Mama Lova

This perfectly beautiful, well-run hotel is one of the highlights of our trip. To be able to come back to the hotel and feel like you returned back to your own home is a unique feeling. Karima, Khalil, Saad, and the rest of the staff go above and beyond to make you happy and satisfied. Everything from restaurant recommendation to taxi service is perfect. Our room, with a small loft with an extra bed, was nicely decorated with some uniquely picked items like a record player and old suitcases. Mattresses are nice and firm and the pillows, oh the pillows! (For those of you who are fussy about pillows, you will not be disappointed!) The room is clean and made up every day. And finally we found a hotel that respected not to change the towels unless they are on the floor. Good for the environment and the overall workload for the staff. The breakfast really is difficult to describe with words, it needs to be experienced. Typical Moroccan dishes that varies a bit from day to day. Olives, dates, honey, nut-butter, pancakes, flatbread, oats/porrige, omelett, orange juice, coffee, cream cheese, hummus etc etc! Everything served at the table. They cater really well to celiac disease with lots of really good alternatives!! The location is great, in the old town with easy access from the main gate (but perhaps you want to get a luggage service because of the uneven streets). We would love to come back and recommend it to travellers to Essaouira. There were both friends and families at the hotel but mind that it might be some noise coming from the stairs and rooms as they all face the inside of the riad. A gem of a boutique hotel, the Mama Lova truly lovely.

Amazing place to stay!!!! hidden away from the hussle & bussle. everyone was super friendly! delicious breakfast with a variety of compotes and pastries as well as eggs & juice which we had on the amazing rooftop- see photo. Room was lovely with 2 very comfy double beds in, although we stayed on the first floor there was no proper window & of course no air-con as its a Riad style so can get a little stuffy. Would advise the hotel to have plug-in room fans on-site for peak heat weather! Couldn't imagine staying in that room in July when its super hot as I need a cold room. Didn't ruin the stay at all though.

Great hotel. Lovely deco and very thoughtful staff. Also delish breakfast with a variety of compotes and pastries as well as eggs. Dinner was a treat and they brought it up to the roof. A huge variety of mezze. It was very quiet though in heart of the medina.

We recently stayed as a family of 5 (3 older children). Mama Lova is truly a beautiful place to stay and the attention to detail in the interior design was amazing. All of the staff are kind and helpful beyond compare. Nothing is too much trouble and Karima helped us so much with booking trips and taxis. The property is beautiful clean which is an absolute credit to the house keeper. Breakfast is plentiful and whilst not necessarily to my taste it really could not be faulted (I’m coeliac so have a very restricted diet). The room is well equipped the toiletries are lovely and my daughter enjoyed the powerful shower after a day at the windy and obviously sandy beach. We initially had planned to stay at a large chain type hotel because of the access to a pool, however we are so glad we decided against this. We did buy a day pass to a hotel with a pool and didn’t even get in it! We are glad we stayed at Mama Lova as I don’t think we would have appreciated Essaouira in the same way. Thank you to the owner for creating a little bit of luxury within the medina and for all his wonderful staff who have made his vision come to life.

Mama Lova is located just off one of the main avenues of Essaouaria, and thus very easy and convenient for wandering around this quiet seaside town. We arrived after a 2-3 hour drive from Marrakesh, and were immediately served a truly delicious lunch in the small courtyard. The manager, Karima, was gracious, helpful, and spoke excellent English; the other staff were also friendly and efficient. I shared a suite on the second floor with my traveling companion. It consisted of one large bedroom with a window looking out over the town and one into the central courtyard; one smaller bedroom looking into the courtyard; and a large, well laid-out bathroom. The shower provided good hot water and strong water pressure. The decor throughout the riad is attractive and simple; my bed was extremely comfortable. There were other guests, including one couple with a baby, but it was always quiet. Breakfast was served in the courtyard, and was copious and excellent: fresh fruit and juice, breads, jams, olives, eggs. The roof deck was pleasant, and afforded a terrific view out over the town. The only caution is that the stairs to all the rooms are steep - this was our experience in all the riads we stayed in.

Lovely, Clean, Comfortable, centrally located. Beautiful roof top views. Delicious cafe with full breakfast AND cappuccinos. Friendly, helpful staff. Caring Concierge offered recommendations and made reservations for us. Great water pressure in the shower!!!

Me revoila à Essaouira quelques mois apres avoir découvert le restaurant du Mama Lova, lors d’un repas entre amis. Cette fois je decide d’y séjourner quelques jours, et je suis tout à fait enchantée. Du personnel, à l’ambiance que dégage ce lieu, la nourriture, tout était parfait. Je recommande vivement cet établissement aux personnes qui souhaites vivre une vraie experience.

Simplement parfait ! Superbement décoré, très bien placé, des chambres spacieuses aux très belles finitions et un coin chambre d’enfant en mezzanine qui a fait tout le succès pour nos 2 garçons, une attention au détail, de très bons produits d’accueil ,un personnel toujours souriant, très sympathique et attentionné, un excellent et généreux petit déjeuner marocain ! Bref, parfait et à recommander sans hésiter. Merci à la manager et à tout le personnel pour ce séjour.

Hotel bellissimo nella Medina di Essaouira, ci siamo finalmente sentiti coccolati dopo un lungo viaggio in Marocco. Si respira una certa ricercatezza in ogni dettaglio, nulla è lasciato al caso nell’arredamento di Mama Lova. Karima guida in modo meticoloso la struttura e lo staff. La colazione è gustosa e ricca, lo chef è veramente competente, ma anche gli altri ragazzi in reception e la signora che si occupa della colazione e delle camere. La terrazza è uno spot meraviglioso per rigenerarsi con un drink e uno snack. I letti sono così comodi che sembra di dormire su una nuvola! Unica pecca è che la spa non è assolutamente all’altezza dell’hotel, in quanto è situata a 10 min a piedi e non si presenta per nulla pulita e accogliente. (Non è proprietà dell’hotel, ma secondo me dovrebbero trovarne una migliore con cui collaborare). Per il resto tutto magnifico!
