaurant and the lack of staff. The male receptionist is also the bar person and helps out in the restaurant as well. There are not enough staff in the Restaurant to keep an eye on what is running out and needs replacing. Which means that the guests are forever asking for cutlery, butter, milk etc. There’s only a little 2-piece toaster (I shudder to think of the queue for that in high season) and only 1 hot drink machine, which is used by the guests all day, so you can imagine how often that needs topping up or fixing. To be fair they do top up quickly when they are told and fix it as quickly as they can. The food is repetitive and most meals are usually chicken or pork. What isn’t used in the evening is more often than not used at lunchtime the next day, either the same as the night before or dressed up with a sauce or different seasonings. We had a lovely stay. Great location. Clean and very comfortable rooms and we had very large twin beds..so comfy and pillows too. Room 203 had an amazing view and large balcony which we loved. No extra charges for aircon or safe! Breakfast is outstanding..such a choice of fresh and cooked food and a beautiful view from the terrace. Gina and all her family and staff are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Just as a footnote..if you have mobility issues, walking up the slope from the road to the hotel could be tricky as it's quite steep if you're on foot. However there is loads of room to park your car or bike directly outside the hotel and there is a lift. Swimming pool lovely and clean and pool bar which we didn't use this time as went to the beach (max 10 mins walk away). Very close to supermarket and restaurants..great location and bus stop at the end of the road..easy to get into Corfu town and anywhere else on the island. Food: very bad. Buffet food was the only available option in front bar. Very little choice, slightly warm chips, breaded meat, I still don't know if it was chicken or pork ? Slightly warm spaghetti bolonesse, very bad . The tuna salad was the only nice thing available. This was every night !! Accomodation: very dated but clean . Cleaning staff fantastic and came every day with fresh towels etc. Beds are single beds pushed together. Our accommodation was one bedroom downstairs with 2 single beds pushed together, bathroom downstairs with a bath, shower hose in bath, toilet , bathroom smelt of drains eventhough window was constantly open. Living room with small kitchen area, 1 dated microwave and 2 electric plates. Ants were a problem eventhough we made sure to clean up and pur away all food. A TV with Greek channels only. Two couches which were supposed to be able to be slept on (sofa beds, but don't pull out) and were hard as nails. A loft area with two single beds pushed together. The only Air conditioning unit in the entire apartment was halfway down the stairs of loft bedroom and living room which meant loft upstairs was freezing and downstairs bedroom roasting. We tried leaving downstairs bedroom door, windows open and door to living room open to try and cool down at night but although we were slightly cooler we were bitten alive by mosquitoes even with plug in repellent. The resort is situated beside a dual carriageway which is very busy and noisy all night which makes it extremely difficult to sleep. Also be advised there is no shop on site but there is a small garage shop across the road which would cover very basic needs Nearest small supermarket type shop 20 mins walk to right of entrance. The ”beach as advertised” is a small estuary, pretty but stoney and not really suited for swimming. The plus side is the pool and pool bar is lovely also the staff in reception are very friendly and helpful. The nearby village of Govina to left of resort, 15 mins walk is great for restaurants , shopping and bars. Recommend the BBQ Art restaurant l great food prices and lovely staff. Bus (Nr.7) which will take you to Corfu town is across the road from the resort and comes every 20 mns. This was my first time in Greece and I definitely will return but sadly it will not be be to stay in the Govina Bay Resort.
